Forming the "cosmoworld" and finding its essence
Horáková, Klára ; Šmídová, Olga (advisor) ; Petrusek, Miloslav (referee)
This dissertation thesis on the issue "How Cosmoworld Forms and What It Is" deals with the formation and content of a magazine for young women named Cosmopolitan. The aim of this work is to ascertain, whether the type of the woman constructed by this magazine is the emancipated one, to uncover how the magazine defines itself or, put more aptly, how it helps to maintain traditional stereotypes attributed to womanhood. In the introduction, the author pursues the basic theoretical concept and methodological tools suitable to apply in analysing media like Cosmopolitan. The very research into the process of production of the magazine and its content is covered in the second part of the thesis. Using the means of discursive analysis, the author attempts to resolve the type of womanhood re/constructed by the magazine and to work out what are the backdrops or frames which the magazine sets womanhood in. Further, we see the author researching the very creation of the magazine (the ethnomethodological observation in the editorial office), identifying the rules followed in writing articles for Cosmopolitan. Having analysed the content of Cosmopolitan and the process of its production, the author has come to the conclusion that Cosmopolitan re/produces a woman who sees her liberation and emancipation in sexual freedom...

The Prevention of AIDS in the Czech Republic
Štěpánková, Jana ; Tomanová, Alena (advisor) ; Marková, Eva (referee)
In my thesis I dealt with the problems of AIDS in the Czech Republic bearing in mind the need of the society to inform young people effectively about AIDS and at the same time to influence their attitudes, skills and behaviour. The aim of my work was to map all the alternative teaching methods in AIDS prevention that would be suitable for pupils of the 9th grade of the Nine-Year-Basic School and for pupils of the 1st and 2nd year in High Schools. In the theoretical part of my paper I have described, with the help of literary sources, the AIDS disease, sex education, activation methods in sex education, the project "Playing Games against AIDS", a discussion with a HIV positive person and meetings with young members of the Czech Red Cross. In the practical part of my paper I have tried to find out, by means of a questionnaire, what do 125 secondary school pupils know about AIDS and what are their attitudes towards this disease. The results have shown that the theoretical knowledge of the pupils about HIV/AIDS is not satisfactory and that their attitudes, skills and behaviour have been influenced only slightly. The results of the questionnaire have underlined the important role of teachers in the prevention of AIDS and shown that alternative teaching methods are not being used sufficiently. Finally I have...

Kosáková, Eva ; Rybářová, Marie (advisor) ; Hadaš, Lubomír (referee) ; Hosák, Ladislav (referee)
The Burn Out Syndrome with Nurses and Its Prevention The aim of my graduation work was to give a description of the burn out syndrome and to identify preventive measures used in the monitored hospital wards. In the theoretical part of my paper I have described the personality in general and tried to explaine the burn out syndrome, its causes and the way it might be diagnosed. In the following part I have dealt with the personality of a nurse, the prophylaxis in the nursing profession, the communication skills and coping with stress. In the practical part I have presented a field research carried out in the hospital in Liberec. I have use original questionnaires which were answered in the following wards: an intensive care unit, an outpatient department and a standard ward. It is true that the results of the survey are not explicit but nevertheless a certain favourable relationship between superiors and nurses has been found. The work of nurses in the intensive care unit is very demanding and even more stressful for young nurses. The burn out syndrome has not been properly followed up in all cases. Prophylaxis is the most important thing in this Arespect.

Modern Women´s Priorities: Career or Motherhood
DROZDOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis presents an overview about the fact in what extent contemporary women want to devote themselves to a full-time upbringing of children and a career. The theoretical part gives a description of the development of a woman status in relation to the motherhood and employment. It shows an image of a contemporary woman, family and gender roles. An issue of harmonization of the motherhood and career nowadays is described as well. The practical part processes a research focused on finding out the priorities of contemporary women in relation to their career and a full-time upbringing of children. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether women prefer their employment and career to a full-time upbringing of children. Another set objective was to ascertain if women decide for both roles and whether they manage them simultaneously. The research of a quantitative character was chosen to achieve the objectives and to test the hypotheses. The used methodology was a questioning in a form of an anonymous questionnaire. The basic sample of the quantitative research consisted of young women aged between 24 and 45 living in the Pilsen region. 250 questionnaires were distributed in the period of February and March 2012. 146 completed questionnaires were returned. The total return was 58%. The results were processed in the xlsx programme using contingency tables and a correspondence analysis. If we summarize all the data obtained by processing the research, we conclude that children remain the priority of contemporary women. Another finding is that women try to combine these two areas despite obstacles which can appear. It would be interesting to extend the research in a similarly focused study but with a differentiation of subjective and objective factors influencing respondents´ opinions. A subsequent comparison of the results would show the ratio between internal and external factors influencing the priorities.

Fišerová, Lucie ; Junková, Vendula (referee) ; Štětovská, Iva (advisor)
This graduation thesis tries to define positive notion of the ritual in the family life. The work consists of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part we try to suggest positive psychological role of ritual. Psychology often considers ritual as a phenomenon which is related to the obsession. Current psychological literature perceives ritual in the positive way - as a pattern of 8pccific bchnvior which is oftcn rcpcnted in the time and which has a fundamental emotional effect. Ritual can be indivual or collective, it can be ritual which is performed every day, in ordinary situations or it can be transitional ritual which plays an important role during the times of crises or changes. Rituals and their emotional experiences have a big effect on individua! and/ or family. ln the empirical part of our thesis we try to define the ritual of parents and the ritual of partners or married couple. We interviewed nine married couples in the age of 23-34 which have at least one baby. Our aim was to identify the role of the family ritual in young families. The family rituals, especially transitional, are rendered in the family traditions but the "ordinary" partner or parental rituals are very individua!. Each couple has own rituals which are important for their lives and for their needs. However we can...

The Folk Song as a Source of Inspiration in Activities in Music Lessons in Primary Schools
Brabníková, Klára ; Herden, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Váňová, Hana (referee)
Teachers often use folk songs as a means to teach children singing in tune and other musical skills or music theory. However, a deeper knowledge of the song itself happens to be missing. Yet, learning more about the music, looking deeper into its core can open new possibilities of its use in the classroom. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the path that a teacher should go through when, trying to gather knowledge about a folk song. Folk music is no more as popular as it used to be. It is therefore necessary for the teacher to spend more energy on the preparation to make it more attractive for the students. Folk song has the important feature of flexibility. The end of the 20lh century brought a new style of music combining folk songs with pop music. Its authors find inspiration in folklore, making it the basis of their own creative work. Such music thus reveals another possibility to bring the folk song closer to the today's audience and especially the young generation. Nevertheless, for the practical part I have chosen a different strategy: through encountering the folk music (songs of the southern Bohemia in this case) children learn about some features of modern pop music (from jazz through mid stream pop song to pop music.
