Elimination of Barriers in Programmes of Czech Television for People with a Hearing Disability

(in English): This bachelor thesis deals with closed subtitles as a means to remove barriers in terms of access to programmes broadcasted by Czech Television for viewers with hearing disabilities. The theoretical part provides a general view at the target audience and their communication specifics that may affect their closed subtitles usage. Attention is also paid to the statutory framework which sets out the obligation to provide a certain percentage of broadcasted programmes with closed subtitles and to the extent of fulfillment of the legal obligations. The possibilities of providing pre-recorded programmes with closed subtitles are discussed as well. The practical part reports a research probe focused on the satisfaction of hearingimpaired viewers with services of Czech Television.
Medialization of the monetary separation and the Czech koruna formation in 1993

This diploma thesis describes an unexplored field of study - the medialization of the monetary separation and Czech koruna formation in February 1993. The thesis maps Czech media discourse devoted to this theme and answers the question whether the media, through its contents, could contribute to a positive perception and acceptance of this fundamental economic reform that actually completed the dissolution of Czechoslovakia process on January 1, 1993. For this purpose the thesis uses the qualitative research methods, the semiotic analysis and the discourse analysis. The introduction briefly outlines the sociopolitical situation in the country. The theoretical part describes the role of money and monetary policy, the technical preparation of the currency separation, including a new series of banknotes, and outlines Czech media trends after the 1989. The methodological part contains specific objectives, research questions and widely presents the selected research methods. Kids news - Czech television children chanel ČT: D newscat

This thesis deals with programs for children and news for children on public channel ČT: D, which broadcasts from August 2013. Individual chapters are focused on public TV in Europe, and their children's news. Children's news are set in a European context of children's shows. The thesis includes two studies, quantitative content analysis of show Zprávičky within two months - from October to November 2013, and qualitative research through in-depth interviews with ten respondents representing the target audience of channel ČT: D. Quantitative content analysis focuses on the themes of children's news, how much time is devoted to such topics, and whether the messages are really focused on their audience, the children. Qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews with respondents investigated the children's views on the agenda of news items that show watching on topics that kids want, watching the news affects daily life. The Ukrainian crisis in the news coverage made by ČTK and its comparison with ČT news with focus on crucial events within the conglict

This diploma thesis points out differences in the reporting methods of CTK and CT, the two public service's media, regarding the Ukrainian crisis. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on both of these media's properties with emphasis on their foreign coverageas well as related medial terms' definitions. One chapter is reserved to cover Ukraine as a state and its political history since the SovietUnion's disintegration through to 2014 and the Ukrainian crisis development; further studying the relationship between Ukraine and the Russian Federation resulting in the crisis in 2013. In the practical part of the thesis quantitative and qualitative methods are used to determine how much attention and screen-time both media dedicated to the crisis, which parties were given opportunities to comment and identify other sources of information. Keeping in mind the fact that CT had four reporters on site at it's disposal, the thesis tries to find out how big of an influence that had on the overall production, processing and tone of the television news and to what degree the production of both media agreed or diverged.
2010 - "Počítáme s dětmi v České televizi": Programmes for Children and Youth in the Czech Television

The diploma thesis "The Year 2010 - Pocitame s detmi v Ceske televizi: Programmes for Children and Youth in the Czech Television" deals with broadcasting for children and youths on Czech Television and focuses on the production of cyclic programmes. It summarizes the production of these programmes since the beginning of Czech Television in 1992 until 2010. The author also describes the structure of production centers in Czech Television that used to produce and are still producing those programmes. Furthermore, the author analyzes the strategy Pocitame s detmi v Ceske televizi which followed the previous projects - "Osudove osmicky v nadich dejinach" (the Fateful Eights in our history) and "Rok svobody" (the Year of Freedom). The analysis consists of an overview of existing, new cyclic and also planned programmes which Czech Television started or planned to broadcast during this strategy. A method of programming the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its focus groups

This thesis deals with programming of the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its audience. The first part of this thesis is a theoretical explanation of the television programming. It clarifies reasons and methods of the channel structure, then it introduces the research of viewer ratings. It concerns the techniques of the television programming whose goal is to gain sufficient ratings of the stated programme. However, it also determines the Czech Television as a public broadcaster with respect to the Czech law. It tries to explain how this fact affects programming of the Czech Television's channels. The second part of this thesis consists of practical research of programme ČT1. It analyses four weeks in 2015, it clarifies their main features. It takes knowledge from three interviews with the key operatives who are responsible for the programming at the Czech Television. It also devotes to the fact how the target audience forms placing of programmes sociologically. It is known that the association of human life with television broadcasting is necessary and strong. Besides, it identifies the channel ČT1 as it is, it compares its target audience with other channels of Czech television. TV-debate - argumentation and persuasion: Václav Moravec questioning's case study

The diploma thesis presents own research method for examination of speech formations. It focuses on examination of televised political debates. The method applied here may be characterized as an organized hermeneutic analysis of political discourse. Through the application of an analytical - philosophical approach (e.g. application of the theory of maxima, illocutionary acts evaluation, and analysis of arguments and verification of their truthfulness), the method allows us to establish objective facts of the debate as well as some personal features of debate participants. To examine texts, the theoretical knowledge of distinguished authors (J. J. Austin, K. Bayer, T. A. van Dijk, N. Fairclough, H. P. Grice, J. Habermas, J. Kraus, G. N. Leeche, J. R. Searl, and others) have been made use of. In addition to the literary survey, the thesis also includes the argumentation in respect of selection of the method, selection of talk shows, transcript of debates from TV records, transformation of the text into an analysable form, and research methodology. Regionality in public-service television of selected 'European countries - comparative study

This diploma thesis focuses on history, position and activities of public service television broadcasters in selected European regions: South Moravia, Eastern Jutland, Andalusia and Scotland. In its theoretical section, we address the issue of the changing role of public service media in the era of technological convergence and new emerging opportunities in the environment of social media and other digital platforms. We also discuss the importance of regional television stations, studios and editorial offices from the viewpoint of both broadcasters and the citizens of particular regions. The empirical section consists of a comparative study focusing on the activities of Czech Television's studio in Brno, DR's production center in the Danish city of Aarhus, a regional station called TV2 Østjylland, RTVE's territorial center in Andalusia, a regional broadcaster RTVA and, last but not least, BBC Scotland. APPLICATION OF NONLINEAR EDITING METHODS IN TELEVISION NEWSCAST

This work studies the influence that non-linear editing of visual materials and usage of digital news production system have on the final form of news programmes. I also compare these advanced technologies with the older linear editing and analog playout, illustrate it by describing the principles of both methods and explain it on a hypothetical example. Two chapters are devoted to the integration of digital archives and graphics tools. The examined period used for comparison of new and old technologies is the week from 2 to 8 April in 2010 and the same week a decade earlier. The news programme examined is Udalosti on Czech television. The aim is to point out how the technical possibilities can change the workflow and form of newscast, not just in theory but also practically.
Legal regulation of the product placement a its utilization by the czech television

The main aspects of this thesis is the analysis of the legal regulation of the product placement and its utilization by the Czech television. Czech law comes from the Directive 2007/65/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, therefore several chapters are dedicated to secondary law of the European Union. The last part of this thesis includes few ideas about the law de lege ferenda. The second part of this thesis consists of the application of the product placement by the Czech television and there is a comparative analysis with selected television shows from around the world. The comparison is made with the similar shows in regards to their format and style. The result is a recommendation how to apply product placement in the future and kind of mistakes could be prevented.
