Winkler, Nina ; Vik, Dalibor Jiří (advisor) ; Vogel, Jiří (referee)
65 Abstract The thesis examines Comenius' writing The Way of Light in the context of Comenius' universal pedagogy and religious roots. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces the reader to the historical context of the writing of the work, which is related to Comenius' stay in England and his work for the Hartleb`s Circle. The second chapter introduces the reader to the content of the work and analyses it in terms of its pedagogical and religious motives. The third chapter traces the existing commentaries on the work, especially as found in Patocka`s interpretations, within his Comenius writings. The main themes and contexts with which these analyses are associated are: pansophism, pampaedia, pedagogy, chiliasm, omniscience, reform, and the syncretic method. The main aim of this thesis is to show that the writings of The Way of Light link pedagogy and religion in a specific synthesis. One of the sub-objectives is to show the writing as still relevant for today. Another aim is to see how Patocka comments on the writing, since his understanding of Comenius stems primarily from his pedagogical efforts. I am also interested in the genesis and historical context of the work, as Comenius wrote the work under specific circumstances, namely in Hartleb's circle in England. The method...

Determination of Paternity Abstract The master's thesis primarily delves into the intricacies of fatherhood and its determination and denial in the legal framework of the Czech Republic. It is complemented by a brief delineation of related institutions, such as motherhood and parenthood. Additionally, a comparison is drawn with the relevant legal provisions in the legal system of Great Britain - specifically, England and Wales. In the first part, attention is dedicated to defining the concept of fatherhood itself and reflecting on its three dimensions in Czech law, including insights from jurisprudence and doctrine. For context, the document also discusses motherhood and parenthood - terms distinct from fatherhood but intricately connected to it. The second part focuses on the historical development of the legal regulation of fatherhood, starting from its ancient foundations laid down by classical Roman law, through the period of the first civil code in our territory, to socialist family law codes. The ways in which these historical developments have shaped the contemporary legal framework are explored. Building upon the preceding...

Political activity of Anselm of Canterbury
Kalina, Jan ; Suchánek, Drahomír (advisor) ; Drška, Václav (referee)
The thesis aims to describe Anselm's years as prior and abbot and his archiepiscopal career. Analyzing the years spent in the Norman monastery of Bec as a missionary and teacher in its school, the thesis notes the amount of knowledge and experiences which prepared Anselm for his archiepiscopal career. His intellectual qualities and theories are examined as well as some of his highly influential theological texts. Anselm also strove to spread the reforms of his teacher and mentor at Bec and his predecessor at Canterbury, Archbishop Lanfranc. Anselm's following archiepiscopal career spanned the reigns of two kings: William Rufus and Henry I. The study proves that the policies and attitudes of both rulers were quite different. Under the reign of William Rufus, Anselm tried to bring his ideal theoretical state of things into actuality, but the king resisted everything he attempted to do. With his death, Anselm's position changed rapidly and dramatically. Henry, on the other hand, excelled in the ability to work out a compromise. In the end, Anselm's archiepiscopal career concluded with cooperation between king and archbishop.

Magna Charta and It's Road Through English (British) Constitutional History
Černík, Přemysl ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
This thesis takes a look at the most important traces Magna Carta has left on its peculiar road through constitutional history. It also analyzes the facts, motifs and contemporary opinions that concern the document through the prism of present-day critical perspective and tries to connect events in a retrospective way, using knowledge, acquired and shared, by modern historians, political scientists and sociologists. The main focus is to illustrate Magna Carta not merely as a legal document, which has in consequence largely contributed to the formulation and codification of basic rights of individual human beings, but also as a metamorphic phenomenon, that on many occasions has turned out to be a powerful pacifist weapon in the hands of great historical minds. The thesis uses a platform from the three most important time periods when the document was brought to light, adapted to the current situation, and used in order to help to enforce political changes. Along with the historical, political and legal importance, the thesis also concentrates on the social, philosophical, and sentimental value of Magna Carta. The work is divided into three principal parts. The first one deals with the origin of Magna Carta in 1215. It provides the historical background for the events accompanying the formation of...
