Mentoring in a period of professional adaptation of teachers in the secondary schools

The thesis is focused on the process of mentoring and its application in the process of professional adaptation of teachers in secondary schools. The aim of the work is based on a literature review of available literature and the results of the research to describe and analyze the process of mentoring in a period of professional adaptation of secondary school teachers. In the theoretical part are explained the basic concepts related to the topic, are described the process of adaptation of teachers, characteristic of mentoring, role of mentor, mentoring relationship, further characteristic of mentor, forms, strategies, risks and benefits of mentoring. In the empirical part are described the implementation and results of quantitative research by the semistructured interview with the directors of the secondary schools, which focused on the way, how the process of mentoring in a period of professional adaptation of teachers in the secondary schools works and what specific ways of support are in the process of mentoring in a period of professional adaptation of teachers in the secondary school applied. The results of the research are useful for recommendations for the creator of the educational system. Mentoring novice teachers in Finland

This thesis introduces a topic of mentoring of novice teachers in Finland. The main goal is to analyse a novice teachers peer-group mentoring model as a case study of project Paedeia Café and evaluate its advantages and disadvantages in comparison to dyadic form of mentoring. Further, to bring ideas for implementation of Finnish experiences into Czech context. In theoretical part, we define mentoring in teaching profession, then we briefly introduce specifics of Finnish education system, peer-group mentoring and Paedeia Café. The research part analyses interview with mentors, novice teachers and manager of the project as well as participating observations. The results of the study show that Paedeia Café is a project which connects experienced teachers and students in last years of their studies. The advantages of the project are financial savings and creation of a space for discussion about professional issues. Disadvantages are more difficult structure, confusion of mentor's roles and low support in academic literature. In the Czech Republic, we can be inspired by a connection of experienced teachers and students, also by a space for sharing teaching profession experience in informal atmosphere. Problems of beginning teachers of primary education

The main aim of the theoretical part is to introduce difficulties of the teaching profession, such as the problems that are encountered today, when they are available for work and the challenges that they are not prepared for. With the aid of literature, I define the term 'beginning teacher' and I introduce the most common types of problems that arise. Furthermore, I focus on the possible support system for beginning teachers. The empiric part presents the assessment of the results from completed questionnaires and the dialogues with the beginning teachers of primary education. In my prepared and structured questionnaire and dialogue, I focus on the problems, which they might have struggled with or are still struggling with, such as if they feel that university was not able to prepare them adequately for their future job. In addition to this, I aim one's attention to the support system, which was provided to them, if they had an opportunity of a mentor. I am interested in parent's reaction when they found out that the new class teacher of their children is a fresh university graduate. Lastly, if they had a big problem to gain children's authority. Problems of the beginning teachers of the health education

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of beginning teachers of health education. It focuses on the most common problems they have to face during the first 5 years in the teaching profession. The main goal of the thesis will be to identify the most common problems that beginning teachers of health education have to deal with. Furthermore, their adaptation in the school environment and inclusion in the teaching staff. But also coping with the problems during the first years of the teaching profession. Another goal will be to find out how they solve problems and how they deal with them. Whether they have been assigned an introductory teacher and whether they work with him. The theoretical part of the work clarifies the issues associated with the performance of the teaching profession, characterizes the preparation of the future teacher for the performance of the profession, further clarifies the term beginning teacher and introducing teacher. The trasition period of anesthesiologist nurses from the point of view of mentor

Introduction: The transitional process is completed by all new employees with a view to the fastest and the most effective involvement in a complete work process of an organization. Also new employees, who start working in the anesthesiology department, go through specific adaptation. The research of this diploma thesis is focused on the anesthesiology department and brings a view of mentors - anesthesiologist nurses on the adaptation transition of new employees. Methodology: This is a qualitative study, data collection was conducted by semi-structured interviews with anesthesiologist nurses and mentors from various fields of anesthesia. Data analysis was performed in open coding steps followed by categorization. A total of 9 anesthesiologist nurses had participated in the research survey. Results: Findings of this research shows important aspects of successful adaptation transition of anesthesiologist nurses. These important aspects are mentor's experiences from both of their transitional process and his previous workplace, also mentoring that is represented by an experienced trainer, as well as cooperative and helpful work environment and collective, and at last, it is a quality feedback for mentor as well as new employer.
