Analysis of financial literacy of the elderly in the Karlovy Vary region

The bachelor thesis is studying the financial literacy and financial education of eldery adults. The thesis is devided into four chapters. In the first chapter we follow up with the elderhood and aging, current demografic situation in the Czech Republic and it's possible progress in the future. This chapter is also focused on the changes brought by elderhood and social and economic consequences of aging. The second chapter is dedicated to education of older adults, to it's specificities and to selected institutions that provide education to older adults. The third chapter is devoted to the financial literacy. It contains, besides the definition and demarcation of financial literacy, also documents at the international and national level, which deal with those issues and research which dealt with the financial literacy of citizens of the Czech Republic. Furthermore it describes the problems of financial literacy amongst eldery citizens and projects that are dedicated to its support specifically for this group of citizens. Financial education at the secondary school

The main goal of this diploma work is to create a concept of one-year two-hour seminars teaching financial literacy at high school. Its content is in accordance with the standards of financial literacy that were defined in the document " The system of establishment of financial literacy at primary and secondary schools ", and which have been implemented in the RVP of high school and secondary vocational education in 2009. In particular, constructivist approach is being applied in the teaching to whose implementation using appropriately chosen teaching methods that are designated in the methodological recommendations of Pedagogical Research Institute. Following teaching materials are drawn up for each thematic unit seminar (household management, prices and money, financial markets, interest and interest calculation, financial products, financial planning and consumer protection): the recommended sequence of intermediate tutorial, theme, tutorial, tutorial presentations, pupil outputs, input and output test. The other goal of this diploma work is a small research through a questionnaire with closed issues, whose main aim was to map out the teaching of financial literacy at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Petr Dostál, Ph.D., Department of Probability and Mathema- tical Statistics Abstract: In the text of this thesis we deal with the classification of stochastic games, which is closely related to investing in various financial instruments. With the help of utility functions, we are looking for the optimal and relatively safe bet on a mathematically convenient game. It will be demonstrated, why it does not pay off to take part in fair games and games of chance in the long run, as well as how such games relate to moral hazard. The thesis is written in a way that should make it accessible to the wide public, therefore there are numerous examples and interpretations in order to facilitate the understanding of the mathematical theory. Some parts can also be used by teachers as a direct source for teaching financial literacy in primary and secondary schools. Competition and its manifestations in the market of ČR

The purpose of this thesis is to give an overview of the definitions of compe- tition in literature and an assessment of competition in the Internet market in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is based on literature of domestic and global origins. This part is specializing not only in the understanding of competition in individual scholarly works but also in its influence on the market mechanism, and its typology. An important constituent of this work is the analy- sis of unfair commercial practice as defined in terms of the Consumer Protection Act. The practical part deals with the specific manifestation of price and non- price competition within the Czech Internet market. Research was performed on six selected web portals selling electronics. Quantitative data obtained within this research are shown in tables forming part of the text.
Financial literacy as a tool for reducing the debt overburden of the Czech households

In current time we experience deeper and deeper indebtedness of Czech households and their deterioration into insolvency on one side, on the other side among Czech population was identified a very low rate of financial literacy in the last few years. As a result of these two findings a hypothesis was created that behind the high indebtedness stands the low financial literacy of population and that it is possible to fight indebtedness by increasing financial literacy. The thesis main target is to analyze approach of Czech Republic to financial literacy, particularly as to a tool of prevention of indebtedness of households. Simultaneously its target is to reveal relation between financial literacy and indebtedness. According to these reasons the thesis is based on several theoretical outcomes - the theory of prevention of risky behavior, the theory of financial education as a prevention from hazard and from the theory of implementation as a part of public policy cycle. Examined problem is defined using analysis of indebtedness of Czech households, determines the occasions and results of this risky behavior; and through delimitation issue of financial literacy. Consumer education in primary schools

This work is aimed at finding resources which are used for consumer education of pupils in primary school. Financial education is one of the most important elements in the field of consumer protection. Financial education leads to strengthening financial literacy of the consumer and the consumer becomes a subject of financial market who knows his duties and consumer rights. The practical part is focused on consumer education and financial literacy in primary schools in the South Bohemian Region. It also determines whether financial literacy is taught in primary schools in the South Bohemian Region, what materials there are for this subject or how the teachers are trained for this form of education. The data for the practical part were obtained via questionnaires. One questionnaire is focused on finding lessons of financial literacy and circulated by e-mails. The second questionnaire is focused on financial literacy of students and is dealt personally. Based on the research it was qualified and recommended to establish a financial club and a day of finance.

Financial literacy Financial illiteracy among the population is a painful problem, probably in every country in the world, including Czech Republic. The first part of this work intends to define financial literacy as a subject of andragogy. The next parts are concerned with various researches regarding financial literacy, mostly from the United States and from the Czech Republic. Then, many projects, that shall improve financial literacy among Czech population, are going to be observed and compared. We will see how the main three sectors (the state, commercial subjects and the NGO's) are cooperating in order to achieve the common goals in spreading the financial literacy. The last part of this work is about dividing the population into various groups on the basis of their financial literacy level.

Main topic of the diploma thesis is financial literacy, more specifically the risk of its consequences. First part of the thesis deals with definition of financial literacy, its causes and consequences. Next chapters are devoted to monetary literacy, ignorance of which causes many problems in the area of credits, loans and subsequently may lead to indebtedness. This part of the text defines important key words, whose knowledge in essential for using of banking services and products Last chapters of the theoretical part introduce the Consumer Protection Act and the issues of seizures and insolvency. Main objective of the practical part of the thesis is to carry out a research among university students in order to summarize the level of their awareness, knowledge and experience in the financial area.
The development of financial literacy of the youth leaving children's home

This thesis is focused on education of financial literacy of children living in children's homes. It is based on current state of education politics in the fields of financial literacy, the contents of educational programmes and qualitative research of real current state of education of financial literacy in children's homes. The research itself will be made via structured interviews with children from children's homes. The research is focused on discovering the level of financial literacy of older children (15 - 18 years old) permanently living in children's homes, searching for possibilities of improvement of education of financial literacy in children's homes and therefore increasing prevention of social exclusion of young people leaving children's homes due to over-owing which is usually caused by low level of financial literacy.
