The first Přemyslids in didactic applications

(English) The theme of this thesis is to present the time and life of the first Premyslids and to create didactic material for teaching. The didactic material is designed, created and dedicated to teachers of history and history and all students. The work is divided into two parts. The first part, entitled The First Premyslids and their time, is theoretical and deals with the first Premyslids and their time. The first rulers of the Přemyslid family and their relatives are described in detail. The times in which they lived and ruled are described, as well as various aspects of everyday life at the time. The second, practical part, called History at Play, is devoted to didactics and practical activities that will be used in teaching 4th and 7th grade primary school. The research and devising of didactic applications included, in addition to studying the literature, comparing textbook texts, attending listening sessions, consulting with colleagues and carrying out teaching practice. This process included the creation of the author's teaching cards as well as games and their practical testing during the author's teaching practice. St. Wenceslas's millenium through the optics of periodical press

This bachelor thesis focuses on St. Wenceslas's millennium, which means to put in remembrance religious, cultural and political meaning of St. Wenceslas. The most intensive celebrations took place in the last September decade of 1929. The pivotal theme of the work is a response to the main celebrations in the Czech daily press. There is not of course forgotten St. Wenceslas's tradition development, millennium preparations or other events linked to St. Wenceslas's anniversary. These problematics were processed just partially in minor literature and that is why the author wants to make use of it in her analysis of historic sources. So she concentrates on historic press. Although the publications, which originated in connection with the millennium, or the ones that address St. Wenceslas do not escape her attention, too.
St. Wenceslas Church in Žamberk

Diploma thesis "St. Wenceslas Church in Žamberk" discusses the church monographically. Initially, it briefly introduces the city, its origin, estate owners and then chronologically from art-historical terms the most important foundations of building Bubnů of Litic. Afterwards we focus our attention on the church, its history and construction, parish building, description, and especially the valuable furniture. In this part the thesis deals with baroque altars and particularly the main altar canvas Assassination of St. Wenceslas by Francesco Trevisani. Attention is focused on the preliminary image, possible models and analogies with the older author's creations. Later, in order for the work to be complete, the focus goes shortly to the painted decorations of the church. Subsequently, the cemetery chapel, its historical development, baroque altars and the painted decorations as well. Finally, work presents in context the church builder and painters who created high quality altar canvases.
Miracles of Czech Medieval Saints

The present work focuses on miracles of Czech saints in the period of the early Middle Ages. In the introductory part, the concepts of sanctity and miracles and their development throughout the history are elucidated. Criteria for selecting the saints included in the work are then discussed. The work is dominantly based on hagiographic resources, yet medieval chronicles and canonization acts are also included. The main part of the work is a catalogue of miracles attributed to Czech medieval saints, particularly St. Ludmila, St. Wenceslas, St. Adalbert, St. Procopius, St. Agnes, St. Guntherus and beatific Hroznata. For each saint, both the legendary and historical lives are briefly described and the resources used are discussed. The anthology of miracles is then presented, using critical editions of the legends. The miracles attributed to the particular saints are analyzed in the context of analogical miracles in previous periods or other saints. The role of miracles in medieval society is discussed as well.
Collegiate Chapter of St. Cosmas and Damian in Stará Boleslav

The dissertation "St Cosmas and St Damian collegiate chapter at Stará Boleslav" deals with the history of the oldest chapter of its kind in Bohemia. The gist of the thesis is introduced by a general essay on the institution of the chapter. The core part studies the development of the chapter at Stará Boleslav from its establishment by prince Břetislav up to the present. Special emphasis is laid on the period between the two world wars 1919-1938. This period is elaborated in detail on the basis of available sources and literature. The dissertation investigates the political and religious situation in the country, namely at Stará Boleslav, of that time, deals with personal issues at the chapter, and analyses its social conditions and pastoral activity. The personalities of four significant canons are introduced in conclusion.

Transformation of the st. Wenceslas symbol and cult in Czech press around the breaking points of the Czech 20th century history

The thesis deal with transformations of st. Wenceslas symbol and his cult in the Czech press around breaking points of Czech 20th century history. It asks about impact of contemporary policy and incidents on presentation of st. Wenceslas symbol, then about parts of st. Wenceslas cult and finally about connection of this symbol with other national symbols. The thesis is based on the assumtion that national identity is constructed through collective memory of members of the nation, appropriate symbology and history interpretation. Research uses qualitative metods (discourse analysis). Sample is made of Czech (mostly) statewide press articles that are related to st. Wenceslas and his cult, from the period around the st. Wenceslas day (28th September), in several years intervals around appointed breaking points (1918, 1938, 1939, 1945, 1948, 1968 and 1989). It has been found that 1. st. Wenceslas symbol represents unchanging connection of the church and the nation in the case of Catholic perspective, 2. in danger it mobilizes and symbolizes the statehood and the strength of the nation in case of the nationalistic use and 3. it can support legitimity of new established regime. The impact of the St. Wenceslas'cult in Brandýs nad Labem - Stará Boleslav to the tourism industry

The topic of the diploma thesis is the impact of the St. Wenceslas'cult to the tourism in Brandýs nad Labem -- Stará Boleslav. First part of the thesis consists of basic information about St. Wenceslas and the development of his cult in periods of the Czech history. Second part represents the survey of the Czech nation about St. Wenceslas. Last part of the thesis forms the analysis of the tourism industry in Brandýs nad Labem - Stará Boleslav and the impact of St. Wenceslas cult to the tourism of the town.
