Cross-Curricular Subjects chosen for biology education.

Bachelor thesis is literature search. It compares cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic with other neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia). As the source of information were not used scholarly articles but also school education programmes of countries. Cross-curricular subjects offer an opportunity to connect most or all school subjects. Themes which mainly cross Biology are analyzed in detail. Cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic are provided only marginally.
GM crops and the third world

The inhabitants of the Third World have to deal with problems such as population explosion, undernourishment, poverty and morbidity. The Green Revolution saved millions of people from hunger through the introduction of specially bred varieties of cereal in combination with mineral fertilization. The transition from the Green Revolution to the Genetic Revolution, which consists in the introduction of transgenic crops prepared using genetic engineering techniques, could represent the future for developing countries. The work deals with the issue of transgenic crops in developing countries. The first part deals with problems of the Third World, the second part with transgenic crops, specifically the preparation process of these crops, their present and potential use in developing countries and potential risks. The third part includes analysis of the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education and analysis of selected textbooks.
The sign language current education at elementary schools for hearing impared

This bachelor thesis deals with the current situation of Czech sign language (CSL) acquisition at elementary schools for hearing impaired children. At first, the process of teaching CSL is explained, including sign language in the context of teaching curricula, existing didactic materials, testing children's knowledge in CSL, assessment in CSL and required personality traits and education of CSL teachers. This part is followed by description and explanation of ongoing problems and frequent questions connected with teaching CSL at schools for hearing impaired children. The results that can be found in my work are based on relevant specialized literature and visits two schools for hearing impaired in Vala ské Mezi í í and Praha Radlice where I had an oportunity to observe Czech sign language classes. Consequently, I discussed the situation with the Czech sign language teachers. A concrete result of this work is a conclusion that the most serious problem of CSL education is the lack of CSL didactic materials and vague position of the subject in school curriculum.I believe that my thesis will contribute to better mapping of the whole situation of Czech sign language teaching and its acquisition. Influence of methods RWCT on improvement of pupil's comunication skills

The thesis is focused on the programme Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) and its influence on the pupil's communication skills. The theoretical part provides factual information relating to the topic. It describes communication, communication skills, the status of communication in the Framework Education Programme for Primary Education and summarizes the information about the programme RWCT, its objectives, content and methods. The practical part deals with the influence of methods RWCT on improvment of pupil's communicative skills. It compares lessons at two elementary schools in terms of time, which is spended with pupil's communication, at which they have to express their own thoughts and opinions.
Masaryk's heritage in Social studies

Ethic education This diploma work deals with newly implemented school subject "Ethic education" at the school system in the Czech Republic. "Ethic education" has been defined as a project, where main topic is to develop pro-social behaviour. This diploma work specifies elementary educational aims of this project and analyses its particular educational components: contain, methods, style, topics. It also deals with the process of implementation into the Czech school system, in what social context has ethic education has been developing, how it is embodied into Framework Education Programme documents and how psychology as a science looks at moral development of a human being. Author looks at the ethic education through prism of universal principles and outcomes, such as Christian ethics and natural moral law.
Dance and movement education as a new field in the Framework education programme for primary education

The bachelor thesis Dance and Movement Education as a New Field in the Framework Education Programme for Primary Education attends to characterization of dance and movement education as a field. It considers its embodiment in primary education's curriculum, defines its educational goals and field content and adverts to its contribution for education of primary schools' students. In the first part the Framework Education Programme and its development are introduced. The second part considers the dance and movement education outside the context of Framework Education Programme for Primary Education, provides information of basic principles and activities. The third and fundamental part consists of dance and movement education within the purview of Framework Education Programme for Primary Education. The goals and competences developed by dance and movement education are defined in more detail. Mutual goal and content interconnectiveness to other educational fields is emphasized. The thesis comes to a conclusion that dance and movement education as a new field of primary education can provide a suitable room for versatile development of students' personalities and hence help to fulfill the main goals of primary education.
Mathematical Skills Applied to Teaching of Geography at High School In the Topic The Earth as a Cosmic Orb

Matýsková, P. (2010): Mathematical skills applied to the teaching of geography at secondary schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. Submitted diploma thesis deals with interdisciplinary relationships between mathematics and geography at grammar schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. The relationships are generally described from the point of view of three curriculum forms (intended, implemented and achieved). In the area of the intended curriculum there is an analysis of curriculum documents carried out, especially of the Framework educational programme and of selected school educational programmes. Subsequently, the links between selected secondary school textbooks of geography and mathematics are evaluated on the basis of required curriculum, its quality, intelligibility and occurrence of examples from the practice. The subchapters of the selected unit, in which an application of mathematical skills can be found, are defined in detail and specified on the basis of the carried analysis. My final work deals with the development of content of the pre school education in the connection of education of pre school children in the Czech lands from the period of J. A. Komenský until today. The theoretical part is aimed to the development of content of pre school education from the period of J. A. Komenský until the current Framework Education Programme for Pre school education. The practical part focuses on the content of School Educational programme for pre school education. Some different activites will be described in this part, e.g: sport and active games, poems, rhymes, songs, stories and fairy-tales, which are divided into nine integrated units. I tried these activities with children during my practise at the university in České Budějovice and also in Sepekov, in a place, where I live.
