Political and Legislative discourse about the substitute infant's alimony in Czech Republic
Cidlinská, Kateřina ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Havelková, Barbara (referee)
Czech Republic, like other European states with high divorce rate, is facing high incidence of failure to pay child maintenance. Nonpayment of child maintenance threatens healthy and successful development of children and has a significant gender aspect - the majority of solo parents, who face financial distress, are women. Being a solo mother together with the nonpayment of child maintenance and the discrimination of women on the labor market (and other effects of gender inequalities) are the main factors of the expanding phenomenon of feminization of poverty. One possible solution is an institute of advanced child maintenance, which is becoming increasingly implemented on international scale. There have already been three attempts to adopt this solution in the Czech Republic, all of them unsuccessful. The fourth one is recently being discussed in the Parliament. The aim of this thesis is to uncover the reasons for the previous failures. It maps the Czech political and legislative discourse on advanced child maintenance and analyzes it in international context. The research subjects are: Czech advanced child maintenance bills, selected foreign laws on this institute, political debates on the bills (parliamentary discussions and opinions of relevant state authorities) and interviews with Czech...

Minority group children and their activities in Salesian Centres in Teplice and České Budějovice
BÁRTOVÁ, Martina
In our free time, we pursue activities where we experience delight, pleasure, entertainment and relaxation. The choice is based on our free will. The key functions of leisure time are psychological, social, therapeutic and economic. What is specific about leisure time of children and youth is that pedagogues can encourage them. Leisure time is at the same time a risk factor. The ever increasing number of drug and gambling machine addicted young people shows the potential serious consequences of neglect of leisure-time pedagogical encouragement. Salesian Youth Centres provide a great opportunity for pedagogues to encourage minority group children (especially Roma children in the Czech Republic) in their leisure-time. The idea behind the centres is to offer leisure-time activities for such {\clqq}different`` young people looking for different forms of activities, respecting their social structure, i.e. a natural team in which they unite, and offering them an environment where they can socialise in a friendly atmosphere and feel free. Despite their continuously increasing number, the Roma population is a minority showing considerable differences from other nations and nationalities. They are different in terms of race and their ethnic attributes, they live in considerable poverty and have a completely different lifestyle. The objective of my Baccalaureate thesis is to find out what conditions Salesian Youth Centres in Teplice and České Budějovice create for purposeful opportunities for leisure-time activities for minority group children, whether the offer is sufficient and how the mentality of this ethnic group is taken into account. I also wanted to find out what activities are prioritised by the children and why. I have developed 3 assumptions, where no. 1 is: {\clqq}Most of the activities are affected by the mentality of the clients who take part in developing the programme``, assumption no. 2: {\clqq}Minority group children are more active in integrating into occasional and spontaneous interest activities rather than regular interest activities``, and assumption no. 3: {\clqq}Minority group children integrate mostly into interest, cultural and sports activities. They rarely integrate into natural science and craftsmanship.`` A quantitative method of inquiry was applied to collect the required data on the specific topics. I chose 2 techniques, i.e. an inquiry focusing on minority group children and a controlled interview with leisure-time pedagogues. To confirm or disprove the assumptions, I had to evaluate all the inquiry questions and those in the controlled interview. My research has confirmed assumption No. 1 and 3, and disproves assumption no.2.

Springer, Drahomíra ; Zima, Tomáš (advisor) ; Průša, Richard (referee) ; Zamrazil, Václav (referee)
The importance of maternal thyroxine for the development of the fetus brain early in pregnancy has received increasing acceptance. It has more recently become evident that maternal hypothyroxinemia results in the birth of children with decreased mental and psychomotor development. In our group of 7,530 women in 9-11 week of pregnancy were determined TSH, anti TPOAb and FT4. For evaluation of results was necessary to set reference intervals for pregnant women. The TSH reference interval was determined to be 0.06 - 3.67 mU/l and for FT4 9.8 - 23.43 pmol/l was used. The limit for anti-TPO positivity was determined to be 143 kU/l. A raised concentration of TSH was found in 5.14% of women; and a suppression of TSH was found in 2.90% of women and 11.5% of pregnant women were found positive. Serum concentrations of FT4 were lower in TPOAb positive as compared to TPOAb negative women and differences of FT4 in euthyroid women with suppressed, normal and elevated TSH were found. (...) In Czech Republic, case finding screening is able to disclose only about 20% of asymptomatic mild or deep hypothyroidism or women with positive anti TPO in pregnancy. Foreign study report 70% of these high-risk pregnant women, consequently is evident need of general screening of pregnancy thyroid failure in Czech Republic. Moreover the...

My diploma work discusses the topic of internet social communities in Czech Republic. This is also the reason why I compile the work as a business plan. I am trying to find out if project of this concept is in Czech Republic long-term viable, profitable and competitive. The business plan which I am trying to sketch in the practical part is example of business startup project and it's goal is to acquire an investment for the project development and promotion. The key aspect for this project is to analyze the size of the market. It means to discover if the market in Czech Republic is big enough to provide enough money. The social community portal which is the main object of the business plan is aiming relatively narrow group of users (mothers with children, pregnant woman).

Volunteering as a possible supplement to nurse's professional activity in infant's and children's homes
Kukačková, Markéta ; Štětovská, Iva (referee) ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor)
Volunteering in Infants' homes is quite a new area of volunteering in the Czech Republic and is slowly developing. The aim of the present study was to introduce and evaluate one concrete example of a volunteer program in the Infants' and Childrens' home for children up to three years in Prague - Krč. This program was started four years ago and its main idea is to find one volunteer for each child in the home who would visit the child regularly at least once a week and who would pay him individua! attention. So every child can ha ve at least for a while o ne adult person only for himself and doesn 't have to share that person' s attention with other children. We were interested in the opinions of volunteers and nurses about this · new program. These two independent groups are the main participants and also observers of this kind of volunteering, so their opinions are important for evaluating the program and also for creating a functional methodology. This methodology is the outcome of this diploma thesis, and could be an inspiration for other similar institutions. Nurses and volunteers agree, that the relationship between child and volunteer develops with regular visits. This can be observed mainly in the behaviour of toddlers older than one year. The children usually look forward to their volunteer's visit,...
