Commercialization of Czech lifestyle blogs and its relationship to the audience

This thesis is devoted to blogs and their commercialization, a phenomenon of the on-line world for last few years. The aim of this work is to explore several Czech lifestyle blogs and to find out how much commercial content there is, also how the audience reacts to this content as well as how the bloggers themselves approach commercial content. In the beginning the development of blogs is described, both in the Czech and global environment. The characteristic features of blogs from different perspectives on the issues are also described. The development of blogs is then set in the context of events that made it possible at all. Furthermore, attention is paid also to the process of commercialization of content on the blogs and the possibilities monetizing the blogs' content. Emphasis is placed primarily on a detailed description of influencer marketing and its current situation, but it also discusses affiliate marketing and the use of public relations tools on blogs. The research part provides an insight into the issue of Czech blogs and the current blogosphere. First the chosen blogs are described and set in the context of the Czech blogosphere, then, based on a detailed content analysis, the level of commercial content on the selected blogs is described as well as how the audience reacts to it....

The main objective of this master thesis is to discuss the phenomenon of fashion blogs and exploring its features and benefits for the Czech discourse about fashion. The evolution of blogging as a technological phenomenon with mass expansion of the internet and its development is mapped by researching respective literature that deals with fashion and its communication in the media, besides that there is also explored the nature of blogs and their place among traditional media such as print, television or radio. The research would not be complete without proper examination of the motivation that leads to the formation of blogs and of course results of such blogging that can be considered successful. Given that the fashion industry is built on communication of trends and subsequent sales of products that can be described as fashionable, the work aims to deal with the transformation in use of media for this purpose. The main objective of the thesis was to explore the phenomenon of fashion blogs. Not in terms of their marketing or journalistic function as it was originally intended, but in a way of an examination of the position of the blog author. We focused on the reasons for the motivation of the authors of the blog leading them to continue their work. The first chapter outlined the process of creation of the blog and the development of the blog in general. Based on research of the literature related to the fashion and media, the development of the fashion blog in the Czech Republic was described. The second chapter studied theoretical preview on blogs, which showed the strong relationship between media and blogging, defined marketing influence in the blogging and described product placement. At the same time we have shown from a theoretical point of view, based on the literature sources, the importance for the authors of the blogs of building social capital by blogging. This fact was analysed in the research part of the thesis when the individual answers of the Czech bloggers were presented. Czech food blogosphere and its development

The thesis deals with the Czech food blogosphere and its development. It describes food studies and theoretical disciplines which had participated on the development. It presents current trends of online gastronomy. It defines blogs with the short note of the Web 2.0, describes their history. Also mentions the authors of the blogs as online influencers who might influence own readers and their opinions. It is followed by the history of foreign and Czech food blogs with their main representatives. Commercial possibility of blog and professionalism of bloggers is also mentioned. Part of the thesis presents the external and internal motivations to write blog. Shortly, the thesis describes the critism of food blogs and also the plagiarism issues. The thesis presents the future of blogging as well. The conducted qualitative research is based on six semi-structured interviews with food bloggers and deals with their opinions of the Czech food blogosphere and creating and maintaining the blogs. It researches their motivation to write and tries to find out the positive and negative aspect of blogging and presumed development of Czech food blogs.

ABSTRACT: Both foreign and Czech literature point out that information and communication technologies are becoming more and more integral part of education. This presented diploma thesis provides basic outline of information and communication technologies and possibilities of their use with respect to English language teaching. This thesis tries to outline effective use of ICT in English language teaching and focuses mainly on electronic communication, the Internet calling and features of blogging. The aim of the thesis is to find out pupils'attitudes towards English language teaching at Secondary Vocational School in Hořovice, their previous experience with electronic communication, their preferred and dispreferred activities during English language teaching and finally their opinion on using the Internet calling and e-mail by means of a questionnaire and data analysis. Possibility of using electronic communication and calling via the Internet in English language teaching is realized as a project.
Bloggers as professional journalists

The thesis focuses on the status of the blogosphere in traditional journalism. It defines blogs, describes their history, typology and audience, which has changed from passive recipients of media content to its active creators. The thesis depicts convergence as a process in which amateur journalists affect the institution of traditional journalism by publishing online. This gave rise to a new phenomenon, called participative journalism, which is a potential source of discrepancy between traditional and new media. The thesis voices mutual criticism and arguments from both professional journalists and bloggers. This need not prevail if these two media systems learn to live in symbiosis. The thesis further mentions the legal protection of bloggers in the Czech Republic and the democratizing potential of the blogosphere. The conducted qualitative research is based on twelve structured in-depth respondent interviews (both bloggers and editors) and focuses on the cooperation between lifestyle magazines (and newspapers) and bloggers. It examines motivations to take up the cooperation, its progress and its advantages and disadvantages. The research demonstrates that a symbiotic relationship is possible. It also discusses some notions introduced in the theoretical part of the thesis.
Marketing Communication of Fashion Brands in Czech Online Blogs

The main theme of this bachelor thesis is development of a phenomenon of fashion blogs in the Czech Republic focused on using this platform for marketing communication mainly of fashion and cosmetic brands. The main goal is to, by descriptive analysis, describe most common methods of marketing techniques that are used to promote products by using authors of fashion blogs as opinion leaders and also describe penetration of this communication to author's content of blogs and analyse readers' responses to such content. The first chapter focuses on fashion blogs characteristics, second part is about establishment and development of this phenomenon in foreign countries and its influence to democratization of fashion. Third part deals with three main points that have principal influence on development of Czech fashion blogs, which allowed progress in marketing use of this media. In the fourth part I concentrate on the blog's authors and their position as opinion leaders, who are effectively used for spreading awareness of a brand. A Phenomenon of fashion Blogs

Diploma thesis Fashion blogs and research on the phenomenon discusses a relatively new phenomenon of personal blogs with a focus on fashion and style. It presents fashion blogs in all their complexity, including the definition, classification, origin and evolution. The second section compares the descriptive way fashion blogs with thematically related fashion magazines and from various perspectives: formal characteristics, work organization, text, picture and graphic elements, audiences, the use of advertising and PR and representation of reality. The practical part is focused on qualitative research fashion blog - by a focus group interview with fashion bloggers and subsequently grounded theory method of analysis examines the various relationships, especially causal, which operate under the studied phenomenon. Through reveals further aspects of the fashion blogging such as motivation, fears, needs, dreams and ambitions of bloggers. The goal is to answer the question of how fashion blogs with its distinctive style and authors presentation define the fashion magazines and propose a basic theory of operation of the medium as yet not explored.
Iranian opposition and blogging-the phenomenon of Citizen journalism in non-free society

The Master's thesis Iranian opposition and blogging - the phenomenon of Citizen journalism in a non-free society is focused on analysis of blogging as an opposition's communication tool within the nondemocratic regimes, contemporary Iran in particular. The research question is How can be the opposition's communication performed by blogging and what are the limitations and possibilities of such communication. The primary hypothesis is that the blogs are not used for direct manangement of opposition's actions, but rather as an alternative space for free expression. Four opposition's blogs written in english are analysed by means of qualitative analysis. The main criteria for selection of blogs were that the blog should be actualised on regular basis, based in Iran or at least written by a native Iranian, and clearly be in favour of the opposition's ideology. Content published between march 2009 and march 2010 was selected for analysis, for it was the period of disputed presidential election and following citizen's unrest in Iran. The issues of media's effects are not discussed in the thesis. Aside of the analysis, certain theoretical models of communication and their potential use within Iran's blogosphere are discussed.
