Matys, Marián ; Bouzek, Jan (advisor) ; Bažant, Jan (referee)
The subject of this paper is the study of history of the Kačina Chateau from the point of view of its inspiration from the art and architecture of the ancient world. The introductory chapters were dedicated to the general atmosphere of the time in which the castle was designed and built, the general ideas of the Enlightenment, and also to its relations to Count Chotek. There is an unresolved problem whether its relations to Classical antiquity monuments existed directly, or if they were mediated by other sources. While working on the theme it turned out that the foundation of Kačina Chateau derived from earlier models that were developed during centuries. The work of Marcus Vitruvius Pollio was of substantial importance for all Classicist architecture and especially the architects of the Renaissance knew it very well and used it frequently. For the architecture of Kačina Chateau the most important stimuli were those of Andreas Palladio who transformed earlier patterns according to his own artistic views. One of the following chapters concentrates on the personality of the owner of the estate, the Count Jan Rudolf Chotek, and then on the architects and builders of the castle. Following chapters are dedicated to the description of the castle, of its exterior, the segmentation of its interior...

Kolář, Vojtěch ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)

In the first place it analyzes the current academic discussion on this subject and confronts different opinions of both supporters and objectors of the idea, that video games can be a full-fledged art form. The second point of this paper is to analyze the properties, that are inherent to video games, in order to find the reason, why cultural elite considers video games as inferior in relation to traditional forms of art. Kubíček, Matěj ; Paulíček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Prýmková, Karolína (referee)
Matěj Kubíček: The Meaning of Success in the World of Czech Professional Drummers Abstract In this thesis, the author deals with the term "success", aiming to uncover ways in which Czech professional pop music drummers understand it. He also investigates problems connected with it, such as the attributes required to reach the status of a professional drummer, or the link between art, commerce, and skills. His approach consists of comparing relevant literature, which is introduced in the first part of the thesis, with information stemming from research. This research was made in a qualitative method, where the author made interviews with eight professional Czech drummers. The main themes contained in the investigation of the word success are the actual typology of the term, teaching and pedagogy, family life, and the relationship between art and commerce. As far as a professional drummer's attributes are concerned, three most important terms are identified: Diligence, talent, and humbleness.
The body and landscape
Vlček, Martin ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Vaculíková, Michaela (referee)
The Body as a subject and object is the way and possibility how to be in a landscape which does not tell how to touch it, how to move within it, live and die. However, we could find and see which particular behaviour is preferred to others. The landscape is a vertically and horizontally widespread area and a platform for potential range of body activities. Thirdly it is also a material, body, changing in time. We would focus on the moment when the body is trying to fuse into the landscape. So similar, so different, they are. The way how to achieve it for a human body would be a task to live it through, personally, as first shown as Symbiosis, on some examples from visual arts (performance, and site-specific usage of the place potential). In the Second part we would consider understanding the landscape (world) through the narratives with metamorphoses, when both entities are carnal and the same (Synonymical: body as a landscape, landscape as a body). The last Part (Synthesis) concentrates on the arts, rituals, philosophy and other modes of the "life view" in the context of crossing borders and immersion of real and the "different" (in a way virtual) world. Keywords: Body, landscape, arts, mythology, philosophy
