TITLE: Readiness of foreign languages teachers to teach students with specific learning disabilities AUTHOR: Dagmar Andršová DEPARTMENT: Department of pedagogy SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Veronika Blažková, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: Aim of my baccalaureate work was to find my orientation in types of learning disabilities, their causes and effects on teaching of foreign languages. And then describe educational methods and adopting of knowledge and skills for students with learning disabilities. I also aimed on role and attitude of teachers in education of pupils with learning disabilities. Through questionnaire inquiry I was investigating readiness and forms of education by teachers of foreign languages in this problematics, with evaluation of collected data and final summarization of this problematics. Work should serve not only for academical purposes, but also for informing teachers of foreign languages and choosing of their future work in educational process of pupils with specific learning disabilities. Teaching English to Pupils with Dysorthography

TITLE: Teaching English to Pupils With Dysorthography AUTHOR: Bc. Monika Reslerová DEPARTMENT: Department of English Language and Literature SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Klára Uličná, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis relates the issue of dysorthography in connection to EFL instruction with a special attention paid to lower secondary schools. The theoretical part of the text contains basic information on special educational needs, followed by a chapter on Specific Learning Difficulties, their causes and symptoms. The concept of dysorthography is explained and its possible consequences on acquisition of English spelling and grammar described, followed by a list of recommended approaches, methods, techniques and aids which can be useful for teaching English to dysorthographic pupils. The practical part of the text gives an account of a multiple-case study which was carried out among experienced English teachers at schools that pay special attention to children with SEN. The research is focused on the teachers' experience and know-how and compares the obtained data to the recommendations given in the theoretical part. Tales of double exceptionality - a qualitative study of gifted students with learning disabilities

At present, there is a growing interest in the theme of giftedness and gifted students. However, newer and less familiar theme is the theme of gifted children and students with disabilities called "double exceptionality". The theoretical part focuses on describing the theme of giftedness, some theories and models of giftedness, highly specific field and problems of gifted children and students with learning disabilities, eventually with other handicaps too. In the empirical part of this thesis the aim is to present specific expressions, the link with development and influences of educational approach to children and students through casuistries. This data should be a practical replenishment of mapped psychological problems of gifted children and students with handicap that the theoretical part of the thesis deal with.
Reflecting the Needs of the Students with Specific Learning Disabilities in TEFL

The specific learning disabilities with the primary focus on dyslexia as one of the special educational need are characterised in the thesis. The theoretical part provides thorough clarification of the individual disabilities as well as the enumeration and explanation of the re- educational approaches towards the specific learning difficulties aimed at the process of teaching English as a foreign language. The qualitative research conducted on the second stage of the basic school constitutes the empirical part of the thesis. The major aim of tracing the needs of the learners with dyslexia was achieved by combining the results of the analysis of the textbooks and the self-created worksheets, observations from the lessons and the interviews with the participants. The main research question, discussing the degree of appropriateness and suitability of the created material in opposition to the regularly used textbooks, was answered in favour of the designed worksheets. Moreover, the thesis provides well-structured and comprehensive summary of the recommendations to enhance the learning process of the learners with dyslexia. Methodological Specifics of Beginner Piano Teaching of Students of Different Ages

The thesis is concerned with methodological specifics of beginner piano teaching of students at different age levels. It attempts to give a complex view of its various aspects. The thesis is subdivided into several chapters, drawing on available psychological and methodological literature, piano course books and a questionnaire survey. The first chapter focuses on a beginner piano learner as an individual undergoing a particular stage of psychological development. It explores learners' general as well as music- specific characteristics and links these characteristics to piano playing. In addition, it describes motivational tendencies prevailing at different development stages, and other factors which can substantially influence the learning process, but have not hitherto been discussed with respect to piano teaching in greater detail although a pedagogue can more easily deal with potential problems that may arise at beginner levels when thoroughly informed. The topic of this work is literature teaching focused on students with learning disabilities at secondary school. The first part describes wide variety of learning disabilities and disorders. Also concerns creation of IEP-Individualized Education Program for students who receive special education and related services. The main objectives in literature teaching are demarcated as well as learning strategies' taxonomy. The subsequent part presents worksheets especially developed for 6th grade pupils with IEP but not only for them. This offers the easier way to reach the study aims and tries to motivate students to pursue further studies in the field of literature. Each worksheet is followed by further explanation as an inspiration for other literature teachers.
Students of teaching with learning disabilities

in English The thesis focuses on trainee teachers with specific learning disabilities. Its aim is to map their university study and teaching practice. The research part is supplemented with a short survey showing public opinion on teachers with learning disabilities. The thesis is based on empirical research of qualitative nature with quantitative information. Data were obtained from semi structured interviews with students of teaching with specific learning disabilities and from the questionnaire conducted which the public. Another analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and an interpretation of the data followed. All the findings were then compared with the data fixed in literature. The written work consists of three major parts. The theoretical part is predominantly based on abroad scientific sources of information about people with dyslexia studying at a university and employed. The second part of the thesis describes the methodology of the research and the analysis of the data. The two most important results of the research are represented by a number of features which describe a trainee teacher with specific learning disabilities, and the public opinion on such a person. Development of musicality in children with specific learning disabilities

Diploma thesis "Development of musicality in children with specific learning disabilities" will be focused on children in elementary school age with diagnosis specific learning disabilities. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretic part includes information about specific leasing disabilities and about basic musical term. Also, there is a chapter about the psychomotor development. The practical part involves information about three children with specific leasing disabilities, be specific two boys and one girl at the similar age.This work will be find out level of musical skills in children with specific learning disabilities and compare their level of musical skills with intact children In second part of this thesis will be particular suggestions and procedure how to develop musicality in children with specific learning disabilities.
