Analysis and design of intranet structure
Novák, Miroslav ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Šedivá, Zuzana (referee)
Nowadays, Intranet is an inseparable part of every company, notwithstanding of their size or field of activity. Both, in my work and personal life, I often come across different intranets that usually do not get a positive response. But they usually have the same source of the problem, which is based on their wrong structure. This is why is chose this topic for my thesis. The goal of my thesis is to perform an analysis of an existing intranet of a particular company and subsequently create a design of the intranet new structure using the card-sorting method. This thesis primarily represents a generalized method of how to proceed during such realization and which areas to look into. Theoretical part of this thesis covers the topics of information architecture and also the term intranet itself, where the most frequent issues I came across in the intranets are pointed out. Practical part covers the analysis itself, where I focus on the structure of the existing intranet, categorization of its content, connections with other systems, customization, permission management, surveys of contentment, and intranet usage. The analysis is performed manually by scanning through the existing intranet of the company, since other methods or approaches could not be applied due to technical limitations or insufficient permis-sions. Based on the outputs of the analysis, web categorizations and the card-sorting method, a design of a structure of the new intranet has been proposed. The design itself is a demonstration of the method how to approach the new intranet design.

The evaluation of coefficients when determining the optimal number of clusters in cluster analysis
Novák, Miroslav ; Löster, Tomáš (advisor) ; Makhalova, Elena (referee)
The objective of this thesis is the evaluation of selected coefficients of the cluster analysis when determining the optimal number of clusters. The analytical evaluation is performed on 20 independent real datasets. The analysis is made in statistical SYSTAT 13.1 Software. The application of coefficients RMSSTD, CHF, PTS, DB and Dunn's index on real datasets is the main part of this thesis, because the issue of evaluating the results of clustering is not devoted sufficient attention in scientific publications. The main goal is whether the selected coefficients of clustering can be applied in the real situations. The second goal is to compare selected clustering methods and their corresponding metrics when determining the optimal number of clusters. In conclusion, it is found that the optimal number of clusters determined by the coefficients mentioned above cannot be considered to be correct since, after application to the real data, none of the selected coefficients overcome the success rate of 40%, hence, the use of these coefficients in practice is very limited. Based on the practical analysis, the best method in identifying the known number of clusters is the average linkage in connection with the Euclidean distance, while the worst is the Ward's method in connection with the Euclidean distance.
Analysis of intranet in the company and conditions for successful migration
Novák, Miroslav ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Kapitán, Petr (referee)
The thesis focuses on enterprise content management via intranet. The work introduces one company and describes its intranet from the information perspective. A satisfaction survey with intranet among a selected group of employees was developed, executed and evaluated. The following chapter deals with description of Microsoft SharePoint 2013, a technology that was chosen to migrate to in the company described in this work. Its positives as compared to current solution are presented. Finally, the thesis discusses topics to concentrate on in case the enterprise seeks successful migration to a new solution. They are introduced from the internal perspective of a company that might undertake individual steps independently, without and third party support. The thesis includes attachments with illustrations relevant to the selected technology, i.e. SharePoint 2013, and example of the survey form distributed among employees.
Competitive Intelligence in small and medium enterprises
Novák, Miroslav ; Molnár, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Střelka, Jindřich (referee)
This thesis concentrates on Competitive Intelligence which is not well known in the Czech region. On the other hand, it has been a rapidly increasing discipline. The main aim of this thesis is to suggest how to use the methods of Competitive Intelligence in small and medium-sized companies. The theoretical part summarises the terminology of Competitive Intelligence. At first the strategic management is being defined, as it is the basis of practical usage of the Competitive Intelligence methods in companies. The definition of small and medium-sized companies in the Czech business environment is also included in the theoretical part, because the importance of this kind of enterprise constantly grows even in the conditions of the global economics. This part of the thesis is a background research resulting from the available range of the specialized literature and other related sources. The empirical part of the thesis works in detail with the problem of Competitive Intelligence in three retail companies which focus on different business segments. The main aim is to suggest an appropriate solution in the area of monitoring the relevant information resources and other processes of the intelligence cycle. The target company is the one whose information collection and distribution was -- according to the analysis -- considered insufficient. The methods of the analysis include for example Michael Porter's Five Forces Model, SWOT analysis and the analysis of the existing processes of collecting and sharing information in the examined companies. The contribution of this thesis is that it explains the available IT tools and applications which provide systematic monitoring of relevant information sources or collect and distribute information with practical functions responding to demands and needs of MSP. The suggested solution also defines the qualified person responsible for realization of CI processes and it describes the specific activities that the qualified person should perform. The thesis should simplify the process of finding the most appropriate methods in the area of Competitive Intelligence, used in medium-sized and primarily small companies.
Statistical analysis of results from the subject 4ST201
Novák, Miroslav ; Čabla, Adam (advisor) ; Malá, Ivana (referee)
The main goal of this bachelor thesis is the statistical comparison of results from students who attended the course Statistika at the University of Economics in Prague. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is concentrated on the results of students in winter semester of the academic year 2011/2012. This part is mainly focused on mid-term tests throughout semester. In the second part I compare results of students in the summer and winter semester, to this comparison I used data from summer semeseter 2010/2011 and data from winter semester 2011/2012. The small theoretical overview does not miss in the beginning and in the conclusion we can find the summary of all findings and calculations.

Toolbox Jobcontrol s GUI
Novák, Miroslav ; Tesař, Ludvík
Jobcontrol is a toolbox merging a user-friendly graphical user interface with a powerful set of utilities for system identification employing Gaussian mixture model. It is implemented as a set of M-scripts and MEX-binary executables for the Matlab computing environment. It suits to the goal of finding a suitable structure for the given data and then it creates the optimal controller by tuning its parameters to fit the user's requirements.
