Distance practical teaching and learning
Zdobinská, Helena ; Janštová, Vanda (advisor) ; Jedličková, Tereza (referee)
This diploma thesis describes practical activities and related topics during forced distant education due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the theoretical part of thesis, the distant education is defined. I also described some of its features, which includes absence of physical contact, use of communication platforms, synchrony and asynchrony form of lesson, need for some degree of independence and digital competence. Anonymous questionnaires were made to collect the data from students and their science subjects' teachers (biology, chemistry, and physics). The questions were with free answers, closed answers with choices or scale values. Respondents consisted of 543 students and 24 teachers from Prague and Central Bohemian Region. The answers were categorized and frequencies calculated. The values of numeric answers such as mean, median, minimum and maximum were measured. The relationship between data was analysed by Pearson's chi squared test of independence. This study shows that teachers used practical activities such as experiments, observation or creating something less in distance lessons, compared to their face to face lessons. On the contrary tasks based on text work were used more often. The analysis showed that students preferred tasks containing creating something. Most teachers taught in both...

Teaching mathematics online at in a selected year of the second stage
Flejberková, Dorota ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the introduction of equations in an eight-year Grammar school during distance learning. This thesis focuses on action research in the context of distance learning in the first year of the eight-year Grammar school. It consists of a series of lessons focusing on equations that I have taught at OPENGATE Grammar School. This thesis aims to monitor my progress in the field of didactics. The thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part itself is further divided into five chapters: Definition of key terms, Closing and re-opening of schools in the Czech Republic with a comparison with other countries of the European Union, Specifics of online teaching, theory of linear equations, analysis of textbooks. The practical part builds a priori on analyses of a continuous reflection. The practical part expands on the theoretical by the creation of scenarios. The description of scenarios is accompanied by a continual reflection and a posteriori reflection. The conclusion presents the key points of the reflection. The analysis and the reflection are put into the context of the linear equation curriculum analysis presented in a selected series of textbooks both at the primary and lower secondary school levels. Part of the research was finding resources that can be used to fulfill the various activating methods in e-learning and to examine amount of their effectiveness in teaching. Main research has been provided by active observations and making notes into pedagogical diary. Through observation, the thesis shows specific teaching methods and evaluates their effectiveness in the online environment oin secondary school ArtEcon Prague. These methods were practiced during the 2020/21 academic year. It has been found that all activating methods can be transferred to an online environment, but their effectiveness varies.
