Elements of play in adult education
Froněk, Jan ; Svatoš, Vladimír (referee) ; Šerák, Michal (advisor)
A "play" or a "game" are both terms that are frequently used in the field of adult education. Nevertheless, they have several different meanings, and a variety of diverse activities can be subsumed under them. This thesis focuses on the definition of the term "play" and also on the differentiation between a "play" and an "activity with elements of play". Games and plays are presented therein as an enriching part of our lives. The aim is to show the fact that for an adult educator the play is a phenomenon worth dealing with. Another part of the thesis attempts to categorise the types of games and plays frequently used in adult education. The largest section of the paper presents "reviewing" of methods with elements of play as an essential skill of an experiential trainer. Reviewing enables the learner to benefit from taking part in the activity and to transfer the experience into his/her further life.

Essays on Capital Structure Stability
Shamshur, Anastasiya ; Hanousek, Jan (advisor) ; Švejnar, Jan (referee) ; Estrin, Saul (referee)
Recent financial literature claims that capital structure of firms stays unchanged during the long periods of time. In my dissertation I investigate the question of capital structure stability from different angles. First chapter asks whether the macroeconomic volatility could be translated to capital structure adjustments. To answer this question I consider CEE countries during 1996 to 2006 period since those economies went through extensive economic changes including transition from central planning to market economy, large-scale privatization, and substantial economic reforms to become the EU member. Surprisingly, macroeconomic changes are not translated to capital structure changes. Therefore, second chapter focuses on causes of such puzzling behavior. I find that credit constraints firms face in obtaining finance are responsible for the observed pattern. Unconstrained firms are more active in adjusting their capital structure in response to economic changes. Moreover, firm's ownership plays an important role in explaining leverage of unconstrained firms. Third chapter studies changes in leverage in the context of M&As. I compare the leverage of both acquiring and acquired firms using difference-in-differences propensity score technique. I find that there is an increase in the leverage of...

The paper emphasized its irreplaceable part as a source of important news in the lives of the Czechs From Volhynia. It follows the how Loyal Guard informed on the subject of the oncoming eletions in 1948 and the stand it took after the events in February 1948. It also tries to outline the topical changes that ocurred during the year of 1948. The disertation also shortly...

RNA interference in plants
Čermák, Vojtěch ; Kulich, Ivan (referee) ; Fischer, Lukáš (advisor)
The process of RNA interference allows cells to regulate functions of their genes. This process is usually initiated by the presence of double-stranded RNA within a cell. Such double-stranded RNA is diced by a specific protein called Dicer into duplexes of small RNAs, usually 20-25 nucleotides long. Single-stranded small RNAs, released from the duplexes, are the heart of RNA interference and they can be categorize into several groups according to their biogenesis. There are two groups of small RNAs in plants: miRNA and siRNA. Small RNAs can associate with a protein called Argonaut and guide it to the target molecule on the bases of sequence complementarity. The Argonaut-small RNA complex can act on itself or it can interact with other proteins in a wide spectrum of processes. The complex can slice the target mRNA (which can be handled by the sole Argonaut and small RNA), it can suppress translation or it can direct chromatin modifications. The phenomena of RNA interference can be found in almost all Eukaryotes where it can serve many functions, for example it can control cell differentiation, participate in stress responses, direct changes in chromatin and defend the organism against viruses. A diverse set of operating modes of RNA interference can be found in plants, which we are only at the...

Fair Trade: Altruismus, nebo egoismus?
Pánek, Martin ; Chalupníček, Pavel (advisor) ; Petrášek, František (referee)
This bachelor thesis discusses the issue of Fair Trade. It tries to solve the question whether Fair Trade is an altruistic, or an egoistic phenomenon. The thesis explains how the author understands the terms "altruism" and "egoism" and then describes the methodology used to distinguish between the two. Special attention is paid to the problem of information asymmetry and how Fair Trade is specific in this respect. The thesis largely discusses Fair Trade as development aid and questions the effectiveness of this particular kind of development aid; it clarifies what role the problem of altruism plays in it. This thesis also discusses the issue of public choice related to the main topic. It reviews some examples of public decisions and links them back to the question of altruism. Using standard microeconomic analysis, the thesis is concluded with a statement on altruism or egoism behind Fair Trade.

Julio-Cesar Santoyo and his contribution to the development of translation studies
Zlatohlavá, Petra ; Králová, Jana (advisor) ; Ježková, Slavomíra (referee)
The purpose of this work is to evaluate the contribution of Julio-César Santoyo, a contemporary Spanish theoretician, to the development of translation studies. We have provided an overall summary of his work together with an overview of its reception. The analysis of individual works and theoretical knowledge is preceded by an overview of theoretical concepts applied in the 20th century Spain, which serves as an outline of the context and environment which influences this theoretician. We have focused on all three aspects of his work, i.e. theory, criticism and history of translation. Our task was to provide a complete insight into his thinking within these disciplines. Our analysis is based not only on his book publications but also on numerous specialized articles which he has been continuously publishing throughout his entire academic career. Within the translation theory field we have focused on particular issues Santoyo deals with in his works, mainly on defining the meaning, purpose and position of translation in miscellaneous areas of human knowledge and on topics closely linked with translation. Let us mention for example the endosmosis and exosmosis translation concept, limits of translation, transient nature of translation or reflections upon the role of translation in literature as well as upon...
