The effect of playing table football on pupils´ handwriting

The thesis explores the possibilities whether playing table football may influence the handwriting of primary school children, i.e. whether it makes the psychomotor aspects of learning to write easier to master. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on medicine and kinesiology. It introduces the functional anatomy of hand when writing. Also, it is based on recommendations concerning correct writing tools and aids used when teaching handwriting. Next, the research part presents factual findings from the field and opinions of respondents helping interpret the research findings.

Lettering and the ways of implementing it in practice

The focus of this bachelor thesis is lettering as a very specific part of graphic design, which has been experiencing certain boom in the last couple of years thanks to its authenticity and generally thanks to the trend of returning to the values of hand made products as a contrast to mass production. First part of the thesis is focused on defining and clarifying some expressions related to lettering, such as hand-lettering, typography, calligraphy and modern calligraphy. It also describes different methods as well as the tools and media which can be used in lettering. At the same time, it approaches some of the basic rules and work processes, of which the process of transferring traditional hand-lettering into a digital form is mentioned in more detail. The practical part deals with a few primary areas in which lettering can be used, particularly selling designs through print-on-demand websites, databanks, intermediaries, custom work and finally, a self-owned online shop. Presenting practical examples, it tries to show advantages and disadvantages of these different areas. The main benefit of this thesis is in a united view on lettering as a stand-alone field and profession in which many designers have made their living.

Émile Benveniste and the role of sens

Eva Krásová: Émile Benveniste and the role of sens My thesis "Émile Benveniste and the role of sens" is a monographic study of the life work of Émile Benveniste (1902-1977) through the role that the concept of meaning (sens) takes in his thought. I adopt the methodology defined by K. Kœrner as "historiography of language sciences", and thus my perspective on Benveniste's work is mainly chronological and developmental. First part of the thesis concentrates on theoretical foundations of Benveniste's thought in the school of Paris (A. Meillet and M. Bréal), Prague (R. Jakobson and V. Skalička) and Copenhagen (texts around 1939). I point out the concept of language system in diachrony in A. Meillet's thinking and in Prague school and present a hypothesis about the role of Émile Bneveniste in their contact during the International congresses of linguists. This results into a description of the perspective of meaning as it was presented in Benveniste's 1962 lecture "Levels of linguistic analysis". Second part deals with Benveniste's concept linguistics of discours. Typography of web design

Typography is one of the most important elements of web design and marketing. Good typography makes web design more appealing, which is important for readers in evaluating titles and the quality of text. The aim of this thesis is to provide a characterization of good and bad typography. I will use this characterization to identify modern typographical trends in a digital background. In the theoretical part, I will describe the basic features of typography. In the practical part, I will distinguish appealing typography and visual smog, and find specific examples demonstrating typographical trends in web design.

Role of human figure drawing in Indicative test of school maturity

The thesis studies the role of human figure drawing in Orientační test školní zralosti (i. e. Jirasek's Orientation Test of School Readiness). The starting point is the correspondence between human figure drawing and other tasks in both verbal and non-verbal thinking. For the empirical material we have chosen pre-school children results in Orientační test školní zralosti, including the verbal thinking test and Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices. The aim is to examine correspondence of human figure drawing with other tasks taking into account verbal and non-verbal thinking and logical and infralogic operations. The data was collected in two stages with the interval of four months and therefore it is able to assess durability of findings in time. The thesis is beneficial in terms of qualitative analysis of discovered correspondences and also in developing a theory of abilities tested by the test, especially regarding human figure drawing. Last but not least it is helpful in examining similarities and differences in the ability of children to analyse and synthetize. Evolution of relationship between media and religion by McLuhan's historical structure

Media are very powerful in present days, they are bringing conversational topics, they can easily manipulate our opinions. Media influence our thinking and our ideas about the world around us. Media influence are everywhere, media affect all areas of life including the religion. It is just religion what is one of the most important cultural factors. The religion is the source of values and morality from the beginning of human society. In order to religion could exist across the centuries, it had to adapt to the type of media which was dominant at the time. This dissertation discusses the link between media and religion, specifically about the connection between media type which is provider of religion and the nature of religion. This work also represents the most important church media and religious channels in the world and in the Czech Republic. The first goal of this work is to prove that religion still has big influence on society and that's the reason, why is religion in media so often.
