Boháč, T. ; Šeděnka, M. ; Smutný, J. ; Pazdera, L. ; Pešek, Luděk
Within the long-term development of railway wheels with vibration and noise absorbers manufactured in the Bonatrans Group a.s., their numerical modelling is in process as well as their dynamic and vibro-acoustic testing in laboratories and in operation. This article provides a brief description of the methodology of operational measurements of the railway wheels noise with and without absorbers including the results obtained on the basis of the analyses of the measurements in the underground in Boston and Prague and on the test ring of the reference track in Cerhenice. The effectiveness of the applied absorbers resulting in reduction of the noise of moving vehicles on various tracks during various travelling modes is evident from the results.

Šídlová, Petra ; Skálová, Lenka (advisor) ; Boušová, Iva (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Mgr. Petra Šídlová Consultant: Doc. RNDr. Lenka Skálová, Ph.D. Title of Thesis: Cytostatic pharmaceuticals in the environment, methods for their elimination Recently there is an increasing interest in studying the effects of drugs used in human and veterinary medicine on the environment. Pharmaceuticals and their metabolites are excreted by patients into wastewater in considerable amounts. Conventional methods of wastewater treatment are often unable to fully eliminate these substances. Pharmaceuticals and their metabolites can get into the environment and affect the ecosystem. One way to streamline wastewater treatment is the application of phytoremediation technology in the form of root plants. In this work, the ability of plants to accumulate and degrade the cytostatic drug doxorubicin was studied. At the same time phytotoxic effects of this substance were monitored. For this purpose different systems of cultivation of plants were used: hydroponics in common reed (Phragmites australis (Cav.) Steud.), in vitro cultivation for Grey rushes (Juncus inflexus L.) and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana L.) and cell culture suspension of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.). Concentrations of...

Holubec, Stanislav ; Kárník, Zdenek (advisor) ; Moravcová, Mirjam (referee) ; Měchýř, Jan (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to outline the social reality and the everyday life of Prague working class between the two world wars. Prague, which was at that time changing into a modern city with growing population, was also the city with the largest number of workers in Czechoslovakia. We have especially focused on working-class families, health and sexual issues, living conditions, cultural life, political attitudes and education. In the thesis, archive sources of the period have been used, namely those of organizations dealing with workers or workers' own organizations like political parties, labour unions or interest groups. Another source of data is a qualitative sociological research of witnesses. The analysis of statistical data, periodicals of that time and other literature have also been employed. We have attempted to show the Prague working class with its rich diversity, as a very heterogenous group merging with other social classes. Apart from social differences, we have emphasized the impact of gender and generation on the everyday life of Prague working class.

Thus we were offered the insight into the townhall, its offices, circumstances of the origin of missivs, we observed individual characters and institutions involved in the negotiation procedures. We came across the issue of messenger service mediating the delivery and last but not least we were concerned about receiving correspondence, its interpretation at the time and the content of discussed matters. Another issue we dealt with was the terminology ie. definition of written communication, diplomacy terminology, especially register issue defined as supplemental office book in publishers'offices containing the office scripts. The written communication of the perion represents just one component of wide range of ties occuring in the corporate society. The most significant role was represented by the city council the...

Between Prague and Vienna. Hermann Bahr and J.S. Machar and the spaces of (Central) European Modernism
Kostrbová, Lucie ; Brabec, Jiří (advisor) ; Fialová, Ivana (referee) ; Vojtěch, Daniel (referee)
This thesis deals with the relations between Czech and Viennese literary modernism during the 1890s, key amongst which were the contacts between Hermann Bahr and J. S. Machar. The contextual underpinnings, nature and significance of these relations are analysed in two monograph chapters. Chapter One focuses on the formation and transformation of Bahr's modernist programme as it moved between Berlin, Paris and Vienna, and an analysis is made of the programme keywords (Nervenkunst, Nervenromantik, Überwindung des Naturalismus, die Moderne, das gute Europäertum, Entdeckung der Provinz), which from the early 1890s found a response among Czech critics (e. g. F. Zákrejs, J. S. Machar and F. V. Krejčí). Bahr's conception of Viennese modernism and Austrian culture and the programme of the Die Zeit review were substantially influenced by Parisian experiences of the plurality of artistic production. Chapter Two follows developments in the work of J. S. Machar after he moved from Prague to Vienna in 1889. Machar's experience in Vienna is analysed in texts of various genres (lyric poetry, correspondence, autobiography, polemics and essay writing) and on the basis of his varying literary and intellectual contacts, while attention is paid in particular to his relationship with Jaroslav Vrchlický and T. G. Masaryk. A...
