I focused on one part of project 'Methodics', which is called 'Digital learning materials'. I tried to describe the functionality of this module, its organisational structure and internal processes, the work of the coordinator, the reviewer and the editor. I tried to define the basic, control, crucial and implementation processes, which are carried out in this structure. The category of competence and its interpretation by teachers in practice

This dissertation deals with issues related to the realization of the concept of key competencies as educational goals which are being brought about by curricular reform. The theoretical component is aimed at researching the way key competencies are treated in the relevant literature and in European and Czech curricular documents. This section deals with the conception and implementation of key competencies in national educational programs in the EU countries. Various procedures in these countries are compared and evaluated in relation to curricular reforms in the Czech Republic and in conjunction with the interpretation of key competencies in the Framework Educational Program for Basic Education. The research component of the dissertation focuses on mapping out the understanding of key competencies on the part of the ‚main players' of curricular reform (teachers, teacher trainers, school inspectors) whose responsibility it is to bring this new concept into pedagogical practice.
Students' Attitudes Towards Chemistry According to the Secondary School They Attend

TITLE: Students' Attitudes Towards Chemistry According to the Secondary School They Attend AUTHOR: PhDr. Martin Rusek DEPARTMENT: Katedra chemie a didaktiky chemie SUPERVISOR: prof. RNDr. Pavel Beneš, CSc. ABSTRACT: The research presented in this thesis completes the data with the information about so far neglected vocational schools students' attitudes towards chemistry. After the curricular reform, impact put on general education, including chemistry, brings considerable changes in this area. The questionnaire used was focused on three spheres: students' attitudes towards chemistry, didactical facilities used in chemistry education and students' attitudes towards particular chemical topics. The questionnaire was submitted to students (N = 959) at the beginning of the school year after they entered secondary school. That way the results reflect students' attitudes constructed at primary schools. The results show negative students' attitudes. They are mostly affected by the difficulty of the subject and also by students' low interest in the topics. It was also proved that topics close to students' lives play a vital role. Communication competences in kindergarten curriculum

The thesis focuses on a concept of communicative competences in the curricula at the stage of pre-school education and introduces the possibilities of development of these competences in kindergarten. The theoretical part outlines issues of curriculum, key competences and communicative competences in the context of pre-primary education. The research is a presentation of qualitative-quantitative research, which aimed to analyze the concept of communicative competences in the curricula of kindergartens and based on direct observation to find out, how kindergarten teachers meet the communicative competences at this stage of education, how to diagnose them and what opportunities provides kindergarten environment to develop pre-school children communication competences. Based on the analysis of curriculum documents of selected kindergartens we found that schools include communicative competences in their conceptual materials and attach great importance to them, even if these documents have different content and formal level. From our observations and interviews with respondents, we concluded that kindergartens and their teachers usually provide good conditions for children to develop their communicative competences (positive communication climate, proper teacher speech pattern, primary prevention,...
Role of school libraries in development of media literacy in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis examines the possibilities of involving school librarians and information specialists in the process of growth in media literacy at Czech schools. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly introduces the general issues of media education and media literacy in our country and abroad, while the practical part of the thesis based on its own research, focuses on a particular target group - Prague secondary schools ("gymnázium"). Using a questionnaire and five case studies conducted at selected secondary schools in Prague, it conducts a survey of the current situation of implementation of media education in the Czech Republic. The end of the thesis deals with some ideas of how to involve graduates of the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship in teaching media education according to the American model of a "teacher librarian".
Education through the Geography in Curricular Reformation Period of Czech Education System: Reflection of the Changes at Selected Prague's Grammar Schools

The thesis, as the title suggests, focuses on education of Geography and analysis of Geography as a subject at Prague grammar schools. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of curricular changes on teaching Geography. Furthermore, the thesis is to analyze the ideas of the Geography teachers on teaching methods and content taught to students in their lessons. The work also evaluates the variety of opinions of the pedagogues concerning this topic. It also discusses their different views on a new form of the state leaving exam. Moreover, it looks for the answer whether the new exam might change the methodology of Geography. This work is mainly based on a critical evaluation of expert materials as far as the school reform is concerned. The empirical part itself consists of the survey results and the assessment of directed interviews with 11 respondents, who are the Geography teachers at nine Prague grammar schools.

The thesis, as the title suggests, is devoted to education in Geography. More specifically, the work analyzes teaching Geography at Prague grammar schools. The work objective is to assess the effects of the ongoing curriculum amendments on teaching Geography and to assess, analyze and review: a) The differences in the approach towards education in Geography at individual Prague high schools. b) The ideas of Geography teachers themselves on how much time should be devoted to particular geographical topics or topics otherwise related to Geography. Next, the work assesses the homogeneity of opinions in this respect. It also studies the homogeneity of particular Geography theme plans at individual schools also with respect to the planned change in school leaving exams. The work is based on a critical assessment of expert materials concerning the school reform. The empirical part itself is grounded in survey results and the assessment of directed interviews with 11 respondents, who are Geography teachers at 9 Prague grammar schools.
The meaning of Cross-curricular Themes in primary school education

My diploma thesis deals with Cross-curricular themes for teaching in primary school education and especially with the Cross-curricular theme Education to Thinking in European and Global Context. In the theoretical section I have explained the changes in the curriculum, the White paper and the Framework educational program and briefly I have characterized all Cross-curricular themes. Theoretically and within educational areas I have focused on the Cross-curricular theme Education to Thinking in European and Global Context. In the practical section I have done a survey of primary school teachers to examine attitudes to Cross-curricular themes and the integration of the Cross-curricular theme Education to Thinking in European and Global Context into lessons. I have compared relation to each Cross-curricular theme. I have also suggested an intensive instruction leading to the formation of attitudes and opinions by content of the Education to Thinking in European and Global Context.
Cross - curricular Themes at Middle School Level

Diploma thesis deals with cross-curricular themes at middle school level. In theoretical part the cross-curricular themes are described, as included in the general curriculum for basic education. Further attention is dedicated to {\clqq}Multicultural education``. Practical part includes the survey of teachers at elementary schools in reference to their work on the school curriculum for basic education and cross-curricular themes. Diploma thesis also includes suggestion of several lessons which can be used for multicultural education.
Changes in Teachers' Attitude towards Evaluation of pupils (age 6-10)in Connection with Curricular Reform of Our Educational System

The Thesis is focusing on the transformation of the approach towards the evaluation of the pupils at the primary school level. Some partial observations can be achieved by this theses mainly in connection to the changing approaches of the teachers of the primary level towards them in connection to the requirenments or the evaluation of the pupils in accordance with RVP ZV. With the help of the specialized literature I described the types and forms of the evaluation and classification used on the primary school level as well as the criteria and rules for the evaluation of pupils in the theorethical part of the thesis. In the inquiry part of the thesis I compared approaches of the teachers towards evaluation and classification used on the primary school level in relation to the introduction of the specific class work realized according to the SVP itself.
