Mudruňková, Michaela ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Satrapová, Lenka (referee)
Title: Evaluation of the immediate influence of physical activity on the quality of postural functions of basketball players Author: Bc. Michaela Mudruňková Supervisor: PhDr. Tereza Nováková, PhD. Problem definition: Difficulties in the evaluation of the quality of postural functions and in the establishment of a so-called ideal posture stem from the diversity of views of different authors. Posture is definitely not the same as standing, but unfortunately many of the tests for postural functions evaluation focus only on that. Postural stability can be measured using device methods as well, but these devices are not available everywhere. Therefore, I have tried to create my own set of tests, which would best meet all requirements: simplicity, speed, availability and complexity of testing and evaluation of the quality of postural functions. Physical activity is followed by fatigue of the organism (decreased muscle strength, impaired movement coordination, ...). In my thesis I try to explain how fatigue manifests itself on the quality of postural functions and how to best assess the quality of postural functions using simple tests. The aim: The aims of this thesis are to develop an appropriate set of tests for evaluation of the quality of postural functions and to investigate the effects of different...
Relatioship of somatic and motor variables to the postural stability in children
Černá, Lenka ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Havel, Zdeněk (referee) ; Suchomel, Aleš (referee)
Subject In professional literature progressive development of postural stability related to the age during the childhood is documented which is characterized by decline of amplitude and speed deviations. The postural stability becomes similar to adults by primary school children, specifically in the age of 7 to 10 (Shumway-Cook, Woollacott, 2001) and children switch to more accurate strategy of postural control. The period of primary school is described as positive for motor development. Performance in this period is most considerably influenced by biogenetic factors which include growth factors as for instance body height, weight and body composition. An appropriate movement routine with an adequate amount and quality of movement activity is important for development of children's organism by primary school children. Objective The aim of this work is to describe the changes of chosen parameters of postural stability which are related to the age and gender of primary school children and to submit to analysis the changes in chosen parameters of postural stability in connection with somatic characteristics, movement abilities and movement activity. Methods The summarizing statistical research took place at a primary school where 154 children (85 boys, 69 girls) in the age of 7 to 11 were tested....
The influence of rehabilitation by electrotactile stimulation through the tongue on stability of stance and gait in patients with degenerative cerebellar ataxia
Kodríková, Kateřina ; Čakrt, Ondřej (advisor) ; Vyhnálek, Martin (referee)
INTRODUCTION This graduation theses considers with the influence of rehabilitation by electrotactile stimulation of the tongue on stability of stance and gait in patients with degenerative cerebellar ataxia. Electrotactile stimulation of the tongue is an innovative method based on biofeedback principle, which uses additive sensory information about the position of the head to train the postural stability METHOD We used this method in six patients (four men and two women) with this disease. Patients went through intensive twelve-day therapy. The duration of the lessons was 30 minutes twice a day. We examined postural stability of the patients by using clinical evaluations (Balance Evaluation Systems Test, Dynamic Gait Index), posturography (modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction for Balance) and questionnaires (Activities -specific Balance Confidence, Dizziness Handicap Inventory) before and after the therapy. RESULTS The patients showed significant improvement in both clinical tests after the therapy. The results of posturography measurement are not so definite - the significant improvement was achieved only in some measured parameters. Both questionnaires did not show significant improvement. CONCLUSION The results of this study show, that electrotactile stimulation tongue could have a...
Changes of posturality after operation according Nuss
Počtová, Barbora ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
Background: Pectus excavatum is the most common deformation of the chest, affecting mainly boys. The etiology is unclear. Objective: The aim of this study is to characterize the patients with pectus excavatum and clarify changes of posture after surgical correction by Nuss. Method: 19 patients (17.3 ± 1.9 years) with pectus excavatum chest deformity were tested a day before and 6 months after surgical correction of the chest according to Nuss. Testing included: clinical examination of range of motion in the shoulder and hip joint, range of motion of the spine Thomayer test, Shober and Stibor distances, as well as paraclinic test mCTSIB on Balance Master ® System and the questionnaire method by means of Pectus Excavatum Evaluation Questionnaire. Statistical significance was determined at 0.05. Results and Discussion: The results show that the correction of the chest has a significant influence on the evaluation of and satisfaction with appearance, increases range of motion of shoulder joints and spine, and positively affects postural stability and balance. Conclusion: A simple and non-invasive tests have shown that the effect of correction of the chest is not just a cosmetic nature and can be an incentive to continue to study this issue.
