The media image of danish director lars von trier in contrast to popular and professional magazine

The topic of the bachelor thesis is "Media Image of The Danish Director Lars von Trier in Contrast of A Professional and A Popular Magazine." Media image is a very broad term that deserves a more detailed explanation. It contains several aspects of the media as well as cultural and social areas: a construction of the text, a way of how to work with information, services for the readers, the elements of art journalism or the principles of the proper use of the Czech language. Last but not least, objectivity, the semiotic semantic encoding of texts, the policy of selected printed periodicals and ultimately, the personal and the professional life of the films' creator including his works. The thesis represents the controversial filmmaker Lars von Trier in the context of his work and personality. Emphasis is placed on journalistic work at the weekly periodical Reflex and the quarterly magazine Film and Time (Film a doba). Selection is not random - its purpose is to highlight the diversity of styles of the popular and specialised periodicals, as indicated by the term "contrast" in the title of the bachelor thesis. Travel tourism magazines on the czech media market-a comparative analysis of the C.O.T.Business and National geographic

Travel periodicals are one of the means, how can readers - potential tourists to learn about a specific destination, or be motivated to visit presented country. This diploma thesis describes the development and transformation of the tourism magazines that are published in the Czech Republic after 1989. The attention is focused on the title COT business (for professionals) and National Geographic (for the public). Although targeted at different audiences, both periodicals bring news and coverage from destinations, interviews with travelers, practical travel advices and thus contribute for the increase or decline of demand for various places. Selected magazines gradually gained a strong position on the Czech media market and can be thus described as prototypes in their segment. Especially in recent years in comparison with the competition selected periodicals have declined in sold costs, advertising revenues and readership. The Veřejné mínění (Public Opinion) Journal (1946-1948)

This thesis approaches the theoretical concepts of public opinion, its history and origins of public opinion research in the Czechoslovak Republic and abroad. It describes the circumstances of the creation, operation and termination of the Czechoslovak Institute for Public Opinion Research, which was established under the leadership of Josef Kopta and came under the I. Department of the Ministry of Information. More particularly provides a detailed view of The Veřejné mínění Journal, which was published between 1946 and 1948 and the publisher was the institute. Among the personalities associated with the institute and the magazine belonged Čeněk Adamec, Bohuš Pospíšil and Milan A. Tesař. The journal represented a Europe-wide unique. No other institution published a similar format of the journal, which conceived as the major topic of public opinion. It was a professional and popularization journal, which was addressed to experts and the general public. Individual subsections describe the specific content of the journal, which, inter alia, consist of professional articles of various kinds, reports on domestic and foreign researches, comments from readers and other sections. Forbes magazine's position in the chech market in the frst year of its existence

This bachelor thesis named The Forbes Magazine's Position on the Czech Market in the First Year of Existence aims to introduce in detail the Czech mutation of Forbes, which is one of the best known and widely read economic journals, and then to compare its content and graphical layout and activities on websites and social networks Facebook and Twitter with similarly specialized weekly magazines Euro and Ekonom. The bachelor thesis focuses on the first year of the publication of Forbes Czech Republic, namely on the period between November 2011, when the first issue of Forbes was launched, and October 2012. Two basic methods - analytical and comparative - were used to elaborate this thesis. The bachelor thesis consists of three chapters. The first one represents the theoretical basis. It briefly characterizes magazines and journals as the part of the periodical press and closely describes their forms focusing on the post-communist period in the Czech Republic. The second chapter introduces Forbes Czech Republic and presents its content and graphical analysis, including the mapping of activities on the Internet. The third part is based on the analyses of weekly magazines Euro and Ekonom. The thesis ends with the comparison of these three periodicals.
Čin magazine in years 1929-1939

The master's thesis Čin magazine in 1929 - 1939 deals with the cultural-political magazine Čin, which was issued in Prague in between the world wars. This left-wing and democratically orientated weekly, later a fortnightly, magazine focused on current cultural and public issues within former Czechoslovakia. The thesis aims to provide a thorough profile of what was an important and distinctive periodical in its time. Firstly, the thesis deals with outlining the notion of the magazine within the mass media, further on it describes the characteristics of the media landscape in the period of the first and second republic, where the printed media and their related area of problems are dealt with in detail. A subchapter on the cultural and political standing of Czechoslovakia in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century is also included, the focus is also on the position of the Čin magazine in the array of magazines of that time. The ensuing parts of the thesis already deal with the periodical itself, firstly in the period from 1929 to 1936, when the magazine was under the leadership of Marie Majerová, and secondly in the period of leadership of Bohumil Přikryl, that is from 1937 to 1939. The diploma thesis Marketing Magazines in 1990-2011 in the Czech Republic deals with magazines devoted to the field of marketing published between 1990 and 2011 in the Czech Republic in the context of the transformation and development of society, economy and media. The main goal of the thesis is to analyze the field and development of marketing magazines in the mentioned period. First, the thesis deals with the social and economic changes after 1989 as the prerequisites for constitution and historical development of marketing and media market and subsequently, by method of historical-comparative analysis, it analyzes selected editorial, formal and content characteristics of marketing magazines. In addition to magazines published in the years 1990-2011, the thesis also deals with titles from the period before 1989, which we could consider their predecessors. Last but not least, the thesis deals with selected online competitors of marketing printed periodicals, which have occurred and developed in the studied time period.
Content analysis of men's lifestyle magazines

The aim of this study is to examine the contents of men's lifestyle magazines such as Maxim, Esquire, FHM, and one women's lifestyle magazine Glanc. The author used two analytical procedures: qualitative analysis by experts group and quantitative content analysis of sentences in the selected articles of the chosen magazines. The analysis pointed out the differences between the perception of content and the actual content. If the reader has some impression of the text, it does not mean that a more detailed analysis of sentences will reach the same conclusion. Effect of text is highly individual matter - this thesis came to the conclusion that although men's lifestyle magazines can be controversial for some people, upon closer examination the magazines cannot be clearly labeled as chauvinistic, cynical, ironic or tabloid. The author devoted to these categories in detail in the quantitative part of the analysis. The present thesis deals with three volumes of Listy, review for arts and philosophy, edited by Jindřich Chalupecký and, subsequently, co-edited by Jan Grossman and the undisclosed editorial board, published in 1946-48 first as a quarterly, later as a monthly. The main focus of the thesis is on the description of single issues, their analysis, outline of the articles and general depiction of the goals the editorial board attempted to fulfill. Furthermore, the thesis analyzes the contemporary literary context and the place of Listy within it. The thesis also includes the review's annotated bibliography with the author and subject indexes.
Reflection of a girl'sworld in the magazine Bravo Girl!

The main aim of the graduation thesis "Reflection of a girl's world in the magazine Bravo Girl!" using Critical Discourse Analysis is to identify ideology hidden in the texts of the mentioned magazine and to analyze all forms of the ideology "us" against "them". The theoretical part focuses on the significant concepts related to a text and its analysis and simultaneously deals with social and psychological aspects of gender socialization process. Special attention is paid to topics such as family, school, friends, new technologies and media. The author finds them to be a dominant source of influence in the life of teenage girls. The analytical part presents a girl's world from the Bravo Girl! point of view and inspects the language used by girls and the magazine. It attempts to estimate to which extent the magazine through language reflects values, attitudes and priorities of teenage girls and what is the role of the magazine in this.
