Posts of the Presidents in the Countries of Visegrad four
Tesař, Ondřej ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Javůrek, Petr (referee)
The diploma theses "Posts of the President in the Countries of Visegrád Four - Funkce prezidenta v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky" describe analysis of the positions of four Presidents in four different parliamentary regimes. After the analysis of historical tradition, constitutional competence and the most important events in the particular terms of office of the particular Presidents, the aim of the diploma theses is to compare the four chosen different conceptions of the presidential posts. The comparison of the four presidential posts has another aim. This aim of these graduation theses is to analyse the incoming possible reform of the presidential elections in the Czech Republic from indirect elections to direct ones. The potential introduction of direct elections of the President in our country would mean some changes in the position of the President of the Czech Republic and his or her perception by people. Some of the described cases are excellent for the analysis of the incoming possible transition to a direct presidential election, in which similar reforms of the presidential elections, and the related changes of the Constitutions, have already taken place. The ideal case is the neighbouring Slovakia, which introduced not only the direct elections of the President at the end of the last and at the...

Optical emission spectroscopy of the nitrogen post-discharge plasma with metal trace impurity
Bocková, Ivana ; Mazánková, Věra (referee) ; Krčma, František (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis deals with the optical emission spectroscopy of the nitrogen post-discharge with metal trace impurity. The analysed sample introduced to the low-temperature plasma was zinc vapor and stannic chloride. As a diagnostic method was choosen optical emission spectroscopy as one of the simplest plasma diagnostic methods. The teoretical part is aimed to information about plasma and processes in the plasma. The special focus is deald for post-discharged plasma and the optical emission spectroscopy. Measurement itself is implemented in flowing regime of DC post-discharge under low pressure. The intensities of selected nitrogen bands and atomic lines are observed as a function of metal vapor presence. The simplified mechanism of the observed phenomen is presented. The possible excitation mechanisms are shown of metallic atoms during the post-discharge.

The economic reforms in Czechoslovakia and GDR during the sixties of 20th century
Jeřábek, Martin ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee)
The theme of this thesis is economic reforms in Czechoslovakia and German Democratic Republic (GDR) during the sixties of 20th century. In the first part I focus on the progress of economy in Czechoslovakia. After major problems with planning came the need to implement fundamental reforms of the system. The primary reform steps and also the attitudes of the political leading to implement the steps are interpreted here. I focus on the final phase of reforming process in 1968 and its termination by military intervention in August of 1968 as well. In the following part the complicated relations in post-war East Germany, where the similar economic development to Czechoslovakia took place in the fifties, are interpreted. The pursuit of equalization with West Germany and the regime dissatisfaction of the population compelled the main representatives of GDR to reform the system of leading economics. Despite good results, which the new system brought, it was not able to keep and deepen the system. The aim of the thesis is to answer reasons why the reforms in both countries did not succeed.

Sport and the Olympic movement in Visegrad Countries and their Transformation in Post-communist Era
Jakubcová, Kristina ; Waic, Marek (advisor) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee) ; Kocian, Jiří (referee)
The thesis analyzes the development and status of the Olympic Movement in the Visegrad countries and makes the mutual comparison of it in these countries. History of development of modern sport since its inception, including interest in the nascent Olympic Movement in these countries, has similar features. Especially after the onset of communism the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary and Poland, went, not only in sport, through similar developments. This area was "united" and its management has pursued state organization, which claimed to control all branches of sport. After the fall of the communist regime awaited new challenges for sport. Sport had to at least partially replace state funding for alternative sources, build it's own structures, set up relationships between subjects of sports scene, establish the place in these relations and structures of the Olympic Committee or influence the legislative framework for their own effect. During the research it became clear that understanding the development of sport and the Olympic Movement after the fall of communism is not possible without a thorough description of the situation in the region after the Second World War and the emergence of communist regimes in the countries of the future Visegrad Four. Therefore, the original intention, working primarily...

Suková, Anna ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Prázová, Irena (referee)
Bachelor thesis "The Transformations of the Relation between a Reader and a Book in the Years 1990-2009" aims to describe and clarify the development of book reading in the Czech Republic from post-revolution years to the present days with an extension to the 80s. Mapping of this subject-matter is based on an analysis of a range of readers' surveys which addressed the relation between a reader and a book, reading habits, behavior on the book market, libraries, preferred literary genres and authors etc. This thesis covers all these aspects. It also deals with international researches of reading literacy among teenagers (PISA). In the beginning it offers several readers typologies in search of the most suitable definition of a reader. It treats the significance of the book for human society and explains the changes on the book market since the fall of the communist regime. Then it characterizes sociological research and its requirements as well as its possible limits and deficiencies. The most extensive chapter describes individual readers' surveys, from information about how they were carried out to their most important findings which are then put into context. To conclude the thesis compares essential data from these researches and their selected results. It also proposes key trends in reading and...

The law applicable to the interception of communications of parliamentarians in selected European states (and the connection to the issue of parliamentary immunity): Study 1.227
Vlčková, Marie ; Havlenová, Jitka ; Syllová, Jindřiška
From the foregoing sources we may summarize that most of the analyzed countries allow wiretapping of MPs under the same conditions as other citizens (how the police intercepts so the intelligence ones). Only in limited number of countries the parliamentary immunity covers wiretapping. In that case there is necessary to obtain approval for wiretapping of an MP of some authority of Parliament. In a few countries, the interception of MPs has special regime. The permission must be approved by the specific body (court) other than the parliamentary chamber, however, different from the authority that permits the wiretapping of other citizens. Regarding the supervisory authority of wiretapping, most states have no such parliamentary body. Mostly post-socialist states have some parliamentary supervisory body dealing with wiretapping of secret services (committee).

Esaays on Corporate Bankruptcy
Vychodil, Ondřej ; Münich, Daniel (advisor) ; White, Michelle J. (referee) ; Weill, Laurent (referee)
Research Journal Articles Working Papers Research in Brief Series Dissertations Other Publications Featured Article Dissertations Date: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 10:30 Ondřej Vychodil: "Essays on Corporate Bankruptcy" Dissertation Committee: Gérard Roland (chair) Libor Dušek (local chair) Evžen Kočenda Jan Hanousek Abstract: The dissertation consists of three chapters on corporate bankruptcy: In the first chapter (joint with Ondřej Knot), we develop a model of a debt-contracting problem under bankruptcy regimes differing by a degree of softness. In the model, the degree of softness is associated with the extent to which the absolute priority rule can be violated. We show that when the degree of softness can be set individually for each project, then the debtor's tendency to excessive risk-taking can be eliminated and the first best solution can be attained. When it is given exogenously by a bankruptcy law, then a completely tough law results in a lower distortion from the first best than a soft law with a moderate degree of softness. The second chapter documents that the recent Czech bankruptcy practice tended to delay the ultimate exit of a firm when it can be expected to have a harsher ex-post effect on the firm's employees. Bankruptcy duration is regressed on unemployment rate, size and other...
