Optical properties of the GaN on sapphire
Skalský, Miroslav ; Janta, Jiří ; Čtyroký, Jiří ; Stejskal, J. ; Hüttel, I.
The method of mode spectroscopy was used to measure optical properties of epitaxial layers of gallium nitride (GaN) deposited onto the sapphire substrate. The results of the measurement of the layer thickness, refractive indices, and the attenuation of guided modes at the wavelengths of 632.8 nm and 781 nm are presented. From experimental values of attenuation of different guided modes, the contributions of bulk absorption and scattering at the interfaces of the layer to the total optical loss in the waveguide are determined.

Molecular factors of artherogenesis in chronic kidney disease with experimental model of chronic inhibition of Nitric Oxide Synthesis and its Effect of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitoin
Lecian, Dalibor ; Matouš, Bohuslav (advisor) ; Tesař, Vladimír (referee) ; Zadražil, Josef (referee)
The experimental part of the thesis covered the markers involved in nitric oxide deficiency model in rats. The analogue of arginine N-nitro- L -arginine-methyl ester ( L -NAME) was used. L -NAME administration resulted in sustained elevation of BP, decreased GFR, and in higher albuminuria compared to control animals. The administration of hypolipidemic drug - atorvastatin to Wistar rats was studied. The statin used caused lower albuminuria and prevented decreases in GFR in L -NAME rats without having an impact on hypertension. CAV1 protein expression was similar in all groups of rats. In contrast, VEGF expression and RhoA activity was increased in L -NAME-treated animals, and normalized with coadministration of atorvastatin. Clinical part of the thesis focused on the analysis of markers of oxidative stress in obese and non-obese patients with CKD and after kidney transplantation. The patients with CKD had elevated serum concentrations of AGEs, sRAGE and ADMA with the maximal concentrations of AGEs in the patients on hemodialysis. The successful kidney transplantation decreases the AGEs, sRAGE and ADMA concentrations but not to normal value according to general population. Patients with obesity exhibited lower concentrations of sRAGE in CKD as a protective factor for cardiovascular disease. Concentrations of...

Jirušová, Gabriela ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
The dynamic of choice biomechanics characterizations of the gait of pregnant women The aim of the study: The aim of this thesis is to detect, which way do change specifics of the gait of pregnant women during 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester of the pregnancy in consequence of biochemical and biomechanics changes occurring during the pregnancy, and to find prospective common trends of this alternations. Method: The thesis has a character of an experimental study. It is compiled as a casuistic study. Non-homogeneous group of 6 healthy pregnant women - volunteers took part in this study. It was performed a free-dimensional gait analysis on each subject using Qualisys system, that makes it possible to observe trajectories of markers placed on the body, and ground reaction forces in the stance phase of walking were taken using dynamometric plates Kistler. It was conducted at the end of the each trimester, it means at 14th, 26th and 38th week of the pregnancy. It was observed the width of supporting base, timing of the gait; it means time of separate phases of gait and ground reaction forces acting vertically and anteroposteriorly. It was so calculated impulses of these forces and velocity of the gait. Results: Ground reaction forces acting vertically and anteroposteriorly and impulses of these forces increase during...

Two-point discrimination in patients with chronic vertebrogenic disorders
Homolka, Pavel ; Kolář, Pavel (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
The graduation theses called "Discriminatory sensation of the patients suffering from chronic vertebrogenic complaints" disserts on experimental attestation of empirical evidences based on diagnostics and therapeutics of the patients suffering from chronic vertebrogenic complaints. There was experimental measurement based on a two - point discrimination method done with two groups of probands. In the first group of probands nobody suffered from the chronic back pain, eventually occipital joints. As far as the second group of probands concerns the structural changes were diagnosed in the axial skeleton area as well as changes of a functional character which caused long- term pain. The objective of the theses is to verify the validity of the empirical evidences, sum up a quality of the stereognostic functions (senses) of 20 individuals in chronic pain and 20 healthy individuals. The quality of the stereognostic functions (senses) was evaluated by measurement based on a two-point discrimination, on 8 spots of the human body, acrally and radikulary in dermatome C7 and L5. It is because roots of peripheral nerves are the most damaged nerves within upper and lower limbs in terms of vertebrogenic disorders. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Episodic memory for project IVE
Reidinger, Josef ; Poch, Tomáš (referee) ; Brom, Cyril (advisor)
Memory is an important part of each human and the progress of personality depends on its function. Everyday behavior also depends on it. So for artificial human it is also important for their authentic behavior. The aim of this work is to design, implement and test memory model for project IVE. The model has two separated parts. The first one is for perception of new objects and second is for already known objects. Model has an ability to move valid objects from the first part to second, remove invalid remebrance and remove overflowing objects. Removing of the overflowing objects uses calculating value of remembrance. This value depends on frequency sight, last sight, static value called interesting and count of same object's type in memory. Remembrance with lower value is removed. The final model is good in various enviroment and unsatisfactory when enviroment has a lot of same objects.

