The proposal points out problematic areas within the libraries' operation and prepares suggestions to the program goals of the information policy of the libraries of EU Institutions. The first part is devoted to the EU information policy in general and presents the development of the information society in the context of the European Union. The next section describes the information services of the EU Institutions. Specifically, those are libraries of selected EU institutions and also the Historical Archives of the European Union and the professional association of European libraries Eurolib. Far-right parties in the European parliament

This thesis deals with the far-right parties in the European Parliament. Emphasis is placed on the situation after the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 and the post-election negotiations to create a single far-right political groups. The work introduces the theoretical concepts of the far-right, nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, populism and euroscepticism. It also deals with the issue of the European Parliament, the formation of political groups and the character of the European elections. Far-right parties in the European Parliament are presented in a separate chapter, which deals with the history of their associating into political groups, the results of the 2014 European elections and negotiations about possible cooperation. Rhetoric and ideology of the far-right is presented on the example of three parties - the National Front, the UK Independence Party and the Golden Dawn.

Framing of the EU during the European Parliament elections 2014

Framing is one of the important concepts of media studies. That is because the journalists use framing as they create news. Framing makes it easier for their audiences to perceive the news and to understand it better. In media production framing occurs mostly because of the fact that journalists are affected by their opinions or by the organizations that they work for. Even the recipients doesn't have to perceive the news same way as the author - they are also affected by their opinions and his environments. The goal of this thesis was to find out how three Czech journals - Respekt, Reflex and Týden - framed European Union during the European Parliament elections 2014. In that period media informs about EU more than usual. Another goal was to find out how journalist constructed these frames. Qualitative analysis revealed six frames, which I named: Uncertain future of the EU, Lack of interest of Czechs for the EU, Absurd regulations of the EU, Necessary bureaucracy of the EU, Relevancy of the European parliament and European MPs and Inefficiency of European MPs. In analyzed journals prevailed negative frames over positive ones. As tools of framing authors used mostly headlines and captions. Selection of sources wasn't as important as choice of vocabulary and repetition of words in texts.

Euroscepticism in the European Parliament: Has the behaviour of the eurosceptic MEPs changed?

The aim of the bachelor thesis "Euroscepticism in the European Parliament: Has the Behaviour of the Eurosceptic MEPs Changed?" is to analyse political behaviour of eurosceptic MEPs in the European Parliament. The influence and a number of politicians who disagree with European integration and who strongly criticizes it has been getting higher in the last years. It also has an effect on the result of elections to the only directly-voted institution of the European Union. Twice as many of these politicians gained seats in the European Parliament in the elections in 2014 than in 2009. Two political factions that associate MEPs whose position is to be against European integration have also been formed. However, there was only one faction like this in the last legislative term. According to these recent circumstances this bachelor thesis analyses the definition of the term "euroscepticism" and also the behaviour of eurosceptic MEPs. Stronger political representation of this political stance means more possibilities and space for changing these stances to political actions in the European Union. The phenomenon of Spitzenkandidaten and its impact on the interinstitutional dynamics of the EU

The bachelor thesis describes the process of the enforcement of the Spitzenkandidaten procedure into the EU political system. An ambiguous definition of the relation between the Commission Presidential Candidacy and European election results, which emerged in the Lisbon treaty, led to the creation of a new political precedent that has real chances to remain for good among the EU procedures. This thesis will nevertheless show that suggestions that the victorious party should name its candidate for the Commission President are not new. Moreover, it will highlight that the process of the EP and the Commission getting ever closer is a result of a much longer process. The arguments for and against the new procedure will be presented and evaluated. A detailed insight into the European elections 2014 campaign, which had a partially different shape due to the Spitzenkandidaten process, will provide the reader with an answer to which extent the outcomes of the elections were actually influenced by this exact procedure. The same objective is borne in mind when the candidacy of Jean-Claude Juncker is evaluated, proving him to be, although elected not traditionally, a candidate-as-usual. Political Macro-geography of the European Parliament

This diploma thesis has several objetcs. The main objective is to answer the research question and seven hypotheses including elections to the European Parliament and MEPs behaviour from individual europarties. Some hypotheses include the participation of the electorate of the member states in elections to the EP, while others relate to participation of MEPs in voting, cohesion and coalitions that are formed in the parliament. Data on voting are obtained thanks to a project created by the London School of Economics. These data are already clearly adjusted, because official data on voting the European Parliament show in a form that could not be analyzed without software support. After the introduction follow two chapters, in which there is described theoretical framework involving the search of relevant sources on the European Parliament, describing his position within key institutions of the EU, its function, history, and empowerment to the election of MEPs to the europarties. The results show some charasteristic patterns in the European Parliament. MEPs in most cases hold the party line rather than national. The transfer of (im)politeness in interpreting

While the linguistic concept of politeness has been thoroughly analyzed, the same does not apply to its interpreting. The present theoretical-empirical work describes the means for expressing politeness grouped by G. Leechʼs maxims of politeness. The empirical part analyzes recordings of simultaneous interpretation from media and European Parliament settings. This is a quantitative study and the outcome is the number of means for expressing politeness which the interpreters conveyed into Czech. On average and in all of the material 65,7 % of means for expressing politeness were conveyed into Czech in compliance with the maxims. The means analyzed are prosody, non-verbal communication, modality, personal reference, etc. An equivalent interpretation of means of politeness was deemed desirable. The thesis verifies the hypothesis whether the level of politeness significantly increased in comparison with the original speeches. The Issue of President Benes Decrees on the Czech-German relations

The bachelor thesis deals with the debate on the Benes Decrees in the European Parliament between 2002 and 2003, which took place in the context of the accession negotiations of the Czech Republic into the European Union. The paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter summarizes the development of relations between the Germany and the Czech Republic after 1989. Particular emphasis is placed on the emergence of Czech - German Declaration in 1997 and critical objection for annulment of presidential decrees. For the proper understanding and more insight into the problem, why the Benes decrees create such a barrier in the Czech-German relations, the second part of the thesis is dedicated to those decrees, which still arouses criticism and resistance. In this chapter are thus described various Decrees in detail - when and why they were established and what the consequences in practice mean for Czech and German population today. The third part is dedicated to the debate in the European Parliament, explores the attitudes and opinions of the individual politicians in the European Union and the Czech politicians, who were forced to respond to this situation. Priorities of EU sport policy and funding for sports

Title: Priorities of EU sport policy and funding for sports Objectives: The main objective is to describe the existing methods and the resulting possibilities for the sport funding EU-level scheme. This will result in presenting a comprehensive and clear picture of all EU funding mechanisms that could be beneficial for sports. The thesis also aims to describe the issue in the context of the EU sport policy priorities development and give an overview of the Council and Commission sport-related policy activities. Methods: In this thesis, a method of analysis of legislative and non- legislative texts was used. Other documents examined were further relevant studies, publications and strategic texts. A method of synthesis was also used when the partial information gathered during the relevant meetings of Council formations, conferences and seminars was formed into a comprehensive text. Results: The result is a text that captures the development of EU sport policy priorities and offers specific recommendations for area of sports that derive from the acquired information and from analysis of EU funding schemes.
