Interaction between TiAl melt and coated oxide refractories
Dočekalová, Kateřina ; Dlouhý, Antonín ; Zemčík, L. ; Fiala, J.
The present study focuses on reactions between ceramic crucibles and molten TiAl intermetallics. Coating strategies are investigated that exhibit a potential in slowing down the decomposition of the crucible wall. Uncoated crucibles (system TiAl melt - Al2O3 crucible) and crucibles with the coat (system TiAl melt - CaO coat - Al2O3 crucible) were used in melting and casting experiments. The reference state of the coated crucible before the melting trial was also investigated. Results of the SEM, EDAX and X-ray diffraction analysis contributed to the identification of the reaction zone and its chemical composition. The melt contamination with oxide inclusions results from the erosion process in which individual components of the melt diffuse along grain boundaries of the refractory and activate chemical reactions that decompose the crucible wall. Assessment of thermodynamic parameters associated with the chemical reactions helped in identifying the nature of the erosion process.

Changes in translations of Maupassant's Bel-Ami in 20th century
Tomíčková, Tereza ; Belisová, Šárka (advisor) ; Šotolová, Jovanka (referee)
The present thesis analyses and compares three Czech translations of Maupassant's Bel-Ami - that of Jindřich Hořejší (1919, 1933), Břetislav Štorm (1956, 1958, 1959, 1967, 1968, 1972) and Dana Melanová (1999, 2004). The introduction looks in brief at the writer's life and work and its reception in the Czech context. It subsequently analyses the novel both in terms of its themes and language, such an analysis being a prerequisite for evaluation of the individual translation solutions. The second, core part focuses on the translations themselves. It studies their various aspects and compares the approaches and strategies adopted by the translators. Every chapter is concluded by a summary of partial findings and conclusions, from which the overall approach of all the three translators is later deduced. The comparison of the translations opens with an analysis of sentence structures, the original being very concise, making translation of the book a difficult task. The next chapter covers Maupassant's poetic imagery in the translations, attention given particularly to the clarity and accuracy of images. The next chapter addresses the dialogue - another important part of the novel. The last chapter takes a perspective on how the translators approached culture-specific references. From today's perspective, J....

The aim of the thesis is to create a strategy for improving cooperation of family and school at realization the quality of the environmental education.

Synthesis and cytostatic activity of 3,5-disubstituted pentenolides analogous to gelastatin
Pavlík, Jan ; Pour, Milan (advisor) ; Starý, Ivo (referee) ; Dvořák, Dalimil (referee)
Within the framework of this thesis, a large series of 5-(acyloxymethyl)-3-aryl-5,6- dihydro-2H-pyran-2-ones was prepared and their cytostatic activity investigated. The key steps in the preparation of the compounds were alkylation of esters of substituted phenylacetic acids with 2-iodomethyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane, followed by cyclization to furnish a saturated lactone into which a double bond was introduced in the next step. Some of the target compounds displayed interesting cytostatic activity (IC50 < 10 µmol/L) against a panel of standard cell lines including both leukemic cells and those derived from solid tumours. The activity against colorectal carcinoma HT29 cell line, which is otherwise resistant against the standard combination of cytostatic agents used in the treatment of these tumours is especially remarkable. In the next part, the development of the synthesis of the 5-alkylidene analogues of these compounds, which are also analogous to bioactive natural products, such as the gelastatins and CR377, is described. Successful strategy is based on the use of 2-iodo allylic alcohols as the starting materials, which are converted into the target 3-substituted-5-alkylidene pentenolides via an array of Pd-catalyzed reactions, including Sonogashira coupling with methyl propiolate,...

