Quality of life in adults with severe from of the autism spectrum disorder - regional comparison

The present text is focused on analysing the quality of life of adults with severe forms of autism spectrum disorders in important aspects of their lives. We devote 3 chapters to awareness of autism spectrum disorders, descriptions and analysis of important aspects in the lives of persons with severe forms of autism spectrum disorders, as well as the analysis of the self-perceived quality of life of these persons and their parents or direct care takers. The results of the analysis offer answers to the questions, where the essential aspects of the lives of adults with severe autism spectrum disorders are diminished or at risk.
Facilitators and barriers associated with physical activity for people with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of carers

Title: Facilitators and barriers associated with the performance of physical activities by individuals with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of caregivers. Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis was to identify which barriers and facilitators appear when performing physical activity by individuals with intellectual disabilities from the point of view of caregivers. The results of the survey were intended to outline the above and specify the extent to which they are considered barriers or facilitators, thus providing insight into the problem of finding solutions that would result in minimal barriers for caregivers. Methods: Data for mixed empirical research were collected using a self-designed questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on identifying facilitators and barriers perceived by respondents. The research was conducted in January and February of 2024. During these months, 100 respondents filled-out the questionnaire. The respondents were individuals caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities, from Prague and central Bohemian region aged 30-65 years. Tobacco and nicotine use among people with mental disability

Background: Tobacco use is one of the most serious causes of diseases and death not only in the Czech Republic but worldwide. More than 8 million people worldwide die annually from tobacco use, of which more than 7 million deaths are due to direct tobacco use and 1.2 million deaths worldwide are due to indirect exposure to second-hand smoke. It is estimated that almost one in seven adults smoke tobacco every day. There are few studies that have investigated the use of tobacco products and other addictive substances among people with intellectual disabilities, yet it is known that mortality rates among people with intellectual disabilities tend to be much higher than in the general population. Moreover, the consequences of substance use for overall health and the social impact on this population are more harmful than for the general population. The topic of the bachelor thesis is family of a child with intellectual disability and the aim was to find out how the birth of a child with intellectual disabilities affected the life of his family and how the family experienced this situation. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to an introduction to the issue of intellectual disability. It also deals with the topic of family, the birth of a child with intellectual disability and the process of its acceptance. It also looks at the changes in the lives of families of children with intellectual disabilities. The practical part is a qualitative research that explores the experiences of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews and then analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The result of the thesis is an interpretation of the experience of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities and the lived experience of caring for their child. The boundaries of social services in the area of the social-health interface - sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the integration of social and health services. The aim is to identify the boundaries of the social service of sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities in the area of the social-health interface. In this thesis social services are defined primarily according to Act No. 108/2006. In order to provide more detailed description of the clients of sheltered housing, the thesis defines the concept of intellectual disability, especially in adulthood. It focuses on sheltered housing and sheltered housing workers as well as methods and techniques of work in this social service. The thesis also deals with the interdisciplinary perspective of social work with people with intellectual disabilities while it also describes selected expertise and services in the social-health interface. Advantages and disadvantages of educating pupils with mental disabilities in independently established classes at elementary school

This thesis Advantages and disadvantages of educating pupils with intellectual disabilities in independently established classes at elementary school deals with the issue of classes established according to Section 16, paragraph 9 of the School Act at elementary schools, specifically their advantages and disadvantages from the perspective of special education. The thesis is divided into two main parts: the theoretical part and the part of the own research investigation. The theoretical part is dedicated to individuals with intellectual disabilities, education of pupils with intellectual disabilities, and the collaboration between the school and the family of pupils with intellectual disabilities. Education towards Health at Practical one-year School

This diploma thesis focuses on Education towards health at Practical one-year school. The thesis is divided into three parts. First, the theoretical part describes didactic methods used during education, the subject of Education towards Health, intellectual disability and the way it affects pupils at school, Practical one-year school and its place in the Czech education system and lastly it presents tools that teachers use for effective teaching especially for the subject of Education towards Health and with intellectually disabled pupils. The availability of different materials for teaching this subject at Practical one-year school is presented in the second part of this work, that in the form of charts sums up the results of a questionnaire. It confirms the original assumption, that there is a lack of materials among the responders. The last part of the thesis is practical. The aim of this work was to create various tools that can be used for teaching some aspects of Education towards Health at Practical one-year school. The author created and tested 21 different tools, worksheets and games which can be used for teaching said subject to pupils with intellectual disability. The issue of employment of people with mental disabilities in the labour market

This bachelor's thesis delves into the intricacies surrounding the employment of persons with intellectual disabilities within the labuor market. The primary objective of this academic endeavor is to discern the factors influencing the integration of persons with intellectual disabilities into the workforce. To achieve this objective, a method of qualitative analysis through structured interviews was employed, facilitating an in-depth comprehension of the experiences and challenges faced by these persons in their pursuit of employment. The technique of open coding was applied for the analysis of the collected data. The research cohort consisted of randomly selected persons over the age of 18 from the Central Bohemian Region. This group comprised five communication partners with intellectual disabilities and one representative communication partner, acting on behalf of an organization devoted to addressing the issue of employing individuals with intellectual disabilities. Among this cohort, three women and three men were represented. Research findings underscored that persons with intellectual disabilities prioritize employment over their leisure time. Furthermore, it was ascertained that these persons possess a keen awareness of their strengths, which they can contribute to the labour market. The outcomes of this bachelor's thesis contribute significantly to a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with employing persons with intellectual disabilities. Simultaneously, they offer substantial evaluative value to individual institutions and organizations dedicated to addressing the matter of integrating persons with intellectual disabilities into the labour market. The acquired data also holds potential as a valuable resource for social workers engaged in addressing this specific issue.
The experience of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability from personal assistants perspective

The presented work discusses the experience of personal assistants in relation to sexuality in adults with intellectual disability. The aim is to outline the area of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability and working with this focus group from personal assistants' perspective and the training of workers in the field of sexuality. Theoretical part of this bachelor thesis pays attention to intellectual disability, social service of personal assistance and clarifies matters connected with sexuality in adults with intellectual disability. The practical part includes interviews with four personal assistants in order to find out what experience they have with the topic of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability, how this experience reflects or reflected itself in their practise and how they evaluate preparedness for this area. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to point out the importance of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability and the substantiality of breaking the taboo of this topic because I believe that learning and speaking about this area leads to solving situations, which occur in connection to sexuality, in a less stressful and more confident manner and to a better output at work.
