Different prevalence of substance abuse at different types of music events: comparison of drum and bass party and rock concert in Prague
Blížilová, Lucie ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Rolová, Gabriela (referee)
The objective of my bachelor's paper is to determine, through the use of a terrain study, if visitors of drum and bass parties prefer addictive substances more than visitors of rock concerts. I conducted a terrain study in Prague and the assumption was that the type and quantity of addictive substances would vary. The theoretic section of my work is focused on characteristics of individual music genres and their supporters, further mentioned are addictive substances used at music events and their subsequent risks and impact on the person taking them and the environment around them. The conclusion of the theoretical section is about harm reduction services, hints at their usefulness, and also on the lack thereof in the music genre environment. The practical section is dedicated to the analysis of data gathered by me in a terrain study conducted directly on music events of a given genre. Respondents were given a short questionnaire and then all data was analyzed by me. Respondents were chosen deliberately, they had to have been a supporter of the given genre, therefore I worked with an unrepresentative sample. The comparison of the data confirmed my assumption that the amount and type of substances used do indeed vary. The drum and bass party is dominated by illegal substances, whereas the rock...

Ladka, Marcel ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis "Prohibition of the Socialist Reich Party in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1952" is delas with the right-wing extremist and the fist neo-nazi political party in Bonn Republic, which existed between 1949 and 1952. This work compares SRP with NSDAP, to which SRP awoved itself and became considered as its successor organization. The author of this bachelor thesis describes the origin, ideology and leaders of SRP, which confirms the theory that the SRP is actually the successor organization to the banned NSDAP. The introduction outlines mechanisms to legally ban political parties. In the next part of the thesis the author describes the struggle of the federal government against the party after the election successes in the federal states of Lower Saxony and Bremen. In 1951 a federal government proposal was field to ban the SRP to the Federal Constitutional Court. The conclusion is being analyzed by a judgment of the German constitutional court, which marked the SRP as a party threatening the existing constitutional order and the banning of the SRP and the fate of party members after the abolition of the SRP.

Sorting of candidates: evidence from 20,000 electoral ballots
Svitáková, Klára ; Šoltés, Michal
Using over 20,000 electoral ballots from proportional representation elections, we document that political parties systematically sort candidates on the ballots according to their valence and intra party value. Valence, measured by education level, captures the public value of the candidates, while intra party value, measured by political donations and membership, represents the value of the candidate to the party. The patterns we observe are consistent with market mechanisms between candidates and party leaders where the party leaders benefit from the valence and intra party value of candidates and offer ballot positions (i.e. the probability of winning a seat) in exchange. We show that candidates with high valence and those who possess more intra party value are placed in higher level positions, despite the fact that candidates with more intra party value tend to receive relatively fewer votes than their counterparts with the same characteristics in the same position on the ballot. We also show that as a party expects to hold more council seats and thus has more bargaining power over candidates, the share of their candidates with higher intra party value increases. Overall, we provide strong evidence that political parties skew political representation based on a quid pro quo relationship with the candidates.
Use of the Czech Press Agency for the purpose of propaganda
Jeřábek, Jan Lucián ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Trunečková, Ludmila (referee)
Diploma thesis Use of the Czech News Agency for the purpose of propaganda analyses the relationship between the Czech News Agency, state and its executive in seven time periods from the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918 to its dissolution in 1993, when it got replaced by two separate states - The Czech Republic and The Slovak Republic. The aim of the thesis is to delimitate the status and mission of the Czech News Agency in relation to the state and its executive, considering the legislation, in each of the seven chosen periods by conducting a qualitative content analysis of particular news issued by the Czech News Agency. With the use of the delimitation of the status and mission of the Czech News Agency in relation to the state, and the subsequent qualitative content analysis of the news, I demonstrate how this relationship was reflecting on the news content. For this purpose I use the critical discourse analysis in light of the discourse-historical approach. Besides the analysis of seventy news stories from newspapers, this thesis also includes a comparison of the two analysed periods of Prague spring and perestrojka at the end of the 80s. The comparison focuses on differences or similarities of the way in which the Czech News Agency was used for the purpose of propaganda by the state and its...
Use of the Czech Press Agency for the purpose of propaganda
Jeřábek, Jan Lucián ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Trunečková, Ludmila (referee)
Diploma thesis ,,Use of the Czech press agency for the purpose of propaganda" analyses the relationship between the Czech press agency, state and its executive in seven time periods from 1918 - 1993. Theoretical aim of this work is to delimitate the status and mission of the Czech press agency in relation to the state and its executive in each of the seven chosen periods, based on the official legislation. Practical part focuses on an analysis of ten randomly chosen news stories concerning government's activities from three different journals in each of the seven periods. Each analysed story contains one of the keywords government, party, minister or state. Each story is also produced by the Czechoslovak/Czech press agency. Main target of this work is to delimitate clearly the relationship between the Czech press agency and the state, then subsequently demonstrate, using qualitative analysis, how was this relationship reflected in the content of agency's news. For example, how was the communication between the Czech press agency and the state changing and how was the communication between the state and the public through the Czech press agency changing in each of the analysed periods. This work contains a comparison of two chosen analysed periods (prague spring and perestrojka). It compares...
Development of party STAROSTOVÉ A NEZÁVISLÍ - from the local organization to the parliamentary party
Pergl, Tomáš ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
The Mayors and Independents Movement (STAN) is in many aspects of the Czech party system a specific political entity to which has been paid insufficient attention in the academic sphere so far. Therefore, this diploma thesis comprehensively presents the origin and development of the Mayors and Independents movement in a descriptive form of a case study. Partial research questions aim to assess the degree of institutionalization of the STAN movement from the point of view of the theories of the authors Angel Panebianc or Vicky Randall and Lars Svåsand as well as the placement among the classical typologies of political parties from the point of view of internal party organization. The first part is analytical research focused on internal party processes, organizational settings, mutual relations between stakeholders, membership status and analysis of the structure of the STAN movement. The second part is devoted to the ideological and programmatic definition of the STAN movement, within which, in addition to program documents and attitudes of leading actors, the self-profile of the membership base from the data of the questionnaire survey is examined. Last but not least, the work also deals with relations with other political entities in terms of coalition potential for the formation of...
