IMPACT OF WORKLOAD ON THE MENTAL STATE OF THE POLICEMEN IN SPECIAL FORCES
HOŠKOVÁ, Šárka
The thesis deals with the workload influence on the mental status of police officers in elite formations. I have focused specifically on the Rapid Deployment Unit and the Unit for the Protection of Constitutional Officials. I have been interested not only in the workload and its effects on the psyche but as well on differences between these two elite formations. Their job may appear to be pretty similar from a layman?s perspective but there are more differences between them than it seems at first glance. The purpose of this thesis is to map the workload influence and psychological burden of these two special units. My next objective is to identify the extent of stress prevention and workload compensation in terms of comprehensive health promotion within the two elite formations. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part introduces the organization and activities of both departments while defining some basic terms - stress, coping with stress and the consequences of stress such as burnout syndrome or post traumatic syndrome. The empirical part presents the methodology and organization of the research investigation which has been performed by the quantitative method of questionnaire surveys. This part will also offer an evaluation of the data and assumptions arising from the objectives along with my recommendations for practice.

Russian captivity as the whole-life professional inspiration. War years of botanist Josef Podpěra
Pazdera, David ; Kodera, Pavel
In the introduction of the study authors present their working typologization of career of Czech scientists during WW I. Consequently, they begin with the analysis of a war line of a Czech, or Moravian botanist Josef Podpěra, who is an interesting example how the military conflict in the certain circumstances could be an important benefit for a professional career. On the eve of the war Podpěra was an officer of c. k. Landsturm. In March 1915, when the fortification Přemyšl fell, he was taken as a Russian prisoner and was transported into eastern Russia town Ufa where he began with studying Russian nature and botany, since autum 1915 even under the patronage of the gubernian museum in Ufa. His scientific activity in Ufa was continuing till the approach of Czechoslovak legions which he joined in summer 1918. The continuance in Ufa gave Podpěra a solid base of knowledge of Russian nature and botany, which he built his very succesfull career at Masaryk university in Brno after war on.

Guatemala: Military conflict 1960-1996 and actual situation with particular reference to Mayan people

The dynamics of participation in leisure time activities by soldiers on foreign missions in dependence on their current mental states
Konvalinková, Kateřina ; Rychtecký, Antonín (advisor) ; Hošek, Václav (referee)
3 Summary The deployment of soldiers on foreign missions can be accompanied by both mental and physical strain. Consequently, it is necessary to search for alternative ways of preventing any adverse phenomena and keeping the soldiers in a good mental and physical form. The possible action seems to be the creating of such conditions on military bases that would match soldiers' existing standards of living and ensure sufficient number of motion and leisure time activities. The title of the thesis: The dynamics of participation in leisure time activities by soldiers on foreign missions in dependence on their current mental states The objective of the thesis: - To examine whether there exists a relationship between performing sports and other leisure time activities and the dynamics of experiencing mental states during a mission; - To diagnose changes in mental states of observed persons; - To find the most frequent stress factors influencing soldiers on military bases and to map out possibilities for leisure time activities. Research question: Does the length of deployment and the related changes of soldiers' mental states influence their participation in leisure time activities? Does a military base offer sufficient choice of facilities for leisure time activities? Working hypotheses: H1: The intensity and...

Šplíchalová, Vladana ; Vybíhal, Miroslav (referee) ; Mužík, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis provides information and clarity on the education system in the army of the Czech Republic, as well as its role and the reason why it is needed. The thesis also describes individual steps of this education system, including a system for life-long education. This document aims to provide basic information regarding the army of the Czech Republic, primarily the need for its existence and its tasks, but also its role in the world-wide context. Furthermore, it looks deeper into high-school and university education, as well as a vast life-long education system. The life-long education system covers an extensive offer from elementary to highly specialized courses. Additionally, the thesis tries to clarify potential career opportunities for soldiers leaving the army. The points stated above, such as the scope of this system, and life-long education, have become the major reasons why I have selected this theme. Last but not least, the thesis provides a constructive view of this education system, some of its challenges and new areas to explore. It provides an overview of all the education activities in the army. This can help those who would like to get to know more facts about this complex system, since the times of army mandatory service are gone, and as such, there is not much information available....

Operational and mobilisation plans of the Red Army 1940-1941
Černík, Marek ; Nálevka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Tejchman, Miroslav (referee)
In the 1990's appeared new relevant documents from archives in Moscow, which bear testimony, that the Red Anny was being prepared for an attack on Gennany in 1941. There are two basic hypotheses: 1. The war preparations of the Soviet U ni on in spring 1941 had an offensive character. 2. The Red Anny war ready to start a large-scale offensive military campaign in the West already in summer 1941. The aim of this rigorous thesi s i s either to confinn such hypotheses or to deny them. The topíc is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with Mobilization Plan MP-41, which was approved in February 1941. This plan is presented as a basic document for reorganisation and reannament of the Red Anny. It would have required around five years to provide the Red Anny with weaponry called for by the MP-41. However there was no need to achieve full combat strength according to this ambitious plan to launch an attack on Gennany. Soviet mobilization in spring 1941 was carried out secretaly and covered by large training excercises. The second chapter speaks about the war planning in the period 1940-1941. All modifications of Operational Plans (Strategie Deployment Plans ), which were worked out in the Operational Directorate of the General Staff, were thoroughly analyzed. In the centre of my analysis there was an...

Otcová, Václava ; Haškovcová, Helena (advisor) ; Svobodová, Hana (referee)
The study is summarizing circumstances under which nurses come from their maternity leave back to their jobs in the particular hospital. The theoretical part is dealing with problems in families, gender irregularities and, above all, employing mothers with small children. Also some specific features in nursing jobs are described, plus legal normatives of the national or international law connected with the main thesis of this study. In the practical part, the qualitative research is presented, based on strategy of the so called grounded theory. The results show analyzed interviews with nurses-mothers of children in their pre-school age working at the Central Military Hospital in Prague. The proposed theory brings conditions under which nurses with small children come back to work successfully. Final recommendations should make the process of coming back to work easier for nursesmothers after their maternity leave and increase their chance in their comeback to the particular hospital.

Bullying of pupils in primary school
Košťálová, Pavla ; Walterová, Eliška (advisor) ; Kraus, Blahoslav (referee) ; Pilař, Jiří (referee)
This dissertation work on the subject bullying in elementary schools is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirieal. In the theoretical part I primarily define the basic terms, that is what bullying is, who is the perpetrator and who is the victim, specifying their personál characteristics, family relations and their position in the group. I continue with classification of types of bullying (explaining why I have chosen the classification for my research Parryho a Caringtona) and with grades of bullying. The main object of theoretical part is description the problém and an inquiry into bullying on the family level, on the school level and on the police level. There is no generál method how to solve bullying on the family level. In my work I only mention recommendations proven by practice: What the parents can and should do for their children and what rights they have. There is even no generál method how to eliminate bullying in schools. I compare in my work the method proposed Pothem a Kolářem. The method of a solution to bullying on the police level, rights and duties of policemen, criminologists and sPecialists is determined by laws and the method instruction of the chief of police. In the conclusion of the theoretical part there is a table where the differences between the solution of bullying on...
