An Enquiry Concerning the Phenomenon of Maidan Through the Application of the Hegelian Lordship and Bondage Theory
Dovhoruk, Ivanna ; Karfíková, Lenka (advisor) ; Matějčková, Tereza (referee)
This thesis is concerned with the question how can be the phenomenon of Maidan (Майдан) understood. Maidan here is primarly seen as an event in which people risked their lives. The first chapter deals with eyewitness testimonies of demonstrators in the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity (Революція Гідності), who were present in the directly life-threatening places (Hrushevsky-st, Institutska-st). In the second chapter Hegel's concept of the certification by death (die Bewährung durch den Tod) is inquired, as present in a lordship and bondage theory (Herrschaft und Knechtschaft) in the Phenomenology of Spirit (Phänomenologie des Geistes). In the third chapter, through the presentation of the author's own speculative theory of the Gates, we will try to prove that life can be deployed in two ways, from a position of humility and a position of pride. Within proving this statement we differentiate Hegelian concept of certification by death using Augustine's notion of pride (superbia). At the end of the inquiry we will try to answer the initial quastion, what Maidan is in light of the act of deployment of life.

The subject of the Masters thesis The Czech Kingdom in The Chronicle of Otakar of Styria is the history of Czech Kingdom in the Otokar of Styrias versified cronicle. The goal of this work is a comprehensive view of that cronicle as a historic source of cetral European history during the second half of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. The Masters thesis includes an evaluation the relationships between the central European sources of that time. It investigates both, the knetty question of the autor's live story and his motivation for writing a work around 100 000 verses. In particular chapters, various social groups, which the author focuses on, are examined (royal houses, aristocracy, burgher class, people). No particular social group can be considered in isolation. Thier interrelations are highlighted in the thesis. Following section introduces Otakar's description of certain central European regions (Austria, Styria, Carinthia, Hungary, Polen and the Holy Roman Empire), which is the foundation of my attempt to discover the cronicler's source and information base. Used method is based on the analysis of cronicle sources and the study of historical materials. The history of the Kingdom of Bohemia results from the above mentioned circumstances. Based on this approach, the thesis of...

Title: The Last Princess of Luxembourg. The Life Elizabeth of Görlitz in the Period between Years 1390 - 1425. Abstract: The thesis aims to describe the life of the last princess of the House of Luxembourg, Elisabeth of Görlitz. Based on an analysis of narrative and diplomatic material spanning between 1390 - 1425 it describes her life from birth until the moment she ultimately became a widow. Elisabeth of Görlitz (1390 - 1451) was the granddaughter of the emperor Charles the IV. and the Swedish king Albrecht I. During a significant period she used to be the only heir of the House of Luxembourg and therefore since her childhood she was an important woman from the political point of view. She married Anthony Duke of Brabant after several unsuccessful engagements. This marriage led Elizabeth to the Western Europe, where she spent the rest of her life. Thanks to this marriage, Luxembourg became the property of the newly married couple. After few years Anthony died in one of the most famous battles of Hundred Years' War - The battle of Agincourt. Soon after that, Elizabeth got married for the second time. Administrative and economy of the so called Aztec Empire
Dušek, Jakub ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Binková, Simona (referee)
(in English): This thesis examines and tests the hypothesis whether political entity, in literature traditionally referred to as the "Aztec Empire", was actually an empire equivalent to European states of that age. Based on this hypothesis there are two objectives in this paper. The first one is to answer the question of what principles really stood on this political entity, how the relationships between the core of the empire and other provinces varied and what affected these relationships. The second objective is to examine the economic system of the Aztec empire because that was extensively intertwined with its political actions and influenced them. All three components of the Aztec economy are analyzed, thus supplying the Triple Alliance on its own (intensive agriculture, trade) and extracting tributes from conquered territories. Attention is also paid to the history of "Aztec empire" and its Mesoamerican context. The main sources are edited sources from early colonial times, depicting the situation before the arrival of Europeans and secondary literature, stemming mainly from ethnohistorical research.

Whilst the British aim was the peace in the world, the Nazi aim was world war. Despite these differences, both sides adopted a similar approach to negotiation processes. The Luxemburgs and the Apennine Peninsula
Urban, Josef ; Helan, Pavel (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee)
The Communist Party and Colonial Question in Inter-war France
Chlebounová, Tereza ; Matějka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The thesis deals with the attitude of the French Communist Party (PCF) to the colonial issue in the era of inter-war France. It tries to map the development of this attitude and factors which influenced it. It also aims to make a periodization of the development and determine landmarks which divided its stages. The French Communist Party was the only political party in inter-war France which contested the right of the powers to own colonies and it called for their immediate independence. The thesis analyses whether this opinion stemmed from the inner conviction, whether the Party really advocated it throughout the whole period of interest and whether it actively promoted it in practise or it was rather just a rhetoric. The thesis is divided chronologically into three chapters delimited by events which were crucial for the shape of PCF's colonial policy. The first chapter begins with the foundation of the Party in 1920 and it studies the way communist colonial policy was formed. The second part deals with period 1924-1935 when the Party increased its activity due to the colonial conflict in Morocco. The third chapter aims to describe the evolution of the attitude of the PFC towards the colonies while the international tension was rising. It starts in 1935 when the Popular Front was created in France...

Hladíková, Kristýna ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Pečenka, Marek (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the British policy towards Malaya and its decolonisation between 1945 and 1971. It aims to learn and describe how British cabinet approached to Malaya in the chosen time period, and to define goals of the monarchy for this country. The goals were being often changed or modified. The thesis follows also the circumstances (Malayan national demands, bad domestic economic situation, decreasing position in international politics, growing imperial commitments, the Cold War and special relationship with the US), which led to changes in British plans. It takes all the questions above impeach when appraising if Britain really attained her goals and which means she used to reach them. On these grouns it tries to assess if Britain was successful and if decolonisation in Malaya was an achievement, or not.