Soil changes after land use changes
Klíčová slova: Land use, historická geografie, zalesňování na orné půdě, pH, půdní organická hmota (SOM), barva, středočeský Pluton, dolní povodí Sázavy Abstract The thesis concerns with changes of soil features and characteristics on the areas of former arable land transformed to the forest area. The research took place in the region of central-Bohemian pluton in lower basin of the Sázava river. Time periods of 8, 15, 25-35, 50- 55, 106, 160 and 235 years since the abandonment of farming (agricultural activity) are explored. Furthermore, available sources for monitoring of landscape changes and their contribution are also...

Effect of flubendazole on activities of selected biotransformation enzymes in helminth parasite Haemonchus contortus
Babíková, Martina ; Lamka, Jiří (referee) ; Skálová, Lenka (advisor)
This diploma thesis treats of biotransformation enzymes issue in development of resistance of parasitic helminths on benzimidasole anthelmintics. The treatment of helminthic infections has become problematic because of frequent drug resistance of helminth parasites. The development of drug resistance can be facilitated by the action of xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes. Experimental model was represented by Haemochus contortus which is one of the most pathogenic parasites of domestic and wild ruminant species. Adults of H. contortus were isolated from infected sheep; these were treated by sub-therapeutic doses of anthelmintic flubendazole. And were also isolated from infected sheep but with no treatment applied. There were determined specific activities of selected biotransformation enzymes of the first and second phase in subcellular fractions of the hetminth homogenate. Comparing enzymatic activity values among examined groups of hetminths I was evaluating possible influence on enzymatic activities if there was flubendazole applied in the past.

The effect of antagonism of adrenergic receptors on spatial learning in laboratory rats.
Petrásek, Tomáš ; Stuchlík, Aleš (advisor) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee)
Spatial navigation is an important aspect of animal behavior, and is often regarded as a model of higher cognitive functions, e.g. declarative memory. It can be easily assessed by various behavioral tasks ("mazes"), and compared even across different species. Therefore, spatial tasks are especially suitable for evaluating potential psychoactive drugs in an animal model. This work deals mainly with noradrenergic neurotransmitter system and its influence on learning, memory and spatial behavior. The experimental part focuses on effects of subtype-specific noradrenergic antagonists prazosin, idazoxan and propranolol, and also a D2 dopaminergic antagonist, sulpiride, in Active Allothetic Place Avoidance (AAPA) task, a novel spatial task, well suited for measuring both cognitive and motor impairments. Rats with high doses of noradrenergic antagonists show combined impairment in both cognitive and motor aspect of the task. β-adrenergic antagonist propranolol also causes specific cognitive impairment in a lower dose of 25 mg/kg, but it fails to induce long-term memory impairment when given after experimental session. Co-application of alpha-1 adrenergic and D2 dopaminergic antagonists, prazosin and sulpiride, causes a severe motor and cognitive impairment, even at doses that do not influence animal behavior when...

In my diploma theses, I deal with links to the dramatic and musical elements based on improvisation and their influence on the development of a child's personality at the lower stage of primary school. In the first chapter of the theoretical part I deal with dramatic education, its definit ion, content, and its principles. In the second chapter, I am writ ing about a music, its objectives and activities (vocal, instrumental, musical-movement and listening). In the chapter called: "musical-drama" I deal with interconnection of the dramatic and musical elements through improvisation as a means of personality development. In the theoretical part I am writ ing about communication and I describe the period of a younger school-age child. The practical part focuses on experimental research of two younger school-aged groups with various musical focus. It consists of the characteristics of groups of children, description of the course of the experiment, analysis, comparison of work groups and the final evaluation. The subject of research was the link between elements of dramatic and musical education with the focus on improvisation in the after-school activities of younger school-aged children. The aim of the research was to determine how the musical and dramatic improvisation contribute to the development of a...
