"Is it Rational to Believe in God?". Epistemology, Metaphysics and Method in the Works of Bernard Lonergan
Nevrkla, Svatopluk ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Kranát, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate interrelatedness between various concepts of God and metaphysical assumptions from which they have been derived. This will be done with special attention paid to philosophical work of Bernard Lonergan. On Lonergan's case I will show his solution of problematic presuppositions of scholastic understanding of God. In introduction I will summarize reasons that made me to choose this topic, goals of the thesis and methods I will use. First chapter will be dedicated to brief introduction of selected proofs of God's existence and their metaphysical premises on which they rest. Enlightenment critique of metaphysics will be described and its consequences for metaphysical proofs demonstrated. Second chapter will introduce context and goals of works of modern Canadian Jesuit theologian Bernard Joseph Francis Lonergan and his concepts of judgement and selfXaffirmation. Third chapter will be concerned with description of Lonergan's metaphysics and finally with some criticism of Lonergan's approach from perspective of postXmodern, hermeneutic, and linguistic philosophies. In conclusion I will confront Lonergan's results with older philosophies mentioned. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Distribution and Meaning of the -ák Suffix in Czech Corpora
Goroshko, Vladimir ; Adamovičová, Ana (advisor) ; Starý Kořánová, Ilona (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with theoretical exploration of characteristics pertaining to the Czech suffix -ák and determination of statistical correlations relating to its distribution in Czech language corpora. The problem is approached through a general description of word formation in the Czech language and theoretical attribution of the -ák suffix to semantical and morphological categories and derivation paradigms. Particulars of the -ák suffix, such as homonymy, productivity and expressivity, are being described. Practical research is aimed at comparison of data obtained from the SYN2010 written language corpus and the ORAL2013 spoken language corpus and assessment of their appropriateness for investigation of the modern language. The research has confirmed that corpus data to a large extent conform with theoretical distribution of the suffix, with a few minor exceptions described in the text, and that such distribution shows certain differences between the written and the spoken corpora. Particular attention to univerbisation is paid both in the theoretical and the practical parts. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The submitted dissertation seeks to analyze the political process associated with the origins of the lsraeli polity during the British Mandate over Palestine. Particular attention is given to the political turmoil within two rival blocks: the Zionist Labor movement and the Revisionist movement. The structure of the dissertation reflects the fact that Haim Weizmann, the longserving president of the Zionist Organization, and his then dominant General Zionists were sidelined at the turn of 1920s and 1930s by the two activist trends of Zionist politics that came to dominate Israeli society from that time forward. Fričová, Michaela ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The starting point of this piece of work is proposition that television and its texts are an agent of the dominant ideology in society. Through the princip of hegemony the rulling class imposes its meanings and values on the subordinated classes. Hegemony is based on allowing resistent and alternative meanings which are nevertheless articulated in terms of the dominant ideology and are subsequently incorporated into the existing system. This thesis then follows John Fiske's understanding of popular culture and activated texts . These are texts which do not imp lose one limited meani ng on its readers, but which allow its readers by means of various strategies to interpret the text with regards to their social position. The second part of this work includes semiological analysis of a particular product of popular culture - the television serial Misto nahore. The emphasis is put on the process of encoding - how the dominant meanings and values are encoded and implied in the text. Besides, the attention is directed towards the 'opening' strategies of the text. This section also includes an analysis of the secondary texts (newspaper and magazine articles ) and terciary texts (viewers' reacti ons and opinions on the web). I examine whether the sec ondary texts promote dom inant or resistant reading strategies,...
