The phenomenon of the advantages of the home environment in Czech football: an analysis of the influence of the (non) presence of fans on the behavior of players and referees
Kotěra, Jan ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Šafr, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines the impact of the absence of fans on the so-called home-field advantage within the Czech football league. The aim was to verify the validity of conclusions from foreign studies on local data. The methodology used included t-tests for comparing match statistics with and without fans, and multiple linear regression with interactions. The results show that the absence of fans significantly influenced the match statistics. For most of the analyzed variables, there was either a complete elimination of the difference between the home and away teams, or this difference was at least halved compared to matches with fans. The influence of fans was demonstrated in the statistics of both home and away teams, for example, in variables such as the number of points and ball possession. In other player behavior- measuring statistics, there was a statistically significant (p-value < 0.05) impact only on the home team's statistics. As for the referees' decision-making, measured by fouls and yellow cards, in the absence of fans, they significantly changed their approach only towards the away teams. However, this too led to an overall reduction in home-field advantage. This work thus provides evidence of the significant influence of social forces, represented by the presence of fans, on...

Radimecká, Magdaléna ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Podaná, Zuzana (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of domestic violence in connection with the intergenerational transmission of aggressive behaviour. The aim of this work is to test the hypotheses on data from Pilot Survey of Students from 2018. The first part of the thesis presents theories that explain the origin or reproduction of domestic violence. In addition to the theory of intergenerational transmission, it is, for example, the theory of social learning, which is often cited together with the above-mentioned theory. I also deal with methodological aspects and specifications of Pilot Survey of Students from 2018. In this part of the work also set of hypotheses for subsequent analysis is formulated. In the analytical part, the results of the analyzes are presented, their interpretation and hypotheses tested, the validity of which was confirmed through secondary data analysis. The conclusions from the conducted research thus confirmed the validity of the main thesis of my bachelor's thesis: "The intergenerational transmission of aggressive behavior has an effect on the reproduction of domestic violence". Key words: domestic violence, aggressive behavior, intergenerational transmission

Sýkorová, Barbora ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Mudd, Dana (referee)
The thesis is conducted in the form of applied sociological research in the company XY, where I work. Company XY belongs to a multinational corporation and is engaged in manufacturing and development for the automotive industry. The sociological research is conceived in the form of a quantitative questionnaire survey, specifically it was an exhaustive survey of 7 selected departments of XY. A total of 770 employees were contacted, the participation rate was around 50 % and the final sample consists of 395 respondents. The survey deals with the topic of employee identification with the company and attitudes towards the company, but also includes a block dealing with attitudes towards work, focusing on the topics of job satisfaction, meaningfulness of work, motivation for good work performance, social climate in the company and the topic of stability. The aim of the study was to find out what factors influence employee identification with the company. Using multiple linear regression, the results of our analysis confirmed that employee identification with the company is significantly predicted by the factor of motivation, and the degree of employee identification with the company is most influenced by whether the employee enjoys and finds the work fulfilling. Another significant predictor is the...
Attitudes of secondary school students towards physical education
Janíčková, Klára ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Šafr, Jiří (referee)
(english) This thesis focuses on the issue of non-participation of adolescents in physical education classes in secondary schools. The main aim of the thesis was to identify the causes of this phenomenon and to find possible alternatives that would lead to increased participation of students in physical education. The research combines quantitative surveys in secondary schools and qualitative interviews with selected students who show reduced activity in physical education classes. The research suggests that the most significant influence on participation and enjoyment of physical education classes is the content of the classes, among other social factors. Furthermore, the qualitative interviews revealed that secondary school students have a need to manifest their independence through the need for autonomy during classes, appeal for personal development and also manifest their autonomy by resisting authority. The interviews also highlighted the considerable fragility of identity during adolescence, with adolescents' identities being influenced by social judgements, the judgmental nature of society and pressure to perform. The present paper comes up with recommendations that could help in designing school curriculum and modifying the school environment and teachers' approach to physical education...

Gender differences in juvenile delinquency
Konopásková, Eliška ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of delinquency from the point of view of R. Agnew's general strain theory, using data from the International Self-Report Delinquency Study 3 (ISRD 3), which relate to the area of strain. The aim of this thesis is to verify the connection between selected aspects of strain and delinquency and then try to identify differences between boys and girls. In the theoretical part of the thesis, attention is paid first to the general strain theory and then to its later extension that includes the perspective of gender. Hypotheses are defined based on the presented theory. In the methodological part, ISRD research is described and the self-report survey method is also introduced. In the last part, which is devoted data analysis, the proposed hypotheses are tested using regression analysis. The result is that the effect of morality is stronger for girls, but no significant differences between boys and girls are confirmed for the effect of crime in the neighborhood and also for the effect of experiencing a difficult life event. Keywords: gender differences, juvenile delinquency, ISRD-3, general strain theory
Crime and Punishment in Television News
Háková, Lucie ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee) ; Lubelcová, Gabriela (referee)
The thesis deals with the media representation of crime and crime news as a specific image of reality. The aim of the thesis was to analyse the role of the media in the process of defining crime as one of the risks in contemporary risk society and the part of the media portrayal of crime which plays in the process of legitimising appropriate ways to manage these risks. The study attempted to clarify the way in which the topic of crime as an agenda of the news media operates, how criminal risk is constructed through the media in contemporary society, and how it is understood by the public. The media construction of crime risk was examined in three different ways. A quantitative content analysis of television crime news focused on describing the characteristics of crime news in general and the specific differences between public television and commercial television news. By analysing the media representation of crime types, specific crimes, crime news actors and punishments, the differences in the media construction of crime risk between the two types of news coverage were highlighted. A qualitative content analysis of the media representation of probation, using a specific example, showed how the topic of probation is reflected in the Czech media space and focused on how to thematise crime risk in...

Bajus, Peter ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee)
(in English) This thesis focuses on the phenomenon of street harassment and analyses the ways in which this phenomenon is framed in the Czech media. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to a comprehensive view of street harassment, its definition, its impact on harassed women or theories explaining its origin. I also look at the extent to which street harassment is widespread in the world. I also describe how the media influence the construction and perception of the world and how street harassment is presented in the world media. The main aim of this thesis is to identify media frames related to street harassment in Czech news websites. The media frames were identified using the qualitative frame analysis method, in four news servers selected on the basis of their viewership, credibility and proclaimed ideological neutrality. Thus, I conducted the analysis on the news servers Aktuálně.cz, Seznam zprávy, iDNES.cz and Parlamentní listy. In these monitored servers, I sought answers to the research questions: how and through which frames is street harassment presented in the selected news servers over the monitored period, and are there differences in the framing of this topic between news servers? Using qualitative frame analysis, I identified a total of eight frames and four sub- frames...
