Dream Journals is an art installation which is reflecting my dream world. Long term collected text notes are my thematic fragments for finding a found footage videos. The selection is based on visual similarities and atmosphere. These videos are combined with textures and found sounds. A spectator can't see clean digital image but he's looking through transparent material. The fact that video has not defined start and end amplifies dream aesthetics.

Dream in Czech art of the first half of the 20th century and the dream theme in art education

The main aim of this thesis is concerned with dream as an inspirational source and as specific state of mind. Theoretical part describes dream from psychological point of view but also dream ramifications on the art in the first half of the 20th century. The thesis describes not only an introduction of surrealism as a new art style in French and Czech countries, but also birth of new art techniques. The work also maps dream reports of Jindřich Štyrský and their depictions as an author's primary source of imagination. Didactic part includes a survey aimed at sixth grader's dreams and didactic project consists of four painting tasks. Each task thematically follows specific parts of theoretical chapter. Dreams and other formations in communication with self and with others

The goal of this thesis is to accentuate the communicational aspect of dealing with unconscious manifestations, with emphasis on handling dreams. Based on the analysis of Sigmund Freud's texts, it examines the ways in which we can talk about dreams and other unconscious manifestations and what influence such talk has on the individuals participating in the communicational process. The thesis charts several of Sigmund Freud's important texts that are used as a basis to prove that thanks to the mystery surrounding it, a dream can exert significant influence on communication. Sigmund Freud's theory was chosen for this thesis, whose works about dreams and whose interest in examining unconscious manifestations, such as forgetting, slipping of the tongue, faulty acts and other, contain a communicational potential, whose surface Freud barely scratches, or which he often treats with outright neglect. The communicational aspect of Freud's works is accentuated thanks to Roman Jakobson's theory of communication. Keywords: dream, faulty acts, communication

Prenatal dreams tchämong in Korea

The aim of this thesis is to present tchämong, a specific Korean dream of conception, that if properly interpretated can provide some information pertaining to the conception and other qualities of the unborn child to the dreamer. This thesis contextualizes tchämong into a broader category of dreams of conception, and then focuses on its specific features in Korea's culture. The fundamental aim of this paper is to exemplify the claim that tchämong is embedded in the system of traditional beliefs, practices and myths, which act as a main factor in continuing this tradition into modern times. The primary focus is given to tchämong within the framework of pregnancy practices and beliefs and close relation between tchämong and myths, which is expressed especially in its symbolism.

Does consciousness exhaust the nature of thought? The meaning of Descartes's term "cogitare"

The aim of this thesis is to deal with the problems which arise from interpretations of Descartes' term "cogitare". It concentrates on the deconstruction of the orthodox interpretations which explain the term "cogitare" as "to be conscious". The thesis aims at introducing three alternative interpretations from Czech academic environment, the one of James Hill, of Petr Glombíček, and of Tomáš Marvan. I would like to refer to the problems of orthodox reading as well as to benefits and losses of the other interpretations. I will proceed through analysis of sensory perceptions, emotions and dream. The purpose of the thesis is not to find the definite meaning of "cogitare", but to make the readers familiar with these problems and their interpretations which I find more plausible than the orthodox interpretation. The term "consciousness" is a complex term which needs to be explained in order to be capable of explaining other philosophical problems. Milan Kundera and intertextuality

The diploma thesis Milan Kundera and Intertextuality deals with aspects of relations between the texts in his novels. The first part outlines the intertextuality, theory of the novel and the approaches of some literary theorists towards this issue. The second half of the thesis analyzes the intertextuality in Kundera's works in various forms, mainly based on the themes of dreams and physicality. The greatest emphasis is placed on examining the legacy of Kafka in the context of Kundera's works, particularly in the novels The Joke and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Dream reflection of mental illness ...from the point of view of daseinsanalysis

This paper presents 12 individual case studies representing three different psychiatric diagnoses: depression, schizophrenia, and phobia. The collected data suggests that aspects of each one of the disorders covered are somehow reflected in the dreams and dream existence of the patients. Based on repeated in-depth interviews (n=48) with each of the participants (n=12), it is clear that dream content often repeats in each individual. Further phenomenological and qualitative content analysis revealed repetition of characteristic dream content (feelings, phenomenon, and existentials) in each of the three groups. While more research is needed, the results suggest dream content could be a significant tool in establishing a diagnosis and in aiding the psycho-therapeutic process.

Philosophy as Passionate Interest

The purpose of my dissertation is to analyze and further elaborate upon its main topic: the questions that are of a mutual deep interest to both medicine and philosophy. The dissertation has three parts. In the first part, I will introduce some of the key terms that will be used throughout the text. The second part, central to my work, is concerned with three possibilities that are offered to us - play and playing, dream and dreaming, poetic being - all become the places where comprehending, listening (to both the speech and the silence) and responding materialize. Playing, dreaming, poetic being - each offers our daily reality the beauty of transcending its borders without destroying them; in fact, they become a free spirited, passionate interest that enhances and makes valuable the ordinariness and finiteness of our daily lives. Freedom and Responsibility; I and the Other Person; Illness and Hope - each having its physical aspect and each being considered through the dimensions of seriousness and unseriousness, reason and unreason - will be rethought through playing, dreaming and poetic being, providing new insights of an engaged, passionate practice of philosophy and medicine.
