Švarcová, Alžběta ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Wolák, Radim (referee)
The thesis propounded below is based upon a presumption that one of the significant means of socialization is mass media. It represents a source of information since an early age of a child, constitute the models of a socially acceptable behaviour and depict the values and norms that are applicable to the society. In continuation to the ambiguous character of socialization, on one hand allowing an individual to integrate fully into the society, on the other hand, however, producing the present inequalities, the author enquires into the way how villains are portrayed in television cartoons, that is, those who violate these commonly accepted norms. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author builds predominantly on the sociological reflections of the character of the modern society, the character of socialization and social norms. In the chapters dealing with the socialization potential of media she employs primarily the modelling theory that stems from the more universal social learning theory. In the empirical part the author, using qualitative research, tries to describe how villains are portrayed in television cartoons and besides other statements, she proves that their world has a strictly dichotomic and exclude character. One of the outcomes of the thesis is a typology of villains who can...

Růst Mycobacterium smegmatis na agarovém médiu a agarovém médiu pokrytém celofánovou folií - morfologická a proteomová studie
Ramaniuk, Volha ; Weiser, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Beranová, Jana (referee)
Biofilm formation is one of the most common bacterial survival strategies. Majority of bacterial species are able to form these three-dimensional structures, including pathogens like Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Representatives of Mycobacterium genus widely occur in the nature, although they can cause serious problems when they appear in medical equipment and artificial replacements of the human body. Non-pathogenic Mycobacterium smegmatis mc2 155 was used as a model organism in our experiments. We investigated morphology of the three- and six-day-old colonies (in fact biofilms) on agar and agar covered with cellophane using Stereo microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope. We found that a type of surface as well as a carbon source has a great influence on the morphology of the M. smegmatis colonies. We isolated proteomes from the agar and cellophane cultures and from planktonic culture. Two-dimensional electrophoresis was used as the main proteomic method. Proteomic data were analyzed using PDQuest software. Then the sets of proteins detected by qualitative and quantitative analyses were compared using Venn diagrams. As a result, we recognized 7 unique proteins that might be specific for recognition and adhesion of bacteria to the cellophane, no unique protein in agar proteome and 46 unique...

Jirkovská, Petra ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Dorčáková, Jana (referee)
This thesis is focused on the media's reflection of Vaclav Havel following his speech to the U.S. Congress in February 1990. Four Czechoslovak dailies have been analyzed - Rude Pravo, Mlada Fronta, Lidove Noviny, Prace - and three American newspapers - The New York Times, USA Today and The Washington Post. The period under consideration is from 15 February to 1 March 1990. I also looked at how the event was viewed ten and twenty years later. In that respect, only the Czech press has been analyzed in the period of February 2000 and 2010. For the purpose of this analysis, a qualitative research method was chosen, which allowed me to better assess and interpret the depiction of Vaclav Havel in the respective media. The theoretical part focuses on the social and political situation in Czechoslovakia in the winter of 1990 and on the role of Vaclav Havel in the foreign policy. Each newspaper is described including differences in the historical development of Czechoslovak and American press. The objective of this thesis is compared with the social and media construction of reality.
