Wodere, Veronika ; Hájková, Vanda (advisor) ; Zakouřilová, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the topic of the transition of people with disabilities from the school environment to working life. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part presents key topics related to the transition of people with disabilities from school to the labour market, such as support in education, employment and independent living, transition programmes, employment choices and job opportunities. For the practical part, qualitative research was chosen to explore, using unstructured narrative interviews, the transition between school and employment for people with more severe physical disabilities who already have work experience. Social support from friends was found to play a key role in the job search process. Respondents had a limited choice of high schools, often opting for schools with secondary school diplomas in order to continue their studies at university, but at the same time choosing their field of study according to the school they required to be barrier- free and experienced in teaching pupils with disabilities. Motivation to seek employment was mainly financial and the desire to be useful to the labour market, while respondents did not want to spend all their time non-productively at home. None of the respondents used the transition...
The role of a pediatrics nurse in a primary school environment
DOLEŽALOVÁ, Kateřina
Current status: At present, community nursing care for children is very poorly spread in the Czech Republic, although until the privatisation of primary care it was provided through the School Health Service, of which the school nurse was a part. Most European countries and almost 102 countries around the world consider school nursing to be an important area of community care that supports children's health during time at school. With the increase in chronic diseases among children and adolescents, teachers often perform procedures for which they are not competent, unlike paediatric nurses, according to Decree No 391/2017 Coll. Objectives of the study: The first objective was to map the possibilities of cooperation between community paediatric nurses and teachers in primary schools. The second objective was to map the care provided to children with chronic diseases in primary schools. The third objective was to identify the most common constraints faced by children with chronic diseases in primary schools. The fourth objective was to determine the attitudes of parents of chronically ill children towards the introduction of the position of community paediatric nurse into the primary school environment. Methodology: The research investigation was processed in the form of a combined quantitative-qualitative analysis. The quantitative research was carried out through non-standardized questionnaires that were in online form sent to the teaching staff of primary schools in the Pilsen and South Bohemia regions. Prior to the actual data collection, a pilot study was conducted with 5 respondents. 104 questionnaires were obtained and subsequently processed. Data collection took place in November and December 2023. Qualitative research was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with parents of children with epilepsy and type 1 diabetes mellitus attending primary schools in the Pilsen region. A total of 9 interviews were conducted with parents of children with chronic diseases. Data collection took place in January 2024. Results: From the quantitative research investigation, based on statistical hypothesis testing, we found that the relationship of teachers' interest in working with the community paediatric nurse in the primary schools was not related to the length of teaching experience (p = 0.816). In contrast, the average interest of teaching staff in working with a community paediatric nurse in the primary schools was found to be related to experience with a chronically ill child (p = 0.015). The qualitative research investigation revealed that the care of children with chronic diseases in the primary school environment is conditioned by the type of chronic disease, the attitude of teachers and the school management towards the disease. Most often, children with chronic illness face limitations in physical education classes, depending on the triggering factors for the development of complications of these diseases. Only children with epilepsy face limitations in the classroom. Parents of chronically ill children expressed a supportive attitude towards the implementation of a community paediatric nurse in the primary school environment. Conclusion and recommendations for practice: The results suggest that the care of children with chronic diseases at school is mainly provided by parents and class teachers. Almost half of the teachers refuse to give medication to children because of fear of possible consequences. Epilepsy has been found to have more limitations in physical education than diabetes. Parents expressed a favourable attitude towards the implementation of a community paediatric nurse in the primary school environment. The thesis is concluded by proposing the role of the community paediatric nurse in the primary school environment with focus on preventive care, health education, emergency care and especially care for children with chronic diseases.

The third part is practical and reflects the expressions that were stated in the questionnaires by the pupils, evaluates them and researches the process of forming and also observes the frequency of using the particular expressions. The most interesting expressions are transferred into the graphs. The questionnaire based on the secondary school pupils' speech and a processed dictionary, which was created from the obtained slang expressions, are included in the appendix. The basic method that was chosen is the method of data collection using the questionnaires, which were distributed at the Primary School J.Š. Potential of Small School
Vomlelová, Jitka ; Voda, Jan (advisor) ; Uhlířová, Jana (referee)
The dissertation Potential of Small Scholl deals with specific features of this kind of schools. The paper presents the role of small schools in the school system, mutual interaction at schools, distinctive forms of organization and methodical approaches aiming at defining particularities of this kind of school. We have drawn a comparison of a small school and an ordinary primary school based on two case studies. Differences which have been found out can define potential of both types of schools. The results of the research have brought us recognition that the potential of a small school is conditioned by its size and low numbers of pupils in classrooms. These conditions enable creating such learning environment that provides a pupil with specific performance of school attendance. Other significant aspects are mutual cooperation among pupils themselves as well as among teachers and parents within a small social group or implementation of schooling in mixed age groups which leads particularly to respect and acceptance of otherness and of pupils with specific educational needs. KEY WORDS small school, mixes aged education, cooperation, school environment, potential
