A contrastive study of -ingly adverbials with special regard to disjuncts
Jarkovská, Martina ; Dušková, Libuše (advisor) ; Voráček, Jaroslav (referee) ; Malá, Markéta (referee)
The present study is concerned with -ing participle base adverbs as one realization form of this word class and their Czech equivalents. The focus of our study is on -ingly adverbials especially in their sentence modifying function. Sentence modification is present in both languages, English and Czech; however, based on morphological and syntactic differences between the two languages, the means of Czech and English sentence modification do not always correspond. Above all, this is caused by the fact that -ingly adverbials, a productive class of disjuncts evaluating the content of the clause from the speaker's point of view, structurally more or less do not have Czech corresponding counterparts. In English -ing participle base adverbials can be regarded as condensed forms of clausal realization (surprisingly ~ it is surprising). Although in Czech such adverbial forms are structurally possible, they are not in common usage (překvapující ~ *překvapujícně). This often results in applying different means of attitudinal evalution as counterparts of -ingly disjuncts. Therefore a primary interest of this work is a comparison of morphological, syntactic and stylistic differences in the sentence modification between English and Czech. Unlike in Czech where the word order is flexible, in English the position of a...

Hrunková, Lenka ; Kuhnová, Věra (referee) ; Pokorný, Ladislav (advisor)
Providing non-professional first aid to someone in need is part of each human's system of moral and civil obligations. This inspired me largely in the choice of a topic for my diploma thesis. Children of younger school age constitute a group of citizens with moral, but especially civil obligations, and the issues of delivery of nonprofessional first aid also apply to them. Since I study teaching for primary schools, the goal of my thesis is to find out the level of knowledge of first aid among children of younger school age. I chose several conditions which I think children in primary schools should recognize and handle correctly. My thesis is divided into three parts. In the theoretical part 1 deal with educational programs at schools, always with focus on sections dealing with elementary first aid. I used the obtained findings to set up a test that became one of the key tools of my empirical survey. I also characterize the selected conditions, describe their correct handling and list the most frequent handling errors. In the practical part I deal with the first aid test and the implementation of model situations in which children should theoretically and practically demonstrate their knowledge of non-professional first aid for the selected conditions, such as bruises, collapse, anti-shock positions and...

Secká, Jana ; Tichá, Alena (advisor) ; Kodejška, Miloš (referee)
The thesis called Problems of accepting children to a school of arts or a primary school with extended music education discusses testing of musical abilities. The first chapter defines the two school types as institutions providing continual education in music. The second chapter introduces the topic of musical abilities, their classification and diagnostics. Musical abilites are assessed most frequently by means of a test. Examples of standardized tests of musicality are given in chapter 2.4. Important part of the thesis is chapter 3, which presents actual tests of musicality as performed in individual schools. For this purpose I collaborated with multiple schools representing different school types. The practical part of the thesis describes particular tests of musicality I use in my teaching. Having performed an analysis of the present state I proposed a new way of testing children's musical abilities, with focus on motivation and experience. The exercises presented here may become inspiration to music teachers at both primary schools and schools of arts and possibly enrich their work.

Distinction in the sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu
Knechtlová, Jana ; Dudová, Radka (referee) ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis called Distinction in Sociological Theory of Pierre Bourdieu is mostly a theoretical writing focused on a description of the distinction mechanism. The main source of information is an almost identically called book written by the above mentioned french sociologist and antropologist, the mechanism of distinction is after a detailled introspection set into a larger context of Bourdieu's theory. In the beginning a few key notions are presented, inclusive of a short biography, introduction of certain sources of inspiration and, most important, the position of Bourdieu's theory within an almost classical dualism of paradigms. The next part describes in full detail some key theoretical notions on which a later understanding of Bourdieu's distinction is based. The mechanism itself is questionned with a particular stress on individual differences not having been captured in previous parts of the text. It is especially the importace of mental pair dualities within the a classifying mental operation and their social consequences, such as a proces of social inclusion, a creation of social identity a complementary running of social exclusion. The above mentioned social processes are above all a consequence of a symbolical violence that socially acting individuals are executing while the classification is...
