Creation and Application of the grip test in patients after stroke
Filipová, Kateřina ; Svěcená, Kateřina (advisor) ; Svobodová, Tereza (referee)
The main aim of this bachelor's work was to create a grip test wich could be afterwards applied on patients after a stroke. An easy and time undemanding test was created whose evaluating standart is the number of achieved points. This test is used to find out the patient's functional condition in a grip area. It tests five kinds of grips. There evaluated stages of reaching, gripping, holding and releasing in each grip. The bachelor's work is divided into two parts: practical and theoretical. The theoretical part describes not only the impact of a stroke but olso the impact on the upper limb, hand and its functions and grips. It also describes testing and assessment. The practical part describes the time necessary to do the project, its realisation and application of the grip test on patients after stroke. This part also shows the results of testing. Key words: Stroke Assessment of hand grip Upper limb Grip test Grip
Methods of a grip evaluation after reconstructive surgery of the spastic hand
Pechová, Petra ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Kövári, Martina (referee)
The aim of the thesis was to find out which areas of life of people with hand spasticity may affect the performance of reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, to determine which specific factors involved in the function and dysfunction of the upper limb in people with upper motor neuron syndrome can affect the results of the intervention, and what are the relationships between these factors. The group consisted of 13 people with cerebral type of spasticity. Subjects were examined preoperatively, three months after the intervention, and five months after the intervention. Operations were performed in the wrist-hand and elbow region. Subjects were examined repeatedly by some sensory modality, goniometry, Frenchay arm test, Score for visual evaluation of functional task of the hand, The QuickDASH, modified Ashworth Scale, modified Barthel Index and each person was classified according to The Manual Ability Classification System. There was an elbow contracture release and an improvement in an active motion in the wrist as result of the intervention. The results showed a statistically significant difference in some test scores Frenchay arm test, Score for visual evaluation of functional task of the hand, The QuickDASH and the modified Barthel Index before and after intervention. In a group of people with...
Use of the thermoplastic splints for the upper limbs operation in ADL due to the limited activity of functional capabilities
Rejmanová, Alžběta ; Nováková, Olga (advisor) ; Svěcená, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis aims is designing and practical testing of "small splints" by patients which have limited functionc of upper extremities due to damage or malfunction. The proposed "small splints" are designed to facilitate the completion of certain procedures of pADL. "Small splints" are made from thermoplastic material, which is convinient for such purposes as regards the properties of ductility, variability and customization options. This bachelor thesis presents proposals of "small splints" for personal hygiene, specifically for a toothbrush and self - feeding, with selected objects: a glass, a cutlery knife, a fork and a spoon. The last "small splint" is intended to graphomotoric with a specific focus on stationery. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is based on the analysis of scientific literature and deals with general functions of the upper limbs and causes of limited functions, splinting and assistive technology options. The practical part contains the research methodology, my target and formulation of research question. Three patients with limited function of upper limb were involved in the project. These patiens tried splints over a period of time and "small splints" were modified according to their individual needs. According to the...
Possible uses of Occupational Therapy in patients with painful shoulder syndrome
Pukovcová, Klára ; Svobodová, Tereza (advisor) ; Čábelková, Alžběta (referee)
This following thesis is focused on painful shoulder syndrome and possible treatments through occupational therapy. It serves as a summary of possible occupational therapy interventions for patients with painful shoulder syndrome. The main aim was to create a treatment method that occupational therapist can provide as part of a multidisciplinary team. The theoretical part includes anatomy and insights into kinesiology, causes, symptoms, testing and treatment options for painful shoulder syndrome. The main part of the thesis introduces potential treatment procedures which can be performed through the intervention of occupational therapy and brings a new perspective in terms of rehabilitation of the disease, since it was previously primarily viewed from a physiotherapists perspective, which is essential for the treatment of painful shoulder syndrome. The practical part contains two case studies performed on adult patients who suffered with painful shoulder syndrome, both show the course of therapy in individual patients. Occupational therapy methods were practiced on patients and are dealt with in the theoretical part of the work. The methods compliment physiotherapist intervenion and facilitate the patient's return to normal daily life. KEY WORDS: painful shoulder syndrome, shoulder joint, upper...
