Kovářová, Pavla ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Shavit, Anna (referee)
This thesis deals with the development of the media image of Miloš Zeman in the two terms in which he held the most significant political functions, namely the prime minister and the president. The aim is to find out whether the media image of Miloš Zeman at a time when he served as prime minister differs from the current media image that he now has as president. The theoretical part is defined by the role of the media in society and politics. Furthermore, the approaches of objectivity in media are described and finally the basic theories that are applied in the construction of the media image are presented. The methodological part of the research covers the method of quantitative content analysis and how this research was conducted. The necessary data was obtained through the Anopress database, selecting relevant articles of the two national newspapers (Mladá fronta Dnes, Právo) and the two most-watched national television networks (Nova, Česká televize). The conclusion of this thesis is analytical and presents the results.

Miloš Zeman Prime Minister and the President: continuity or change in opinion?
Hnízdil, Ivo ; Švec, Kamil (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse opinions of Milos Zeman as the prime minister and as the president in similar political situations in three circuits, while selected issues closely touched the offices of the Prime Minister, or the President. Comparing these standpoints this paper concludes that Milos Zeman is not very consistent in his opinions. It seems that a change of his views is motivated by the current political profit and maximizing influence of the held constitutional post. Theoretical part of this paper characterizes the political system of the Czech Republic with emphasis on the necessary cooperation of concerned branches of state power. This allows readers the insight and the inclusion of individual standpoints of Milos Zeman to the realities of the practical functioning of the system. On this theoretical basis clearly stands out Milos Zeman's motivation to change viewpoint or stay in the former one.

Vladimir Putin's path to power
Dryndak, Roksolana ; Svoboda, Karel (advisor) ; Litera, Bohuslav (referee)
Bachelor thesis Vladimir Putin's path to power focuses on analysis of the development of his career. I have chosen to approach it by case study method. It chronologically describes the development of Putin's career, dated from the moment he joined the KGB structure back in 1975 up till his victory in Russian Federation presidential elections in March 2000. Part of my thesis is an introduction of his political contribution in years 1996-2000. These years gained him more popularity and therefore he became massively influential throughout these 4 years. However, it mostly focuses on infra-political machinations of Boris Yeltsin and his people towards Putin. My thesis also sums up the basic facts and specifics of high Russian politics in this era, in order to make the whole issue more understandable. I managed to set and describe main breaking points of Putin's political career. His presence and Saint Petersburg City Administration is to be remembered at first place, as much as his time as a director of Federal Security Services. This thesis also declares Putin's chances to take over the presidential office after Boris Yeltsin.
