The Pragmalinguistic analysis of Czech and French commentary

In the center of interest of this dissertation called The Pragmalinguistic analysis of Czech and French commentary lies in the qualitative methodological approach to a specific media communication form - a printed commentary. The dissertation has several objectives: firstly, it describes the methodological tools used in the francophone analysis of discourse which are consequently used to construct the author's own system as a basis for the analysis. The author has chosen the tools which create language subjectivity and manifestation of the author in the text which are in francophone areas traditionally called as a complex of "énonciation": discourse/history (É. Benveniste), "théorie des blocs sémantiques", polyphony and intertextuality, metaphors, modalisators, deictics, connectors. In the second part of the dissertation, the author uses the theoretical basis built in the first part and applies it to create her own analysis, comparison and final evaluation of two journalistic texts - one from Le Monde and the other one from Hospodářské noviny. The detailed analysis of the texts brings very interesting findings about the different character and construction of the Czech and French commentaries and at the same time, about the different coverage of Czech and French presidency of the Council of the European...

Bakalářská práce se zabývá překladem odborného českého textu do anglického jazyka. Cílem je přeložit a okomentovat studijní materiál týkající se počítačové architektury. Práce využije různé lingvistické prostředky pro určení a pojmenování rozdílů mezi českým a anglickým jazykem, a také jak udržet stejný význam v žánru odborného stylu.

The aim of this thesis is to present a functionally equivalent translation of five chapters from a book about Spanish equitation. This book was primarily aimed to Spanish readers with at least basic knowledge about the topic and about Spanish history, traditions and culture. The thesis consists of two parts: the proper text of the translation, and the following commentary which focuses first on the analysis of the original text and problematic areas which we find while translating the text, and second on strategies and shifts used for solving all of the translation problems. Each of these strategies goes with illustrations from both the original and the translated text. There is a copy of the original text and respective photos attached in the appendix.

Speech of the Tourist Guide

This work deals with speech of the tourist guide from the point of view of individual linguistics levels. This topic was chosen because the author of this work studied tourism at secondary school and she has personal experience with the job of tourist guide. Second reason is the fact that this topic has not been described in details yet. Beside the activity of tourist guide and his/her nonverbal communication, this work deals with his/her speech from the point of view of five linguistics levels - phonetic/phonological, morphological, lexical, syntactic and stylistic one. For their analysis four video-records were used. There is real speech of four tourist guides at castles on these videos. The result of this work is the formulation of specific features of speech of the tourist guide. There are several points added to these features. These points are about recommendation for each tourist guide and his/her right and effective speech.

"The Comparison of the European Football Championship broadcastings on Czech television and Prima TV" bachelor thesis entertains the qualitative and quantitative differences in European Football Championship broadcast on Czech Television and The Comparison of the European Football Championship broadcastings on Czech television and Prima TV. Up until the year 2004, including, European Football Championship has always been broadcast by Czechoslovak or Czech television. For Euro 2008, however the broadcasting rights were acquired by The Comparison of the European Football Championship broadcastings on Czech television and Prima TV. The thesis is aimed at differences in the approach to broadcasting between The Comparison of the European Football Championship broadcastings on Czech television and Prima TV and its predecessor. For example it discusses the contrast between public and privately owned television services in Czech republic or the historical tradition of the sports news in both televisions. In qualitative comparison of both broadcastings, is the bachelor thesis concentrated on approach to football championship broadcasting and the approach to programme before, during and after the match and on finding the differences in commentaries of the live broadcasts.
