French gastronomy as a cultural phenomenon

Title of the thesis: French gastronomy as a cultural phenomenon. Key words: Gastronomy, culture, Provence, history, quality of food, dining, gastronomic literature, social and cultural problems, Avignon, UNESCO, cultural heritige, culinary personalities. Abstract: This bachelor thesis proposes a summary of French gastronomy as a social and cultural phenomenon. The first part focuses on the history of French gastronomy from the Middle Ages to the end of 19th century with emphasis on the development of gastronomical literature and particularities of every period. The second part deals with contemporary situation of French gastronomy, with gastronomical constests and gastronomical celebrities. The third part presents the regional cusine of Provence, which means its ingredients, methods and traditions. The aim of the thesis is to present French gastronomy and to put it into the cultural framework with the accent on its importance for the French society.

Korean approach to their cultural heritage

This thesis deals with Korean Approach to their Cultural Heritage. The first part focuses on the legal measures and categorization of the cultural heritage with emphasis on the category of national treasures. The following part deals with organizations concerned with the protection, administration, research and promotion of monuments. In the next chapter are mentioned cultural properties inscribed on the UNESCO list together with two prizes sponsored by the Republic of Korea. The last part describes the efforts of Koreans for the return of Korean cultural heritage from abroad.

Environmental aspects in the context of the media coverage of the Czech Repuvlic's cultural herigage and its presentation

This thesis deals with the representation of the natural environment in branding the Czech Republic on the domestic and global market. The aim was to find out how the visual and textual content of CzechTourism information and promotional materials contributes to this and how the representation of nature characterizes the Czech Republic as a cultural tourism destination. The evaluation was based on qualitative analysis. Textual content was analysed using the grounded theory method, selected photographs were subjected to semiotic analysis. The result shows that the Czech Republic is presented through CzechTourism brochures as a country that is a harmonious combination of natural treasures and historical monuments. The Czech Republic seems to be a tourist destination, after a visit to which a change of personality occurs: not only does one's physical and emotional state improve, but also one reflects on a number of issues such as the perception of spiritual values, awareness of oneself as a Czech citizen (for local residents), gaining new knowledge about the history of the Czech state (for foreign tourists). Providing online access to cultural heritage in context of selected issues of information politics.

Theses is devoted to some selected issues of cultural heritage online domain within context of information politics in which it takes a place. After dealing with terminology, including cultural heritage definition based on anthropological concept of culture and segmentation of cultural heritage according to UNESCO activities, the second chapter presents cultural heritage digitization and bringing online activities of European Union as a part of European information politics since 90s of 20th Century (important projects out of Europe are mentioned). Regarding to these politics the chapter focuses on participation of Czech Republic on putting European cultural heritage online. The third chapter is focused on college and university education in digitization and bringing cultural heritage online in USA and Europe, with a special focus on Slovac and Czech Republic. The fourth chapter sums up general characteristics of cultural heritage information systems and introduces some possible ways of their use in education and as information sources in libraries. The last chapter presents outputs of project devoted to development of digital library specialized on bringing online data obtained by research in private libraries.

The Future of Cultural and Historical Heritage: Application of Big Data in the Digital Humanities

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of preserving cultural heritage in the context of digital humanities. The topic of this work will be the presentation of modern tools and technologies aimed at preserving cultural memory in Europe. The aim of this work will be to map the benefits and potential risks of digital infrastructures CESSDA, ARIADNE PLUS and DARIAH-EU for the preservation of cultural heritage. The work will be divided into three parts - the theoretical part will briefly introduce the topic of digital humanities and their studies, the concept of big data and the transformation of digital archives in the context of digital humanities. The analytical part will focus on mapping the current situation of cultural heritage preservation in Europe. The last practical part will offer an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of digital infrastructures ARIADNE PLUS, CESSDA and DARIAH-EU both for the preservation of cultural heritage and for research in the social sciences and humanities.
