Hrabová, Martina ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Švácha, Rostislav (referee) ; Murray, Irena (referee)
The impetus for this study was the question of whether the information, which has been handed down on Czech architects who worked with Le Corbusier is true or not. Working in the studio of one of the leading architects of the 20th century was a crucial formative experience for dozens of architects while also being an attractive entry in their résumés. The doctoral thesis Myth and Reality: The Czech Assistants of Le Corbusier 1924-1937 is based on vast research of primary sources abroad as well as in the Czech Republic. The thesis critically examines the information known in the literature until now. The study aims to look behind the curtain of the formation of the existing historiography of Czech architectural modernism. It proves that architects themselves often entered history by means of their self- promotion skills. Parts of the thesis consist of a verified and critical list of Czech assistants at Le Corbusier's studio in 35 rue de Sèvres in Paris, detailed analysis of how work was conducted in the studio and an analysis of related sources. The work presents 13 Czech architects who worked in the studio of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in the period between the two World Wars. The study follows individual forms of dialogue between young architects and Le Corbusier. In some cases, the research of...

Birth Trauma
Kovaříková, Zuzana ; Goldmann, Petr (advisor) ; Procházková, Jana (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to present the concern with the issue of birth trauma. Theoretical part deals with birth as a psycho-physiological process and a socio-cultural phenomenon. Practical part constitutes of interviews with women who experienced traumatising birth. The interview material is analysed by use of qualitative metodology and is presented as birth stories. Birth is a very sensitive time in both child's and mother's lives and plays a crucial role in forming their relationship. It can be the most beautiful experience in woman's life and, from the psychological point of view, a big source of energy, self- confidence and pride which positively influence the mother-child relationship. On the other hand, childbirth experience can turn into an extreme psychological distress resulting in feelings of guilt and one's inferiority and have long-term negative effects on the integrity of the mother-child relationship. The thesis presents a complex variety of circumstances and reasons which may result in birth trauma. It focuses on the influence of obstetric care and communication between medical staff and the birthing woman that often lead to birth trauma and place a great strain on the mother-child relationship. The present work also discusses ways of dealing with the problem. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The study of gamma-ray bursts detected by satellite RHESSI
Řípa, Jakub ; Mészáros, Attila (advisor) ; Karas, Vladimír (referee)
The beginning of the theoretical section of this diploma thesis is pointed to a discovery of the gamma-ray bursts. Then it is pointed to a brief historical summary of the different instruments dedicated to the GRB's field. Because the main aim of this work is the basic analysis and the classifying of the observed gamma-ray bursts by RHESSI solar satellite (which has observed more than 220 GRBs yet), a technical description of this instrument is introduced. It is followed by a part about gamma-ray production mechanisms. In this work there are also mentioned some related gamma-ray sources e.g. SGRs. The theoretical résumé is concluded by the description of the GRB's afterglows and some preferred models of their origins. In the proper study there was done the morphological classifying of the GRB's temporal profiles. Next there was studied the duration distribution with orientation to determine number of the subclasses using lognormal fits and the 2 test. Distribution of the radial distances of the gamma-ray sources can be examined by the log N vs. log P. dependence. The results are properly discussed and compared with the results of the BATSE instrument (including the V/Vmax test). In the final stage of this work, there is argued the dependence between the hardness ratios and the durations.

It poses questions and looks for answers to some of those questions in the specialist literature, or by deducing from personal experience.First, numerous influences that affect a person during his studies are presented, the importance of a person’s psychological profile, as well as his understanding of himself, and of the world around him. Later on, personal experience from professional carrier is described. I am disclosing character work in the DISK theatre and I am trying to find reasons for my feelings, both, good and bad, during the rehearsing processes, and the cause of my successes and failures. Acting, on stage as well as in front of the camera, is described from an unusual point of view, focusing greatly on details that are oftentimes overlooked. The new perspective from which I am trying to present acting and the life of an artist consists not only of the professional tools for mastering the craft - such as learning new parts, adopting the technical skills, etc. - but emphasizes humanity, underlines its importance, and searches for a threshold between professional and personal life of an actor.
