The teacher's assessment competence at primary school with a focus on self - assessment of Pupils

The dissertation refers to the issue of school evaluation. It focuses on the competence of a primary school teacher to develop self-assessment of pupils. The theoretical part is devoted to the personality of the teacher, his profession including the qualities of the teacher and the professional standard. Furthermore, the teacher's professional competences, the concept of teaching and the ability of reflection and self-reflection in the teacher's profession. Then, in this part, autor is dedicated to the personality of the pupil in the learning process, the climate in the classroom and the interaction between the pupil and the teacher. In conclusion, the author focuses on the evaluation in the learning process, the objectives of the evaluation and its types. Particular attention is paid to formative assessment, especially self-evaluation of pupils, methods and methods of implementation. This paper titled "Evaluation of the lower secondary education students and its influence on learning motivation" is focused on the most frequently used methods of evaluation at today's schools. It considers not only evaluation methods complying with students but also relation between evaluation and learning motivation. It includes an analysis of current situation of students' self-evaluation. The whole paper is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part portrays the core essence and the importance of the evaluation, its principles and qualities. It describes some important concepts, such as a pedagogical evaluation and its legal framework. It identifies function and techniques of the evaluation from the school legislation point of view and at the same time it illustrates the current tendencies in its development. The present thesis focuses on assessment of pupils at primary school in relation to motivation for learning. The theoretical part describes kinds and forms of assessment and aspects influencing students' motivation. The practical part researches if a form of assessment influences student's motivation. Research results show that a student's motivation is determined by family influence and upbringing from which a student's attitude to education unreels. School assessment does not cause students any problems; it is important and desirable for them and their parents.
Development of self-assessment within formative assessment of primary school pupils

The diploma thesis deals with the development of self-evaluation within the formative evaluation of primary school pupils during the first and second grade of primary school. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter characterizes the period of younger school age. The second chapter deals with the characteristics of evaluation and assessment with emphasis on school assessment, its goals, functions, types and risks. The enclosed master thesis focuses on assessment in the Natural History educational area at lower-secondary school (ISCED 2). The main aim of the thesis is to get acquainted with the concepts and methods of school assessment, subsequently to select appropriate methods and approaches to assessment for the education of Natural History and to verify them in practice with the use of action research. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. First, the topics related to the subject matter are presented in the theoretical part. The pedagogical communication is an indivisible part of the assessment process. The assessment is also dependent on the approach to education and applied objectives. Bloom's revised taxonomy is mostly used in the area of cognitive objectives, however Marzano and Kendall's (2007) New Taxonomy of Educational Objectives is also applied nowadays. The assessment includes a wide variety of possibilities and approaches, from which grading and oral assessment are the most common. Equity in assessment from pupils'point of view: Case study

The thesis relates to the grading system during the first five years of primary school. It concerns the various types of assessing students, especially grading, assessment for teaching and self-evaluation. It aims to find a fair way of assessing the school grading system. It also concerns the relationship between the teacher, the students and the parents. The practical part of the thesis relates to the outcome of the research of the case study. The main method were group interviews with the pupils, a semi-structured dialogue with the class teacher and a questionnaire filled in by the pupils' parents. The aim was to find out how the students, teachers and parents perceive the fairness of the grading system. The research shows that the pupils and the parents alike find the assessment for teaching and marks the fairest. The teachers found that they needed specific criteria in order to assess the students whether with a grade or by a written assessment.
Implementation of the Learning Stories method in pre-primary education in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of evaluating the learning processes of preschool children. The aim of the diploma thesis is to examine the possibilities of implementing the Learning Stories method in Czech preschool education. The method serves as a tool for documentation, evaluation and support of children's learning in kindergarten and is one of the methods of formative evaluation that are used in preschool education abroad. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part characterizes preschool age and its specifics, analyzes the patterns of learning of the child and current approaches to pedagogical diagnostics, its types, methods, means and anchoring in the Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education. Implementation of the Learning Stories Method in a Czech Nursery School

The diploma thesis focuses on the Learning Stories method and its implementation in a Czech pre-school. Its aim is to explore, document, and analyse how the Learning Stories method is applied into a Czech pre-school as a part of the process of formative assessment. The theoretical part defines assessment in the pre-primary education - its content, and characteristics. Selected assessment tools used in a Czech pre-primary education are introduced. The theoretical part then focuses on the definition of the formative assessment in both Czech and foreign literature, and on the analysis of the Czech Statutory Pre-primary Educational Framework in the relation to the formative assessment. It also describes theoretical background of the Learning Stories method and its use within the international pre-primary education. This thesis deals with the topic of formative assessment embedding. The goal of the theoretical part is to map the school assessment in general, mention its functions, types, forms and language. The purpose of this work is also to describe the process of formative assesment embeding, which is the topic of this thesis, where at first the formative assesment will be characterised and then divided into several sub-parts, which characterise suitable strategies for its embedding. Next goal is to summarize the characterstics of a lower age pupil, where the focus will be on his/her cognitive, emotional and social developement. The theoretical part is concluded by a chapter dealing with the specifics of a beggining teacher. The goal of this chapter is to describe his/her features and skills, which he she should have. This diploma thesis has theoretic - empirical character. The thesis is focused on self - assessment proces of pupil on the firt level of primary school. The aim of the work is to ensure and to interpret which of methods and resources the teacher have used for evaluation during the guidance of first grade - pupils to their self - assessment. The theoretical part focuses on purpose and reason of self - assessment and it's position in evaluation procedurs of teacher and on pupil's develipment, which is very essential for self - assessment, too. This part is concentrated on teacher's copmetencies which are very important for his - her option to lead pupils to the assessment. The practical part is based on cognitire investigation. The research part contains some objectives, methods, and research questions: What is the use of methods during the leading of pupils to self assessment? What is the pupil's experience with self - assessment? This part is concentrated on case studies of purposefully selected teachers, teachers and pupil's answer, which were done trough questions of the test.
