The main goal of the thesis is to to study the competence boundaries of social workers and their methodswhile facing the limits of their competences. The practical part of the thesis was executed by a qualitative research strategy, to be exact by questioning and semi-structured interviews. If a social worker finds themselves into situations in which they are facing their competence boundaries, they have described strategies which they apply in practice. Those strategies include indentification of areas in which they feel a lack of their experience and expert knowledge, searching for fitting methods on how to find expert help. This approach allows them to solve situations which overstep their competences more effectively, yet ensure quality care and support for clients.
