System of care for people with deafblindness in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with deafblind people and their lives. The work investigates how the system of care for these people works in the Czech Republic and how the clients themselves are satisfied with this care. The introductory theoretical part provides basic information about dual sensory impairment, it explains the concept of "deafblindness", describes its classification, etiology and diagnosis. Attention is also given to several fundamental pillars of care of people with deafblindness, such as communication, education, social services, career success, socialization, aids, etc. Second part of this thesis consists of research that has been done using questionnaires with aim to determine how the care of the deafblind is implemented in the Czech Republic and how it is evaluated by particular clients. Survey results have provided personal reference of deafblind individuals about services, organizations and aids, about their frequency and availability. Experiences of clients of the aftercare centers in Prague with employment at the job market

Background: There are many researches on the topic of employing (ex) drug users in abroad, but a little works in the Czech Republic. Its pioneers did not aim specifically to describe a group of clients of aftercare centers who are most closely to the working process. Aims: In cooperation with three Prague aftercare centers (Drop In, Magdaléna, SANANIM) and Work and social agency SANANIM to map and describe job experiences of their clients on the job market. Next aim is to create a typology of clients in the aftercare centers according to their current un/employment. Complex of recommendations how to prevent mistakes at the job market was suggested. Methods: Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used to data collection - a questionnaire to map experiences of clients at the job market and interviews for detailed description of client types. Data analysis was carried out by open cosiny and descriptive statistics. All the ethical questions were kept. Sample: Basic population was created by all current clients of aftercare centers in Prague. It was necessary to fulfil these criteria: to be current client of some of the centers, to have at least one contact with the job market during the aftercare programme and to give an agreement with attendance in the study. The Employment Prospects of Persons with Disabilities in the Open Labour Market

The thesis is focused on the employment of persons with disabilities in the open labour market. The concepts related to disability and handicap have been dealt in the theoretical part as so as the importance of employment for people with disabilities, employment issues and embedding the right to work in an international and Czech rule of law have been discussed. In the empirical part the attitudes of employers to the disabled employees, their motives and experiences are evaluated. In the frame of thesis, that is being reached by qualitative research using the semi-structured interviewing employers in three districts of the Central Bohemia.
Use of Ergotherapy for People with Mental disabilities in Social therapeutic workshop

The bachelor's thesis deals with ergotherapy for people with mental disabilities in social therapeutic workshop. It is focused on mental disability, social therapeutic workshop characterization and above all it shows ergotherapy as one of possible ways of working with people with disability. New skill acquisition in the workshop contributes to the development and preservation of abilities of people with mental disabilities. That also helps to improve their quality of life. The main target of the bachelor thesis is to present a specific therapeutic program for selected clients focuses on development of cognitive functions and fine motor skills. At described cases of two clients with moderate mental disability it was shown how different can be the benefits of ergotherapy treatment. For one client the ergotherapy meant rather meaningful time spending and fine motor skills development and for the other more likely time to learn technological procedures which can be used in the future employment. This concrete case confirmed the necessity of long-term care for mentally disabled clients to have enough time to teach them necessary skills. Kateřina Svěcená, Ph.D. Title: Job Opportunities for Occupational Therapists in Social Services Abstract: Background: In addition to healthcare, occupational therapy is also widely used in social services. In the Czech Republic, this area has not yet been mapped in any detail. Within social services, there is a significant problem with the payment of health care workers, occupational therapists also face a non-uniform official position within social services. Goal formulation: The work aims to map and describe the current situation of employment of occupational therapists in social services in the Czech Republic. Four questions of the bachelor's thesis are chosen to fulfill the goal. Methodology: A structured survey is compiled for all occupational therapists working in the field of occupational therapy in the Czech Republic, which is sent online. Social inclusion and employment of adults with Asperger syndrome

The topic of this work is "Social inclusion and employment of adults with Asperger syndrome". The thesis aims to present the specifics of social inclusion and employment of adults with Asperger syndrome. In the theoretical part of the work, a reader is acquainted with the term Asperger syndrome, with the development of expert terminology, symptoms, diagnosis and prevalence. Then a reader is acquainted with the social position of adults with this syndrome, specifically with a person with Asperger syndrome in the role of a friend, a partner and a parent. Subsequently, the work deals with the employment of adults with Asperger syndrome. The theoretical part describes training and positive work characteristics of these people, but also difficulties that these people may have in the work process. The conclusion of the theoretical part outlines supported employment of the people with Asperger syndrome, sheltered workshops and occupational rehabilitation. The practical part of this work contains an interpretation of the quantitative research, which was conducted by means of an online questionnaire survey. This thesis focuses on designing a method to assess work by people with disabilities on woodworking machines. Firstly, the disability itself was analysed to give us an overall picture of the issue: the distribution and restrictions of the disability, legislation, state support, and research into sheltered and social & therapeutic workshops. The next part focuses on procedures to create a safe working environment, to ensure occupational safety, ergotherapy and diagnostic methods used to determine the extent of the restrictions resulting from the disability. The main part of the thesis proposes a methodological approach that will enable the establishment of the conditions under which a person with a disability can safely perform predetermined machining work. The method has been practically verified in the sheltered workshop ‘V růžovém sadu’, where it enabled a worker with a disability to perform machining work.
Job opportunities for persons with hearing impairments

The diploma thesis focuses on the employment of persons with hearing impairments. In the theoretical part, the introductory chapters pay attention to the terminological definition from the perspective of surdopaedia, classification of hearing impairments and the possibility of communication of persons with hearing impairments. Furthermore, the theoretical part is devoted to approaches to education and education systems for persons with hearing impairments. The thesis also describes the situation of employing persons with hearing impairment not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Germany, Slovakia and Great Britain. In the practical part, the situation of work of persons with hearing impairments is analyzed by means of a research survey, which has the character of mixed research. A structured interview for clients of the organization Silent world and a semi-structured questionnaire were used for the research investigation. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the situation of work of persons with hearing impairment and possibilities of work of persons with hearing impairments in the Czech Republic, this goal is achieved by research investigation.
