Curricular Reforms in Great Britain

This bachelor thesis is focused on curricular reforms in Great Britain during 20th century. These reforms are compared with changes in education in the Czech Republic. The content itself brings a particular identification and description of British education in the period as well as an analogy to reforms carried out in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the issue of school leisure facilities operation in respect to the curricular reform is outlined in brief.

The aim of this thesis is to compare selected mathematics textbooks that deal with fundamental functions at secondary school level. Textbooks will be examined on the base of Framework Education Programme for Grammar school, whether they fulfil requirements for teaching a given area of mathematics. Analysis of range of each textbook will be realized by the Indicator of curriculum uniformity. By measuring the didactic equipment of textbooks, the textbooks will be analysed and evaluated quantitatively. The benefits of such work will be evaluation of textbooks construction pointing to their quality.
First Aid in Secondary Education

Title: First Aid in Secondary Education Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to compare the knowledge of first aid students of selected secondary schools in Karlovy Vary and their possible relationship to the number of teaching hours with the topic of first aid and the teaching methods used. Methods: In our theoretical-research thesis we used the method of analysis and the method of comparison. Available school documents, data obtained during testing of pupils' knowledge and data obtained by means of a survey from teachers were analyzed. Data collection took place using a test and a survey. A comparison of the data followed. The research group consisted of 82 students and 4 teachers from 4 selected secondary schools in Karlovy Vary. Results: We found minimal differences in first aid knowledge among students of selected secondary schools in Karlovy Vary. We did not find a direct link between students' knowledge and the number of first aid lessons and teaching methods used. Student's motivation to learn topic of the educational area ICT for vocation (training school)

This diploma thesis is focused on pupils' motivation to learning in ICT at vocational secondary schools and colleges. The main educational goal of ICT as a subject is to develop pupils' ICT literacy. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with motivation as a pedagogical concept and appropriate teaching approaches to it. An analysis of ICT subjects in the curriculum of the Framework Education Programmes for vocational secondary schools and colleges contributes to form an integral part of the theoretical base. The empirical part is divided into three mini-surveys carried out at a vocational secondary school and training institution in Liberec. The first was a questionnaire for pupils to discover what motivates them to study ICT. The second was a questionnaire for teachers which aimed to find out if and how teachers apply and exploit pupils' ICT literacy in their teaching of vocational ICT as a specialist subject. The third element was interviews with ICT teachers with the aim of investigating how ICT teachers understand the role of ICT as a subject and how they develop their pupils' ICT literacy. Mathematical Skills Applied to Teaching of Geography at High School In the Topic The Earth as a Cosmic Orb

Matýsková, P. (2010): Mathematical skills applied to the teaching of geography at secondary schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. Submitted diploma thesis deals with interdisciplinary relationships between mathematics and geography at grammar schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. The relationships are generally described from the point of view of three curriculum forms (intended, implemented and achieved). In the area of the intended curriculum there is an analysis of curriculum documents carried out, especially of the Framework educational programme and of selected school educational programmes. Subsequently, the links between selected secondary school textbooks of geography and mathematics are evaluated on the basis of required curriculum, its quality, intelligibility and occurrence of examples from the practice. The subchapters of the selected unit, in which an application of mathematical skills can be found, are defined in detail and specified on the basis of the carried analysis. Ethic education This diploma work deals with newly implemented school subject "Ethic education" at the school system in the Czech Republic. "Ethic education" has been defined as a project, where main topic is to develop pro-social behaviour. This diploma work specifies elementary educational aims of this project and analyses its particular educational components: contain, methods, style, topics. It also deals with the process of implementation into the Czech school system, in what social context has ethic education has been developing, how it is embodied into Framework Education Programme documents and how psychology as a science looks at moral development of a human being. Author looks at the ethic education through prism of universal principles and outcomes, such as Christian ethics and natural moral law.
Cross-Curricular Subjects chosen for biology education.

Bachelor thesis is literature search. It compares cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic with other neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia). As the source of information were not used scholarly articles but also school education programmes of countries. Cross-curricular subjects offer an opportunity to connect most or all school subjects. Themes which mainly cross Biology are analyzed in detail. Cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic are provided only marginally.
Topic of Islam in the Teaching of Basics of Civics and Social Sciences

The diploma thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The first part deals with the theory in the form of a basic and brief introduction into the subject of Islam from the religious and anthropological point of view. Similarly, Czech society's perception of Islam is discussed as well as expert's and general public's estimation of teaching about Islam. Subsequently, the characteristics of stated educational topic and its placement into the broader context of education will be dealt with, the Framework Educational Program will be used as a means of comparison. The teaching of the stated topic and the controversy of it will be specified. In the practical part of the thesis, a qualitative research will be carried out, followed by its interpretation, which will take place with the participation of high school teachers. The diploma thesis will be focused on the identification of various concepts of teaching of this topic, it will attempt to critically view and formulate the recommendation for the current issues of the teaching of Islam, for it is a present topic that should not be omitted within the Citizenship Education.
