Sibling relationships in a family raising a child with autism spectrum disorders
Rathousová, Linda ; Zemková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Hádková, Kateřina (referee)
Sibling relationships represent the first and the longest contact with contemporaries in our lives, changing with the age of siblings and depending on a number of circumstances. At the same time it is the second strongest emotional bond, right after the bond to one's parents. One of the circumstances, influencing the sibling relationship essentially and permanently, is an impairment of one of the siblings, which may also be an autism spectrum disorder. This developmental disorder affects the psychological development of individual in three main fields, the so-called autistic triad - in the fields of communication, social interaction and imagination, i.e. it effects the sibling relationship as well. The sibling of the child with an autism spectrum disorder may then develop feelings as jealousy, guilt, fear, wrong, anger, grief, excess responsibility, shame or loneliness. There are not negative emotions only, the sibling may be proud of the child with the autism spectrum disorder, he/she may feel love and sympathy and he/she may feel the need to protect the impaired sibling, thus learning important character traits as patience or tolerance.
Assessment of notor stills in children with Aspuger syndrome and High - functioning autism using MABC-Z.
Nývltová, Lucie ; Komárek, Vladimír (advisor) ; Zounková, Irena (referee)
Asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism is a form of pervasive developmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication and restricted and stereotyped interests. These children are often clumsy and motor uncoordinated. They also performed worse in standardized tests of motor function. In this diploma thesis we used Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2 (MABC-2) for assessment motor skills in children with Asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism aged 7-10 years in comparison with the group of children developing typically. Our study included 9 children with Asperger syndrome, 3 children with high-functioning autism and 64 children with typical development. Evident motor deficit (below 5. percentile) was found in 2 children with Asperger syndrome and 3 children with high-functioning autism. 1 child with Asperger syndrome was in a risk of motor deficit (6.-16. percentile). Children with Asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism performed significantly worse than children developing typically in a total score of this test. Significant difference was found in two components of MABC-2, in Aiming and catching (AC) and Balance (BAL). Better results reached children with typical development. Results of this study indicate that children with Asperger syndrome...

The bachelor thesis concerns drawings of children with Asperger syndrome. It maintains of theoretical and empirical part. Theoretical part consists of three main chapters. First part includes Autistic spectrum disorders, particularly Asperger syndrome. Second chapter is followed up with children drawing - its development by common population, topics and diagnosis. The last chapter contains essay on specific drawing features characterizing persons with Asperger syndrome. Main task of empirical part incorporates case history of two children with Asperger syndrome and both - freehand and guided drawings analysis. The aim of the work is seeking significant features in the drawings of children with Asperger Syndrome, whether these signs relate to their diagnosis and comparing discovery with the literature. Integration children with Asperger's syndrome at the elemetary school
Harudová, Adéla ; Sotáková, Hana (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
In this thesis, the theoretical introduction firstly reviews Asperger's syndrome using available scientific resources. Secondly, we discuss major impacts and parameters of the integration process in a general perspective. The empirical part is fosuced on two case studies describing integration of two students who were diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Data collection was based on direct observation, interview, databases and information from experts. The results and conclusions shall help to improve pegagogical skills of teachers. Furthermore the thesis shall serve as a source of information and guideline for parents, for whom the sufficient education is very essential.
Applied cognitive behavioral analysis as an effective tool for the development of of communication skills and problem solving behavior in adolescents diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome
Spilka, Ivo ; Šiška, Jan (referee) ; Valešová Malecová, Barbara (referee)
This Rigorosum Thesis work puts mind to questions how to effectively work with adolescents they were diagnosed with Aspereger's Syndrome. Based on author-led concrete development project, it proves the high efficiency of cognitive behavior techniques for the social learning and the training and improvement of communication skills or additionally for problem behavior solving. Together with those frequently used tools it shows other opportunities how to raise efficiency - especially of Kaizen principles application and of some Neuro-Linguistic- Programming techniques. Theoretical starting points are Structured Learning principles, Applied Behavior Analysis or more precisely Cognitive Behavior Therapy tools, Kirkpatrick four- level model of training processes effectiveness measurement, especially focused on the third level that means target group behavior changes on the daily basis, and Kaizen as a maker of extensive changes through continuous improvement which is frequently used so far for continuous improvement in industry. The efficiency of the author developed and led project is certified by 360degree feedback based on the competence model of one concrete secondary grammar school in Czech Republic which is opening to integrate students with diagnosed autistic spectrum disorders.

Solving mathematical problems of pupil with Asperger's Syndrome
Bonaventurová, Anna ; Sotáková, Hana (advisor) ; Rendl, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with a student with Asperger Syndrome (hereinafter referred to as "AS") and his procedures for processing mathematical tasks. In the theoretical part is introduced the background of this diagnosis, with emphasis on the description of cognitive specifics and deficits. The research part presents a work with a student suffering from the AS who is integrated into a regular school. It is a case study - one of the possible designs of qualitative research. The goal is a deeper understanding of the cognitive mechanisms in AS based on case studies, or the description of the impact of deficits and the specifics of cognition to solve mathematical problems. This approach can be considered to be relatively new as the attention is often paid to the external manifestations i. e. the behavior of people with AS instead of examining the internal causes of the issues. The research results can help to understand the different autistic perception and processing of information. This understanding is important, because of an increasing number of integrated pupils with the AS diagnoses in mainstream schools. Therefore it is desirable to understand this issue in relation to the school and school success. Keywords Asperger Syndrome, Mathematics, Cognitive deficits, Cognitive style
