Reception and Processing of Visual Information in Traffic
Černochová, Dana ; Štikar, Jiří (advisor) ; Michalík, David (referee) ; Rymešová, Pavla (referee)
Reception and processing of visual information in traffic Mgr. Dana Černochová Abstract The theoretical part of this work deals with the visual perception of the driver. Special attention is paid to the perception of visual information in the whole range of the field of view. From psychological point of view, the term functional field of view is important, the construct taking into account not only perception, but also the attention. Its size depends on the amount of information which have to be processed at any given moment. Foreign literature uses the term "Useful field of view" under the abbreviation UFOV, german literature uses the term "nutzbares Sehfeld" under the abbreviation NSF. The experimental part of the work focuses on evaluating the changes of the visual perception in the range of the visual field in relation to age. For this the SET of 1361 people in age group from 18 to 90 years. In further subchapters the experiment is described where the secondary task was used as variable in order to find out whether the increased cognitive load affects the range of the useful field of view. For this experiment, the set of 645 people of age 18-90 years was used. The parameters of the visual perception in the situations with and without added secondary task were also monitored for the relationship to the...

Examination of the visual perception in children with visual impairment through an assessment procedure, called In-Sight
Janečková, Klára ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
This thesis focuses on the problematics of examination of visual perception in children with visual impairment. There are three parts to this thesis. The first part is dedicated to visual perception. It starts by describing the physiological development of eyesight and the examinations of it in childhood. It is followed by a description of visual functions and functional vision assessment. It also deals with individual parts of visual perception and the support of their development. The second part describes the In-Sight test in detail, including the instructions to its use. The third part introduces the research: the diagnostics of visual perception in children with sight impairment through In-Sight test. Its core method is a foreign standardised In-Sight test. This test is used to evaluate visual operations in children with visual impairment and to perform a screening of theirs higher visual abilities in relation to the process of education. The aim of this thesis is to describe the usefulness of this test in this target group. The research also attempted to find new ways to use the test. An observation was made as to which areas the children found most difficult and which they found non-problematic, what actions can be taken to support them based on the results and whether it is feasible to...
Power and Effectiveness of Photojournalism in the Digital Age
Topinková, Martina ; Láb, Filip (advisor) ; Pospěch, Tomáš (referee) ; Prokop, Jaroslav (referee)
This dissertation thesis deals with the emotional power and effectiveness of photojournalism in the digital age. It focuses on journalistic photographs in the context of their emotional impact and examines the effects of the emotional response on media recipients. At the theoretical level, the work characterizes the origin and development of modern photojournalism and how it has established itself within media as a separate discipline; the digital age and its specifics in relation to modern photojournalism; and the emotional power of photojournalism itself and theories of emotion. It also briefly introduces the concept of visual literacy and defines ethical standards in the work of photojournalists. The analytical part of the work names specific features of the emotional power of photojournalism and the relationship between emotionality and journalistic photography. It also deals with the similarities between journalistic photography and reality and how mediation of reality through journalistic images has an effect on media recipients, again with regard to emotional aspects. Finally it touches on whether journalistic photographs have the potential to mobilize society through their exposure to the sensitivity and internal attitudes of media consumers, or on the contrary they cause numbness and...
Evolution of prey-catching behaviour in poikilothermic vertebrates and its relationship with predator's visual perception
Košinárová, Lucie ; Frýdlová, Petra (advisor) ; Robovská, Pavla (referee)
Both the topics of prey-catching mechanism and visual perception are closely connected, affecting each other in many complex situations. The main subjects of this thesis were amphibians and reptiles and the many effects that impact their hunting abilities. We studied their hunting patterns in a few species of frogs and the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) in an arena. We did not find any universal hunting pattern for neither of those groups, moreover even the quantity of individual sequences differed among them. However, hunting in nature is often engaged in habitats that are far from the flat calm arena. Often the animals have to adapt to different conditions, for example an unsteady surface underneath them. In such conditions they need to compensate for the passive movement with their heads and eyes to stabilize the image on their retina. The ability to compensate while hunting in frogs is affecting their behaviour and the success rate of their prey-catching. Another aspect that is influencing frog's hunting efficiency are their protrusible tongues that are commonly divided into three categories: mechanical, inertial and hydrostatic. The last goal of this thesis was looking for the evolution of this trait in frog's phylogenesis and their different effects on hunting movements.
The use of eye tracking in marketing research
Smékal, Jan ; Vranka, Marek (advisor) ; Houdek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the use of the eye camera in marketing research. The introductory part focuses on the basics of eye physiology, which are necessary for understanding the principles of eye tracking. This is followed by an introduction to the process of measuring the path of vision, its history and the development of methods. It introduces the reader to the eye camera and its most important parameters and introduces him to examples of practical use of eye tracking in various areas. It also describes the capabilities and limitations of the eye camera, the possibilities of combination with other research methods and, last but not least, it also contains a practical demonstration of the possibilities of analysis and visualization of measured data. Then it looks at eye tracking in the context of marketing and visual perception and introduces the reader to the application of the eye camera in various areas of marketing research. The practical part aims to bring the reader closer to the practical side of eye-tracking. Through a specific example, it shows what such research looks like and what it entails. From experiment design planning to data analysis and interpretation. The research examines the general phenomenon of the influence of the direction of the model's view on the effectiveness...
Analysis of Pedestrian Recognition by the Vehicle Driver
Šlapal, David ; Kropáč, František (referee) ; Maxera, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with vehicle driver’s recognition of pedestrian in different driving and light conditions. The introductory part will be devoted to basic theoretical knowledge. The attention is focused on safety measures to prevent accidents between pedestrians and vehicles. The main part will be devoted to the pedestrian´s visibility from the driver´s point of view during reduced visibility on roads in darkness. The practical part of this work summarizes the results of the experiment using the selected vehicle and chosen participants. During this experiment, the distance necessary for detection, recognition and identification of the pedestrian will be measured, to stop the vehicle safety in time or to avoid an obstacle on the road.