Throwing ability in human evolution
Struška, Michal ; Sládek, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hora, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to describe the origin of bone markers that characterize individuals who throw habitually and the usability of these markers in research of past populations. The thesis also summarizes knowledge of the origin and development of projectile weapons in Pleistocene. The effectiveness (accuracy and speed) of throw is probably related to differences in morphology of pectoral girdle, torso and hand. Therefore, a part of the text summarizes the morphology of pectoral girdle, torso and hand in the species H. erectus, which was probably the first group of hominins able to throw with effectiveness close to the one of anatomically modern humans. The development of projectile technology, which came after the adoption of effective throwing ability, is usually inferred from archaeological findings of spears and arrows. Various interpretations of archaeologically found weapons bring different conclusions regarding the usage of these weapons. The usage may be inferred from bone characteristics originating as consequences of moves that individual executes when manipulating weapons.
Grips training supported by an occupational therapist using music therapy techniques
Zaňková, Veronika ; Gerlichová, Markéta (advisor) ; Čábelková, Alžběta (referee)
The bachelor thesis called Grips Training supported by an occupational therapist using music therapy techniques is divided into two parts - the theoretical and the practical one. The theoretical part deals with an introduction to the occupational therapy and music therapy, the music therapy techniques and their use in occupational therapy, upper extremity (discusses its importance, types and stages of handles) and basic information to the central paresis. The practical part processed 2 case reports of patients with quadriplegia after spinal injuries and overview of therapies, including photographs. The evaluation was performed based on observation and orientation testing. The aim is to determine whether music therapy techniques can be used to train grips.
Analysis of the movement of upper extremity during offensive stroke in female badminton players.
Prausová, Lucie ; Šorfová, Monika (advisor) ; Nováková, Tereza (referee)
Title: Analysis of the motion of dominant upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton performed by elite female players Objectives: Objective of my master thesis is to analyse movement of a dominant upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton and to point out possible risk factors for injuries and soft tissue overload problems in the region of the upper limb. Methods: The theoretical part deals with anatomical and kinesiological description of upper extremities. Then there is a description of the motion on the court and upper strokes in badminton and movements of upper extremity during the strokes. The practical part deals with measuring of rotations in shlouder joints and with analysis of motion of upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton. It is focused on measuring the range of motion, angular velocity and angular acceleration in joints of dominant upper extremity. The Xsens MVN was used to record motion. Results: The results showed that the internal rotation in the shoulder joint on the dominant upper limb during active movement examination is reduced in elite female badminton players. When an offensive strike is played, the players come to the extreme inner rotation in the shoulder joint. Next we found out that the risky movement during the offensive stroke is...
The effect of exercise with blood flow restriction on the development of muscle strength - meta analysis
Uher, Dominik ; Baláš, Jiří (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: The effect of exercise with blood flow restriction on the development of muscle strength Objectives: The aim of this work was to assess the magnitude of the effect of exercise with blood flow restriction on the development of muscle strength on the basis of a systematic research and to determine the main factors that moderate this increase. Methods: Primary sources were searched in the scientific databases Academic Search Ultimate, Web of Science and Taylor and Francis. Individual training interventions were found in the included studies. Based on the training interventions, possible moderating factors of the magnitude of the effect on the development of muscular strength of the upper or lower limbs were defined. From the results of the studies, the effect size values of Cohen's d and Hedge's g were calculated. The influence of concrete parameters of application of the vascular occlusion and blood flow restriction exercise on the magnitude of the effect was evaluated on the basis of correlation analysis. Results: A total of 27 studies were included in this diploma thesis, in which 39 different trainings using blood flow restriction exercises were found and included. Based on the correlation analysis, no direct relationship was found between the exercise parameters and the magnitude of the...