From the novel to the screen: metamorphosis of the narrator in Stendhal's Le rouge et le noir and its adaptations
Chytilová, Vladimíra ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee)
This work focuses on the transformations to which is submitted the literary narrator when a literary work is adapted for the screen. The object of study is the novel Le Rouge et le Noir by Stendhal and its two adaptations, a film by Claude Autant-Lara from 1954 and a television miniseries made by Jean-Daniel Verhaeghe in 1997. The first part of the work summarizes the theoretical concepts of four authors who deal with the narrator: two of them, Tzvetan Todorov and Gérard Genette, are literary theorists, the other two, Seymour Chatman and David Bordwell, are counted among the best known film narratologists. This is followed by a general characterization of the narrator in Le Rouge et le Noir and of the narration in the two adaptations. The following three parts of the work study in more detail three topics connected with the main character Julien Sorel: hypocrisy, ambition and love. The way in which these themes appear in the novel is studied and compared to the different ways in which they are treated by the two adaptations due to their different narrative strategies. The conclusion summarizes the differences between the novel and both adaptations and speaks about the possibility of an adequate transposition of the literary narrator into film.

Microbiota of the digestive tract of bees and related insect and the influencing facftors
Hroncová, Zuzana ; Havlík, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kalous, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis consists of six research chapters, out of which, five have already been published in research journals, 1 is in the process of submission and the last chapter presents original unpublished confidential data in the process of manuscript preparation. The research presented in this thesis concerns the complex mechanisms of bees and wasps immune system focused on microbiota as component of immunity. As shown in the introduction, highly social and managed species of bees like honey bees and bumble bees, play key roles in natural and agricultural ecosystems worldwide. Recent losses of bees have been attributed to pesticide exposure, poor nutrition, increased parasite loads and habitat degradation. Over the past several years, governments, beekeepers, and the general public worldwide have become concerned by increased losses of honey bee colonies, calling for more research on how to keep colonies healthy. Our main aim was to explore the complex mechanisms of bees and related species gut bacterial populations, their links to insect immunity and investigate the opportunities for an intervention. Part of our aim was to characterise the bumble bee and wasp gut microbiota using 16S RNA sequencing in a search for potentially novel bacterial species. We have tried to explain how microbiome interacts with the host and showed that major members of these communities appear to benefit the host. The simple gut communities of social bees present ideal model systems to investigate the underlying evolutionary and genetic processes of such interactions. Information based on our results may help in the design of proper probiotic supplementation strategies with respect to physiological conditions in the honey bee gut.

Takeover of through insolvency proceedings (SAZKA, a.s.)
Nedvědová, Nikola ; Schönfeld, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Smrčka, Luboš (referee)
This thesis deals with takeovers in the Czech environment according to the Insolvency Act No. 182/2006 Coll., which passed an amendment to the 1. 1. 2008. There are methods of resolving insolvency of the debtor and principles of insolvency proceedings which should be followed during the insolvency process. Work distinguishes friendly and hostile takeover. The theoretical part provides an overview of possible ways of takeover, the reasons that motivate new owners to think about a possible takeover and globally applicable defense strategies. Another theoretical starting point is consideration of the reorganization of the company, which may be conducted by both the debtor and of the creditor(s). The practical part describes the hostile takeover of SAZKA from its history, through description of the key moments of crisis to insolvency proceedings which resulted in the bankruptcy of the debtor. Subsequent hostile takeover was directed by PPF and KKCG, which bought up commitment wagers and therefore became important creditors (controlling the betting and lottery activities) and later winner of the tender for the sale of the entire company. This case is a textbook example of takeover of the company, which had fallen into financial distress. The battle for the largest lottery company in the country was very hard, long and eventually resulted in a very profitable business, which fell into the arms of a single owner.

Business plan - new product market penetration
Sklenář, Tereza ; Hlavenka, Bohumil (referee) ; Koleňák, Jiří (advisor)
This marketing thesis focuses on the elaboration of a business plan for market penetration of a new product. This novel product will be a newly designed mobility aid addressed for people with limitated ability of movement of their legs. It would lift their legs from the vertical to the horizontal position and back without any effort being exerted by the user. Such a device is currently not available on the Czech market. This project contains both a theoretical background which is instrumental for better orientation in this area and also an analysis of the inner and the outer backgrounds behind a business plan for the market penetration of this new product. This thesis also contains a review of today’s products in the general area, measures taken before the commencement of potential sale, a distribution plan, promotion strategy, economical evaluation and a plan for the lead-in of the produkt onto the market.
