Czech Periodical Press in Region off Cheb in Years 1945
Dlouhá, Petra ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Krejcar, Robert (referee)
The main aim of my diploma thesis is to capture the development of the periodic press in Cheb after the end of the Second World War. It is a period which brought extensive demographic and socio-economic changes to Czechoslovakia and especially the border regions. That is why this topic must be set in a wider context. At the beginning, I describe the history of the Cheb region, which, from its earliest history, had a distinct position within our country. I also researched the general issue of Czech-German relations after the foundation of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. A chapter in the thesis deals specifically with what happened during the Second World War in Cheb. The main emphasis is however on the first months in the Cheb region after the war. The reason for this is that it was a period of essential reversal in Cheb. Everything that used to be German was now to become Czech. It was essential for the newcomers to receive information in their mother tongue. The core of the thesis is the development of the Czech regional press in the Cheb region. In the year 1945 there only was a single journal published in Cheb - Chebsko. My thesis will present this journal, which first came out shortly after the end of the Second World War. I will also make a quantitative analysis of the first publishing...
The displacement of the German population from the Šternberk area and its impact on the regional economy
Zajíc, Marek ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
Abstract/Annotation The theme of this bachelor thesis is the influence of the displacement of German population from Šternberk on the local economy after 1945. The thesis deals with the state of Šternberk's economy before displacement and its development after the above mentioned year. The thesis contains statistical data on the original composition of the population and the number of trades and crafts. Furthermore, the largest employers in the city and the region are introduced. It is also stated in the individual chapters that the transformation of economy was not an exclusive issue in 1945, but was gradually taking place in different sectors. The sources I have worked with when writing the text prove that the character of the Šternberk region has been completely different from the present day for several decades. Through archival materials currently stored in Olomouc, it is possible to create a comprehensive picture of how the displacement of Šternberk Germans took place at the end of World War II. It is also evident from some of the selected sources that Šternberk and the North Moravian region were subsequently settled also by repatriates. The aim of this work is to acquaint the public with the preserved sources that provide insight into what was then happening in the North Moravian region.

It deals with the rhotics in general and subsequently focuses on the r- sound, both in Czech and in German, as well as in mutual comparison. In the last chapter, the combinatorial qualities of the r-sound which are used as a basis for the practical part are discussed. The practical part describes the conducted research. Five recordings of German students were collected. The students were staying in Prague for one semester with the Erasmus programme exchange and were learning Czech for the first time. For the recordings a written text was constructed which the students read individually. The text emphasized words including the r-sound. From the recordings, various key words were cut off and a perceptual test was compiled and given to Czech native speakers to evaluate the pronunciation of the...
