The Social Condition of Sole Wage Earners - A Comparative Analysis of Family Policy in The Czech Republic and France

This thesis discuss various steps how institution of family policy in France and the Czech Republic influences the social status of single mothers, or how it affects their standard of living an opportunities. The thesis is based on a comparative analysis of two measures. The first one concerns possibilities of work-life balance, the second one means of prevention from poverty. The key factor influencing work-life balance is the interplay between maternity/ parental leave, public childcare accesibility and flexible working time practice. The character and availability of allowances completes the picture of what the prevailing gender principles in each family policy are. Hence, it also demonstrates the situation of single mothers. Bachelor's thesis: Current problems of work and family life synochronization in Czech families Tereza Šíchová 2013-05-17 Abstract The bachelor thesis "Current problems of work and family life synochronization in Czech families" deals with situation of preschool childcare. One of the goals is to find the right place for this kind of services in the context of work and family synchronization. Due to bad situation about the capacity of the public kindergartens (which are completely full) it really is necessary to find some other possibilities how to make work-life balancing easier. Because it is a dealbreaker for the parenthood. Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Czech Republic puts forward a proposal of using the alternative way of childcare in the sense of private care. But the opinion about private childcare - if it is proper, available and if it comes up our expectations - is still kind of questionable. That is why there is also an empirical part of this thesis. It includes a modest survey. The leading goal of this survey was to find the attitude of Czech parents to the alternative childcare services. 4 ABSTRACT This bachelor thesis focuses on the corporate social responsibility from the perspective of the human resources management. The thesis introduces the concept of corporate social responsibility, describes evolution of this concept and summarizes its main characteristics. In the context of current and expected development the thesis emphasizes the connection between the corporate social responsibility and human resources management, considers the role of human resources professionals and line managers in applying responsible practices in HR and suggests possible ways of integrating the corporate social responsibility values in human resources management practice. It also outlines the process of implementing the corporate social responsibility within an organization and ways of evaluating associated benefits. Thesis focuses the topic of work-life balance in the context of psychology connecting the knowledge and practices of the applied field of work and organizational psychology. The theoretical part is devoted to defining work-life balance while considering the variability of psychological aspects considering the topic. It also characterizes selected areas of work-life balance, summarizes individual personality, developmental and social determinants that were in relation to the work-life balance research proved. Subsequently, attention is moved to the particular tools and strategies which can be useful in achieving or sustaining work-life balance, considering two basic levels. On the one hand, considering individual personal level in achieving balance of individual and on the other hand, the strategies and tools provided by organization leading to the work-life balance. The second part presents a proposal for a research project that aims is to track the relationship between the amount of time devoted to selected areas in the life of an individual, quality of spending time in terms of overall satisfaction and perceived fullness and desire or openness to change in individual's life in selected areas in the perceived work-life balance. Parental Leave as a Tool of Work-life Balance in the Czech Republic and Sweden

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the legislation of parental leave in the Czech Republic and in Sweden in particular with respect to the possibilities of work-life balance, to evaluate an actual use of the system, its impacts on the individual labour markets and gender equality, to subsequently compare these two models and to propose amendments of legislation. The topic was chosen due to its significant impact on a vast amount of people and due to its currency with respect to a progressive change of perception of single parent's roles. The thesis is divided into five chapters following the main aim of the thesis, a comparison of several legislations. The first Chapter shortly describes the main terminology which has been used within the thesis and which is the main subject matter of the paper. Maternity, parental and paternity leave are defined mainly with respect to the purposes of the individual matters. The second Chapter deals with the legislation of the European Union. The relation of the Czech and European law in this field in general is analysed at first. Diploma thesis is deal with the topic of work-life balance in the chosen company. The thesis is divided into three parts – theorethical, analytical and final part. The theorethical part explains atractivity and importance of this topic and describes individual approaches allowing work-life balance and concurrently indicate possible problems of different approaches from the perspective of the employer and the employees. The analytical part examines and evaluate the currect status of chosen company. In the final part are suggested measures based on theoretical knowledge and findings which should lead to a better balance between work and personal lives of employees in a chosen company.

Woman between Family and Work and the Welfare State

Thesis "Women between Family and Work and the Welfare State" examines the challenges of balancing work and family roles of men and women, specifically in relation to institutional conditions of the Welfare State in the Czech Republic. The author analyzes and identifies external factors influencing family life and work balance. Furthermore, the author compares situation in the Czech Republic with selected countries of the European Union. The most important theoretical backgrounds of the thesis are the Welfare State theory, the family theory and the gender inequality theory. The main methods applied in the thesis are secondary data analysis and comparative analysis. The MA is divided in eight chapters. Key part of the thesis is analytical part, which consists of four chapters. First of them analyzes the external and internal factors that influence the behavior of men and women, namely the cultural value framework, structural labor market conditions and preferences of men, women and employers.
