Agenda Setting in the Issue of Refugeedom: Analysis of Connection Between Media Exposure and Perceived salience of the Issue

The diploma thesis concerns itself with the analysis of connection between the media exposure to refugeedom topics and the perceived salience of the issue. Combined qualitative and quantitative research designs ruled by QUAN → qual scheme are used in the thesis. In the quantitative part the effect of exposure to refugeedom-related news on the perceived salience of the subject is constructed using TV and newspaper viewing figures while controlling socio- demographic characteristics of respondents. Binary logistic regression was used to find the influence. The analysis shows that the exposure to content concerning immigration and refugees has influenced the rated importance of the issue. However, there are other variables not included in the model which are affecting the salience. The qualitative approach offers insights into the relationship discovered with quantitative methods. In-depth interviews showed people are aware of the media influence mainly regarding topics they are thinking about and discussing with their social surroundings. Photography in media and its impact on perception of objective reality

This diploma thesis describes the way by which can photojournalism operate with the audience and how it is possible to influence a view of recipients about the world around us by photography. The thesis is devided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is based on accessibility of the Czech and foreign literature and in its beginning that represents what photojournalism is and what is its role in media. A part of the opening chapter is also a discussion of ethics in the photojournalism. Furthermore, there is explanation of the process of how a recipient perceives visual communication. One of the key components of this work is a summary of how experts from the fields of photography and media see the possibility of influencing the audience with photos in the media. There are explained the concepts of the terms visual agenda setting and visual gatekeeping. The ways by which media most often manipulate a recipient are described and there is outlined also the question of objectivity in photojournalism. The end of the theoretical part is devoted to a relatively popular topic of digital photo editing in the media. Children's understanding of social mobility at primary and secondary school

The present thesis deals with primary and secondary school pupilsʾunderstanding of vertical social mobility. The aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare how pupils understand the individual social factors introduced in the theoretical part oft he thesis. The first part ofthe thesis defines the theoretical concepts underlying vertical social mobility and related areas, constructivism and childrenʾs interpretations of the world. It also presents an overview of current research. The practical part consists in a qualitative analysis. The data forthe analysis are collected through individual in-depth interview with primary and secondary school pupils. The results of the analysis are then compared with previous studies, and linked to the curriculum for civic education and social sciences. Methods efficiency of geography fieldwork

This bachelors work has been created with the purpose of answering the question: "How can we increase the efficiency of fieldwork methods?". This has been answered by creating a qualitative questionnaire aimed at geography teachers at grammar schools, and also a pilot research has been contemplated. Conceptually, this work is split into two parts: theoretical part and methodological-empiric part: The Theoretical part. This is divided to three units. The first unit explains the content of the main terms connected with field geography education. It offers different variations of field education and the reader is introduced to meanings and benefits of this educational style for students. The second unit deals with the term "education efficiency and gives its possible homonyms and synonyms. By means of efficiency scheme and education levels it refers to the particular aspects which influence it. The third unit is focused on literature analysis. The Methodological-empiric part. Veronika Konopásková Schizophrenia: Impact on quality of life Annotation The goal of the thesis is to understand the impact of schizophrenia on quality of life of the patient. Schizophrenia is defined and its most common forms and symptoms are presented. I describe the origin, course and prognosis of the disease. I focus on the concept of relapse and suicide risk in patients with schizophrenia. Treatise on the treatment is divided into psychosocial and biological methods. I deal with the concept of Quality of life in general and in connection with schizophrenia. I discuss the problem of stigmatization of the mentally ill patients. The example of three selected organizations (Baobab, ESET-HELP, DPS "Ondřejov") illustrates the wide range of psychosocial rehabilitation programs offered for mentally ill. To capture authentically all aspects of life with schizophrenia, I conducted three in-depth interviews with persons diagnosed with schizophrenia. Diploma thesis entitled "Application of Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods into Marketing Strategy of Print Medias" discusses employment of output research data accumulated on eye-tracking, in-depth interviewing and CAWI method of research. These research outcomes are further analyzed and implemented in the development process of the EURO Business Weekly strategy in the Czech publishing market. The final evaluation is based on a mutual comparison of results which were recorded by the EURO Business Weekly in the years 2005 and 2006.
Perception of new media as a threat on an example of Black Mirror series

Thesis Perception of new media as a threat on an example of Black Mirror series deals with the Black Mirror series viewers' stand on new media threats. The aim is to detect if the series affected their opinions or behavior with new media in any way. This aim will be persuaded by using the method of semi-structured interviews. The topic of new media and their negative impacts on individuals and society is in sociology represented increasingly. Black Mirror series literally aiming to set up a black mirror for our lives with ever-evolving technologies adds a value that can affect the respondents' emotions and opinions on this topic. The theoretical part describes the transitions of society in modern day - concept of network society and risk society and explains the terms threat and risk. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on current new media threats. The second, practical, part describes the specific methodological procedures used in this thesis and thus the methods of thematic analysis and methods of qualitative interviews. This will be followed by a description of the research steps, a description of the results and the results interpretation.
The Concept of Family in the Czech Society and its Media Image in "Ulice" TV Show: Similarities and Differences

This diploma thesis focuses on the concept of family in Czech society and on the media image in the series "Ulice". The aim of this thesis is to find the two concepts, then compare and contrast them. The research is qualitative, the used methods are content analysis and in-depth interview. The thesis begins with a theoretical part, where topics related to media constructions of reality, series "Ulice" and Czech family are explained. The theoretical part sets grounds for creating hypotheses. In the practical part, the last completed series of the series "Ulice" is analysed. The content of the viewed episodes is analysed using content analysis, followed by a verification of the hypotheses based on the theoretical part. A media image of family in the series "Ulice" is created based on the results of the content analysis. Subsequently, in-depth interviews are conducted with five Czech families, who are chosen intentionally. The concept of the Czech family in society is compiled based on the data from those interviews. Finally, the media picture of the Czech family in "Ulice" series and its concept in Czech society is compared, their similarities and differences are described. Media Image of Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in the Czech Radio in 1930-2019

The diploma thesis deals with the media image of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in the Czech Radio in years from 1930 to 2019. The fixture is one of the most important sports events in the country and the public radio has been informing listeners about it since the first year of the Czech GP holding. In its beginnings, the race found its place in the magazine Týdeník Rozhlas, which was also interested in technical background during GP. Based on the preserved articles from the magazine Týdeník Rozhlas, audio recordings from the Czech Radio, and Masaryk Circuit's chronicle, the thesis describes the history of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic from the public broadcasting perspective. It examines how the radio informs its listeners about the races and how much space it gives to the motorcycle world championship in broadcast. or what topics reporters choose in connection with the races. The quotes from the interviews with a photographer Tomáš Gescheidt, a head of the Czech Radio motorcycle section Luděk Hubáček, and with a track commissioner Jaroslav Pešek are included in the thesis. The methodological part of the research covers the method of qualitative and quantitative content analysis and historical method. The conclusion of this thesis is analytical and presents the results.
The comparison of marketing mix of two yoga studios in the role of competitors

Title: The comparison of marketing mix of two yoga studios in the role of competitors. Objectives: The aim of this work is to find out which yoga studio is advantageous for students and which would boost their loyalty. The comparison is made by analysis of marketing mix of these studios. Methods: In our research we used a method of comparison and a qualitative method of in-depth interview with eight respondents, who tried both studios for the first time. There is used a method of semi-structured interview. Results: There was drawn that respondents are quite satisfied with services of both studios from results of the research. There is no clear conclusion, which studio is more advantageous. Nevertheless, respondents said some remarks which should be rectified in order to improve services of both studios.
