i-CT Framework and Application for Sign Language Translation

The aim of this thesis was to create two applications for people with learning difficulties. The first, i-CT Framwork, is also an executable application to be used with the target group mentioned above. As an executable application, i-CT Framework operates as a central tool for managing users, applications, and user restrictions. Development of Gesture Translator application presented another aim of the thesis: this application can translate sign language gestures for people with learning difficulties. Both applications are functioning on Android as well as iOS operating systems.

Development of i-CT Framework and Application for Communication of YES/NO Type

This master thesis deals with issues of development of applications for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in environment of special education for mentally challenged pupils with communication disorders. Thesis presents issues of development contemporary applications and follows on design principles of Computer therapy project, which compliance during the design and implementation should prevent the current issues. The aim of the thesis is creation of application for AAC of YES/NO type and i-CT framework - framework simplifying creation of similar apps for described environment. Both apps works on iOS and Android systems and were tested in an environment of people with mental disabilities.

Advocacy activities of parents of children with developmental disabilities under state socialism: Example of Inclusion Czech Republic (SPMP ČR)

The diploma thesis is about the organisation Sdružení pro pomoc mentálně postiženým. Using the example of this enterprise, which was founded in the late 1960s from below and without political cover, the thesis tries to show the possibilities that parents of mentally handicapped children had at that time. From the beginning of its existence, this parent-based advocacy platform sought to highlight the paradoxical unsystematic nature of the domestic institutionalised system of care for the mentally disabled. Parents were bothered by the lack of choice, as there were only year-round institutions, restrictions on visits, and above all the impossibility of co-determining the fate of their mentally handicapped children. From the beginning, the Association tried to act as a partner of professionals and social welfare institutions as well as political representatives, both at the national and local level. At the same time, however, they had a clear and comprehensive programme, which they defined even before its official establishment. The issue is viewed through the concept of the "field of intellectual disability," an imaginary sociopolitical arena into which the Association entered as a new actor. Inkluze žáka s lehkým mentálním postižením na střední odborné škole

The bachelor thesis deals with the inclu sive education of pupils with mild intellectual disabilities at secondary vocational schools. This work is divided into two parts - the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the concept of intellectual disability, deals with the etiology and classification of intellectual disability, the characteristics of individual degrees of intellectual disability, the education of pupils with intellectual disabilities, and their integration or inclusion. It also describes what the personal educational plan is and looks into the activities of the assistant teacher and his role in helping pupils with intellectual disabilities. The practical part summarizes the results of the research on the issue of education of pupils with intellectual disabilities. The aim was to find out what kind of experience educators have educating pupils with intellectual disabilities, and if they see any advantages and disadvantages in integrating pupils with mild intellectual disabilities at secondary vocational schools. Respondents were teachers from various vocational schools mainly from the South Moravian and Vysočina Regions. Quantitative methodology was used for research. The aim was to describe the examined reality using subsequently processed data. Based on the data found, a set of measures (suggestions, recommendations) was subsequently drawn up on how to improve the inclusive education of pupils with intellectual disabilities.

The boundaries of social services in the area of the social-health interface - sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the integration of social and health services. The aim is to identify the boundaries of the social service of sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities in the area of the social-health interface. In this thesis social services are defined primarily according to Act No. 108/2006. In order to provide more detailed description of the clients of sheltered housing, the thesis defines the concept of intellectual disability, especially in adulthood. It focuses on sheltered housing and sheltered housing workers as well as methods and techniques of work in this social service. The thesis also deals with the interdisciplinary perspective of social work with people with intellectual disabilities while it also describes selected expertise and services in the social-health interface. One of the chapters is dedicated to the systemic approach. The analytical part of the thesis contains the methodology of the research, the subject of which is specific sheltered housing. Advantages and disadvantages of educating pupils with mental disabilities in independently established classes at elementary school

This thesis Advantages and disadvantages of educating pupils with intellectual disabilities in independently established classes at elementary school deals with the issue of classes established according to Section 16, paragraph 9 of the School Act at elementary schools, specifically their advantages and disadvantages from the perspective of special education. The thesis is divided into two main parts: the theoretical part and the part of the own research investigation. The theoretical part is dedicated to individuals with intellectual disabilities, education of pupils with intellectual disabilities, and the collaboration between the school and the family of pupils with intellectual disabilities. The own research was conducted through qualitative investigation in the form of semi- structured interviews with twelve respondents. The part of the own research focuses on methodology, presentation of research data, main findings, discussion and recommendations for practice. Education towards Health at Practical one-year School

This diploma thesis focuses on Education towards health at Practical one-year school. The thesis is divided into three parts. First, the theoretical part describes didactic methods used during education, the subject of Education towards Health, intellectual disability and the way it affects pupils at school, Practical one-year school and its place in the Czech education system and lastly it presents tools that teachers use for effective teaching especially for the subject of Education towards Health and with intellectually disabled pupils. The availability of different materials for teaching this subject at Practical one-year school is presented in the second part of this work, that in the form of charts sums up the results of a questionnaire. It confirms the original assumption, that there is a lack of materials among the responders. The last part of the thesis is practical. The aim of this work was to create various tools that can be used for teaching some aspects of Education towards Health at Practical one-year school. The author created and tested 21 different tools, worksheets and games which can be used for teaching said subject to pupils with intellectual disability.
