The Big Bao book series produced by the Baobab publishing house and its media image in the Czech media between the years 2004 and 2019

The bachelor thesis The Big Bao edition in the production of the Baobab publishing house and its image in the Czech media between the years 2004 and 2019 follows up the Big Bao edition published from 2004 to the present days by the Baobab publishing house that focuses on children's literature. The edition is made of novel genre books for older children's readers. The goal of the thesis is to critically analyze the edition's content, graphic design and to identify the edition's position amid the rest of the publisher's production. The thesis also focuses on the edition's image in the Czech print, online and audiovisual media. The thesis is divided into two separate parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the author describes the Czech children's literature and it's history. He also focuses on Czech children's literature's illustration. In the practical part author pursues the Big Bao edition itself, characterizes it, describes its individual titles, authors, and graphic design. He further pursues the Czech media image of the edition between the years 2004 and 2019. Online live blog on football matches in Czech media

The Bachelor thesis Live online reporting on football matches in Czech media describes online reporting as one of new types of sports journalism in the digital era and engages in forms of online reports in chosen Czech media outlets. The main method used while completing the thesis were semi-structured interviews with deputies of chosen media outlets. The main research topics were targeted on the beginnings of live reporting in the particular media outlet, whether there are any internal rules about creating those reports, what does writing online reports require from their author and the use of multimedia and statistical databases. Based on collected data, the work describes similarities and differences between online reports that are caused by different way of creating those reports by particular media outlet.
Media coverage of Fridays for Future

The present thesis investigates the impact of the global strike for climate organised by the Fridays for Future movement and led by Greta Thunberg on the approach of selected Czech media toward their coverage of environmental topics. By applying the method of quantitative content analysis, the thesis aims to uncover how Czech media reported on a clearly defined area of ecological problems and incidental environmental topics before and after the protest, while dedicating special attention to the representation of topics and frames in media agenda and the coverage of the respective persons and organisations involved. The theoretical section defines global ecological issues and presents theoretical concepts relevant for studying the media coverage of environmental topics and the impact of social movements and their protests on the agenda of the topics at hand with regard to historical and societal contexts. The thesis' methodology introduces the primary and secondary research questions and explains the choice of the variables of interest for the subsequent quantitative content analysis of selected Czech media. Analysis of stereotypes in tv travel shows of selected states of sub-Saharan Africa

This thesis aims to analyze stereotypes in Czech TV travel shows with a focus on the region of sub-Saharan Africa. The chosen form of research is a content analysis, divided into three parts: thematic, visual, and textual. Thematic analysis focuses on the selection of topics. Visual on how the camera processes the story and the text part analyzes the keywords. Selected programs that were used for this research are three TV travel shows of Czech production: Objektiv, Cestománie, and Koření. All three programs show that the tendency to portray sub-Saharan Africa outside of the news is rather stereotypical, and Africa's unified media presentation highlights recurring themes: political instability, poverty, or a beauty of African nature.
Media Representation of Motherhood in Selected Czech Media

This diploma thesis is focused on a representation of motherhood in the selected Czech media. Motherhood itself and the view on it had changed in 21st century in many ways as shows the recent research. The goal of this thesis is to show how is the topic "motherhood" represented in selected Czech women's magazines and what kind of media construction of this topic are presented to the readers. To reach the goal of this research the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used. Specifically, the frame analysis and quantitative content analysis. The work begins with the theoretical part which contents the recent concepts of feministic media research, because this thesis is based on the feministic and gender theory perspective. The empirical part of the thesis contents the results of the research. Firstly, the nine frames that had been identified are presented and evaluated than quantitative representation of the frames follow. Finally, there is the evaluation of the quantitative content analysis to which side research questions and hypotheses relate. The results are evaluated and compared with theory and foreign research in the discussion and the final part. The limits of the research and the outline of further possible research in this area are also presented.
The Image of India in the Czech media since 1990

This thesis deals with the image of India in the Czech media. The analysis begins in 1996 and continues to recent years. The aim of the thesis is to describe the image of India in the Czech print media. The principles of the theory of discourse, discourse analysis and image in media as well as the methodology are defined in the first chapter, which also contains the description of the primary sources for the further analysis. The following part of the thesis contains the results of the quantitative media analysis, that show which media are writing most often regarding the topic "India". The thesis further shows the results of the qualitative discourse analysis, which explains in detail how are the journalists creating the image of India and how they directly contribute to the construction of the image of India among the readers. The conclusion describes how is India communicated in the Czech Republic.
The MeToo movement and its reflection in selected Czech printed media outlets

This Bachelor thesis aims to research and describe the media image of the MeToo movement, which prompted women to share their experiences with sexual violence on social media. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the MeToo movement and its evolution from a local initiative to help socially disadvantaged African American women to its current state, impacting predominantly the American entertainment industry following the scandalous sexual predátory behavior of Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood producer. The next chapter describes the way the MeToo movement proceded to affect the Czech Republic a the reactions it elicited in Czech society. The thesis also examines the complex issue of sexual violence, its forms and effects and the way its looked upon in Czech society. The media research in this thesis studies texts from Czech online media outlets iDNES.cz, Novinky.cz and Respekt.cz, published between November 2017 and January 2018. The research is completed through the method of triangulation. The method of Berelson content analysis is used and followed by a qualitative method of interpreting the texts. The thesis is complete with charts and a list of analysed articles.
Critical Reflection of Marek Šindelka's Current Prosaic Creation in the Czech Media

Diploma thesis Critical Reflection of Marek Šindelka's Current Prosaic Creation in the Czech Media has the aim to analyze selected critical reflections that were published in the Czech media about a novel Chyba (2008), a collection of short stories Zůstaňte s námi (2011), a collection of short stories Mapa Anny (2014) and a novel Únava materiálu (2016), all of them written by author Marek Šindelka. The source of reviews and critiques published between 2008 and 2018 are czech literary magazines A2, Host, Revolver Revue, Souvislosti and Tvar, daily press Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Právo and websites iLiteratura.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The analysis was made according to data in the archive of Institute for Czech Literature. Content of these critics was found in the full-text archive of media news from the Czech Republic called Newton Media Search and as well in the archive of concrete media depending on the availability of full text including its bibliographic data. In total, 43 texts are subjected to literary-critical analysis. Negative impacts of media fame

The main topic of the work is how Czech media inform about psychological problems of celebrities such as depression, manic depressive psychosis, addictive behavior, or suicide, and tries to answer the question of how much the media fame can affect these issues. The theoretical part summarizes concepts from media studies for better understanding media behaviors, for example media news selections process, concept of news values, the role of media in today's society and the difference between tabloid and serious media. From the psychological point of view, work summarizes the preconditions of psychological problems and their manifestations. It also provides brief pieces of information from official sources about lives and careers of selected celebrities. The second part of thesis is about analyzing the data, it means articles that informed about selected celebrities in connection with their psychological problems. The practical part is about finding there some common features and tendencies in media informing and also about showing differences between the ways of how tabloid and serious media present news.
