This diploma thesis named "The media image of the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympic Games in the Czechoslovak contemporary press" follows the media coverage of the XVI. Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and the XVII. Summer Olympics in Rome in 1960, in selected Czechoslovak periodicals. To establish a media image, the diploma thesis utilises a qualitative content analysis, comparing the transformation of Olympic news reporting in Melbourne and Rome. It focuses on media content and its permeation through the communist ideology. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and methodological part. The theoretical part begins with the historical development of Czechoslovakia after 1948, when the Communists seized power, and then characterizes the "melting period". The thesis also inquires into the development of media in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s with an emphasis on media legislation, including the introduction of selected periodicals: Rudé Právo (Red Law), Svobodné slovo (Free Word) and Československý sport (Czechoslovak Sport). The methodological part maps how the Czechoslovak press informed its readers about the Olympic events in Melbourne and in Rome. Fortuna football league in the Deník Sport and the MF Dnes sports section during the coronavirus crisis in the period from 1.3. 2020 to 31.12. 2020

This thesis aims to present how the daily Sport, the web iSport, the sports section of MF Dnes and the website reported on the coronavirus crisis in connection with the Fortuna League. To achieve the objectives of the thesis, quantitative content analysis is used. Three time periods are examined in the thesis, with each period chosen to cover an important period in the events related to the coronavirus crisis and the Fortuna League. The research part of the thesis analyses the articles published in each period, as well as examining mentions of clubs and the use of narratives. The results are compared both between periods and between media. The thesis also presents the Fortuna League as a competition, individual clubs and their history. At the same time, the thesis chronologically characterizes the key events of the coronavirus crisis in the Czech Republic. It also briefly presents recent research findings on sports journalism during the coronavirus crisis.
Lingustic analysis of football TV commentary from 1970s to present days

This diploma thesis deals with football television commentary since 1970s to present days. In theoretical part it examines its development and two crucial domestic representatives of this genre - Vít Holubec and Jaromír Bosák. The greatest emphasis is placed on verbal chracteristics of their commentary and usage of language means. That is the reason why this diploma thesis also contains Czech language theory that sums up the specifics of football commentary and explains them on actual examples. The practical part contains detailed analysis of four selected football matches. The aim of this work is to compare TV football commentary from 1970s, 1980s and 1990s with its current conception through comparative language analysis.

Bachelor thesis Media Image of Football Club SK Slavia Praha at the Close of 2013/14 and 2018/19 Seasons in Selected Media looks into the media content of Mladá fronta DNES, Právo, and Sport altogether with Nedělní Sport. Among the three selected newspapers are two broadsheet papers and one that specializes in the sport. The research is conducted on two periods in 2014 and in 2019. In the first one, Slavia Praha successfully attempted to avoid relegation from the Czech top division, in the second one the club dominated domestic football, winning both league and cup trophies. The thesis tries to confirm or to disprove the hypothesis, that the improvement of the club's performances corresponded with the increase of published media content concerning the club. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the past and the present of sports journalists are described. Also, SK Slavia Praha is introduced. The content analysis examines the media content of selected newspapers and strives to find similarities and differences between the media products in the particular years and the particular newspapers.

The Bachelor thesis Online reporting on football matches as a format of sports journalism from a perspective of its authors describes online reporting as one of new types of sports journalism in the digital era and engages in forms of online reports in chosen Czech media outlets. The main method used while completing the thesis were semi-structured interviews with deputies of chosen media outlets. The main research topics were targeted on the beginnings and present state of live reporting in the particular media outlet, specifics of online reports and what does writing online reports require from their author and the use of multimedia and statistical databases. Based on collected data, the work describes similarities and differences between online reports that are caused by different way of creating those reports by particular media outlet.

The bachelor's thesis "Silver legacy of EURO 1996 during the following European Football Championships" deals with informing how selected Czech dailies reported on the 1996 European Football Championship during the following five European football championships. In selected tournaments, the text follows the frequency, and which iconic moments and personalities were most referred to in connection with the 1996 European Championship. The work is divided into three parts. The theoretical first describes the relationship between sport and the media, which is important for the correct understand of the bachelor's thesis. Further, the introductory part deals with aspects of how sports success is displayed, which is in fact the subject of research in the bachelor's thesis. In the next phase, he describes the history of European football championships. This context is also suitable for understanding a successful sporting event in a broader context. The Bachelors thesis Rise of MMA in the Czech Republic according to journalists explores the way Czech journalists feel about the popularity rise of MMA in Czech media and among the general public. The main method of research are half-structured in-depth interviews with journalists, who cover or used to cover MMA in media. These interviews focus on the process of selecting the news and new topics in media, where addressed journalists work or used to work. The main topics of interviews are the main reasons for the sudden rise of the popularity of MMA, the current ranking of MMA among mainstream sports, and prediction of its possible future. Thus interviews reflect the theoretical part and follow it up. Since the interviews are half-structured, apart from main topics they follow specific and unique topics based on the way the interview was going and specifics of media, where every answerer works.

Bachelor's thesis Media image "silvery" European Football Championship 1996 in the Czech republic period press is showed, how period press media is written about the European Championship 1996, and anyway proceeding was increased area which single of the periodical the whole competition, The Czech National Team and mainly profess it's a journey of the competition. The goal of thesis is found out with using statistics how the interest increased the press upon the competition. The most indicator were numbers of the published articles and pictures in the reporting period. That is determined from 2. May 1996 to 9. June 1996. In addition to these quantitative indicators, the work uses a qualitative analysis to get acquainted with the content of published articles. For analysis were chosen the three domestic aged periodicals in these bachelor's thesis. Two ordinary titles represent the dailies Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo. The daily Sport is third which was in the reporting period only clearly sportingly focused periodic. The last chapter is professed reality that the footballers may become national celebrity based on success.
The Comparison of Sports Sections of the Czech Daily Newspapers (Blesk, Lidové noviny, Deník)

The diploma thesis treats sports journalism in the Czech press. It aims to compare sports sections of three Czech daily newspapers - Blesk, Lidové noviny, and Deník (represented by Moravskoslezský deník as a suitable regional variant) by quantitative content analysis according to eight criteria: percentual representation of genres, sports, topics, number of photos, representation of sportsmen and journalists based on their gender, forms of authorship and proportion of sport-oriented articles outside the sports sections and compare it with results from 2011 a 2015 data set and a global project The International Sports Press Survey 2011. In the opening part, the diploma thesis attends to the critical reception of sports journalism coverage and introduce Czech sports journalism after 1989, then briefly characterize chosen daily newspapers. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes data collection and its analysis. The practical part of the diploma thesis fills the gap of lacking quantitative data completed with interpretation and authentic examples from research. This constitutes a framework of future periodic researches and challenges other researchers to serious progress of this neglected discipline in the Czech Republic which could lead to international survey participation of this country...