Influence of whole body vibration training on postural stability in selected sporting population
Strachotová, Hana ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
Title: Influence of whole body vibration training on postural stability in selected sporting population Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare the influence of whole body vibration training on the stability of the human body and assessing the possibility of using this training method to improve postural stability in selected sporting population. Methods: 15 mainly beach volleyball players (athletes) were randomly assigned into two groups. Experimental group (n 8) in addition to their own training practiced twice a week on the Power Plate, while the control group (n 7) to continue the current practice of beach volleyball. The experimental group participated in a total of twelve units during the six-week exercise intervention. We reviewed the standard deviation and average values of COP displacements in the anteroposterior, mediolateral and overall direction of the COP path. For this purpose, we used pressure platform Footscan. Results: The results indicate a clear trend to improve postural stability at the beach volleyball player after a six-week intervention, whole body vibration training. Improvement was most noticeable in tests Flamengo (standing on one leg), in which the total COP path decreased for all probands at the right lower extremity and in six of the eight probands in the left...
Assessing the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability
Zadražilová, Tereza ; Smékal, David (advisor) ; Čakrt, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis "Judging the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability" focuses on the problem of constitutional hypermobility (CH) and the influence of joint instability on stability mechanisms. The aim of the research was to find out whether there is a difference in stability mechanisms with tested subjects with CH and without it. Furthermore, the research focuses on the influence of mobility techniques on postural stability by the means of chosen tests carried out on Balance Master® System platform. The tested sample includes 14 women aged from 20 to 28, 7 women with constitutional hypermobility and 7 women as a control group. 6 tests were chosen for the measurement on Balance Master® platform. 2 static tests: modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction on Balance (mCTSIB), Unilateral Stance (US), and 4 dynamic tests: Limits of Stability (LOS), Rhytmic weight shift (RWS), Step Up Over (SUO) a Forward Lunge (FL). We compared the medians of output values of individual tests. It was assumed that subjects with KH would have significantly worse test results than the control group. Furthermore, it was supposed that the mobilization processes cause stability disturbance on the basis of cancellation of compensational , thus protective block in comparison with KS. Mynařík, Ondřej ; Žalud, Luděk (referee) ; Chromý, Adam (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate sensors used in Android mobile phones for measuring inclination and their comparation with precise reference sensor Xsens. Another goal is to create Android application for measuring inclination of balance desk. This application communicates with a computer by Bluetooth. Results indicates that sensors in mobile phones are sufficient enough to replace the precise sensor Xsens for measuring inclination of balance desk. Based on the results mobile application was created. Using a mobile phone with this application can replace Xsens, which results in rapid decrease of the price and the possible use in rehabilitation centers or by patients.
Access physiotherapy in disorders of postural stability in patients with multiple sclerosis
KRÁLOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis summarizes the current knowledge of multiple sclerosis. The object of my thesis was to choose the appropriate physiotherapy procedures to influence postural stability in patients with multiple sclerosis. In the theoretical part of it I have dealt with the current situation of the problem, then with ethiopathogenesis, symptoms, pharmacological and rehabilitative treatment. Then I dealt with the functions of the deep stabilization system and methods which can be used to work with. These methods were chosen with regard to the diagnosis MS. The research section includes casuistry of three patients. The kinesiology examination is supplemented by testing in posturograph which patients undertaken at the beginning of the three-month therapy and after its completion. This section contains actual status of the patients, their medical history, designs short-term rehabilitation plan, a description of rehabilitation and long-term rehabilitation plan and overall assessment of therapy and research. The whole research took place over a period of three months. Two patients attending for treatment in a rehabilitation clinic in J.Hradci, therapy third patient was at home through briefing. After three months of therapy, I evaluated the effectiveness of exercise based on the input and output tests, balance tests and examinations on posturograph. I also took into account the patients' subjective feelings. Physiotherapy had an impact primarily on the breathing stereotype and better postural stability when standing. Furthermore, the psychological state of patients also improved. Physiotherapy may interfere with some clinical symptoms of MS. It helps to improve the quality of life, improve self-sufficiency and engage individuals in active life. However, we have to expect short-term effect and that it is necessary to rehabilitate all the time. Also, we must continue to adapt to the development of the disease and the current condition of the patient.
